SUNSHINE POOL BUILDERS OCALA

Work started on time, then rain delays, excuses for not showing up for weeks...not weather related, sent in other contractors for pavers in yard...very bad job !!! never cleaned up...left job site messy and dirty. Bills paid on time by me, left equiment stored on site to do more work but they never were on time or showed up when they said they would. Still never completed job even when I pointed out problems to Dave or his son...

Poor experience

After spending hours on a design that included views and a detailed specification with exact measurements, Sunshine Pool Builders managed to shorten the length and width by about 12 inches in each direction - and the "swim out" by about 18 inches. The owners response - "We made a mistake". So I paid fully for a bigger pool - wasted hours in the design which called out all measurements and that was his response. Had I not happened to be in Ocala at the time they were blowing in the shell (I was living in San Diego at the time) - the design we painstakingly detailed for the spa would never have been close to being met. I had to show the installer what I wanted while he was shaping the spa. Again - no owner on site. Overall, very poor communication and implementation from designers to the actual installers. And then - no one on their staff knew how to program the AquaRite pool controls they installed - a factory rep had to come out and it wasn't until several months later we finally got the pool functions to work (almost properly). When complete - the pool leaked water continuously. Over the course of a year - 2 different attempts found 12 total leaks. Since the initial leak detection attempt - the pool has never stopped leaking and presently loses 3 inches of water over night. At this moment, multiple paver "areas" need re-leveling even after being installed on a concrete base - and even after they came back and replaced sand underneath (but they never addressed the root cause which I pointed out at the time). I have 3 landings (elevation changes) on each side of the spa and each of the landings now exhibit settling causing cracking of the tiles - and spa pavers - again a problem that occurred within the very first year and possibly due to the leaks and subsequent wash out. In my latest effort to get them back to address the leaks - David Doolittle (the owner) told me on the phone on a Sunday morning (yeah I lost it and called him on his cell on the weekend) to call him the following morning and he would take action to address this latest round of pool water loss. After 6 follow up phone calls - no answer, no call back, and no response of any kind to either phone calls or a letter. A very unprofessional response to pool issues I have had since installation. I would NEVER let them install another pool for me.
