GIT R DONE CONTRACTING & MGMT

This contractor presented and signed a contract February 28th to begin work the 1st of April 2016. Per the contract, the job would be complete by the 15th of that same month (April). After the 1st had come and gone by several days with little to no contact from this contractor, I finally reached him and let him know that I had a lawyer and am about to file a suit against him for the 50% deposit required up front. Only after having to inform him a lawsuit would be filed against him did he take this job seriously. Compensation for breach of contract and substantial lateness of the start of this job he offered to do a few other things we were remodeling, I thought at the time was fair. Total job time was not the 15 days as promised. It took nearly 5 months to just install the cabinets. This contractor blamed the cabinet company for the mistakes he obviously made with a measuring tape. He forgot to take into account the wall he removed in his instructions to the cabinet makers. Three different times there were issues with these cabinets that he blamed on the makers in Tennessee. Nothing was his fault according to him. There were a few alterations that had to be made due to obvious extenuating circumstances that arose during the work, as there always will. After 2 hours of listening to these people discuss an issue of a window fit, my wife had to inform them "its obvious you will just have to make the window bigger" From the time work was started, to the time I was fed up with this contractor and released him, his personnel only logged in 127 hours over a 5 month period of work.. My wife kept a detailed log of arrival and departure times and what work had been done for that day because I was still stationed at Fort Jackson, SC and could only make it home so often.. So yes May to October to just install the cabinets and a window. This 127 hours was not just the initial project time. This is also including the agreed compensation work. Since releasing this contractor there have been issues arise that should have never occurred. Mind you this has only been 1 year 6 months after the release. Cabinet doors and drawers do not open and close correctly, 2 drawers that the bottoms have pulled away from the framing, and a drawer face that has pulled off. I have since had to repair myself because of the use of a cheap manufacturer and up selling this product. Shoddy work has left its mark and obviously seen. Wood lettering and markings, staple and nail holes all remain an eyesore. But they are puzzled on my opinion of them and their work. This is a sub-par contractor doing sub-par work with sub-par products. If asked he will say well the owner did nothing but compliment us on our work. He would be correct, however this guy needs his ego catered to in order to get anything done out of him. I implore you to not use this company.
