SUNSCAPE HOMES

Contracted with Rick Carr to remodel and add two story addition to home. Has taken over 3 years and contractor has walked away from job causing my wife and I to have to seek legal help. They have cancelled meetings to substantiate apparent gross overbilling for allowances and change orders. They completely botched the installation of new insulation on existing house, failed to follow explicit directions and specifications of owner, did not follow owner's instructions to match balcony railings and pool fencing, destroyed irrigation and lighting in areas not subject to remodel etc. They claimed to know how to complete a wine room, but utilized the wrong insulation and a total nightmare and $30,000 catastropy was avoided when we had the job inspected by two other GC's and an engineer who pointed the problem out as well as numerous other problems out: warped french doors, horrible guttering job, terrible and incomplete paint job. Unfortunately we paid too much up front and have had to dig deeply into our own pockets to complete this job, we might as well have been our own contractor as on the job supervision was almost non existent. The driveway pavers are defective and cantained aggregate, therefore rust splotches are coming through. Sunscape not only aggravated us, but gave misinformation to our neighbors and the HOA/ARC. They refused our attorney's written request for copy of their insurance. I will be glad to share my experience with anyone as no one should have to go through the experience we have with Sunscape and Rick as well as Keith Carr.
