Entegra Roof Tile CORP

Entegra's crane pulverized our driveway, and Entegra has refused to accept any responsibility whatsoever for the damages. After the crane had finished loading the tiles and departed, I found a total of about 7 new cracks in our driveway, including an entire corner of the driveway that had been completely broken off. When I called Entegra about this, their representative immediately began looking for a way to evade responsibility. First he told me that a 30-year old driveway couldn't be expected to bear up under the weight of a crane. When I informed him that our driveway was in fact only 20 years old, he switched to saying that a 20-year old driveway couldn't be expected to bear up. I'm pretty sure that if I had told him our driveway was 1 year old, he would have launched into a disquisition about why a 1-year old driveway couldn't be expected to bear up. And all of this begs the question: if it was obvious from the driveway's characteristics that it couldn't be expected to bear the weight of the crane, why did they station a crane there in the first place, and why didn't they warn me there may be problems? The Entegra representative eventually came out to the house, and after looking at the damage, insisted that the reason the crane had demolished our driveway was that tree roots had grown under the driveway. While there is a live oak tree about 15 feet from the driveway that sends out roots fairly aggressively, I found this to be a highly unpersuasive explanation given that the new cracks in the driveway were far away from any evident root growth or previous signs of cracking in the driveway. And again, if it was evident that there were too many roots growing under the driveway for it to support the weight of a crane, why did Entegra station a crane there to load the tiles not only for our roof but for that of our roofmate, an entirely separate contract for Entegra? I am left with the impression of a company that simply refuses to accept any responsibility when it damages its customers' property in the course of delivering their product, no matter how culpable it is. Homeowners beware!
