SOD CENTRAL

Installed diseased grass, did not prepare areas before installation. Patched areas are much higher than existing grass. Had to call twice to get them to come, should have known better. Had no recourse, contract says too bad, so sad. The part that bothers us the most is that they did it to our elderly neighbor too!

I had prepare the land myself and let it sit for a couple of weeks to make sure no weeds were growing in it. I had a load of sod delivered by another company and it was full of crab grass, so I called them and they took it back. Then I called Sod Central and they were very helpful. I arranged to have the new sod put in and they did it a week later, as planned. The sod looked great and the first season it was very nice. The grass type is Argentinian Bahia. The problem is that this is the second season and the sod is full of the crappy Bermuda grass. The real problem is that the Bermuda grass is so like the Bahia that there is no way to kill it without killing the Bahia. So all the sod I had put in is being overgrown. I asked Sod Central about it and they said they can't do anything about it. I also bought a couple of palm trees and they are doing wonderful. I can't say I blame them for the grass, it's just that I am very discouraged by the whole thing. To be fair, when I had removed the original lawn, I only removed the bad grass, so I had removed about 60% of the original lawn. Sod Central had said they thought it would be better to do the entire lawn. Since the grass that I let stay was clear of Bermuda or crab grass, don't think that led to my current problem. I think the only answer is to let the Bermuda grass take over and forget about the Bahia. Or just pave it all over and be done with it.

The service went great. A crew of 4 came out and completed the project in a half day. They did everything without destroying the property. They did exactly what they said they would and the mulch they laid is beautiful. They were great with the cleanup afterwards. They were very careful in their work. The plants they brought in were very healthy and a nice size. I had no problem scheduling the service and they even came out a little early.

Ken showed up promptly for the initial estimate appointment. He was very friendly but also very professional. He answered all questions without talking down to us. We were told that we could expect to wait two to three weeks to get onto their schedule because of the time of year and their overload of work right now. After we accepted the bid we were contacted within less than a week and scheduled for the following week. They arrived (although one day later than planned due to weather) with a full crew, all necessary equipment and very healthy looking sod. The entire crew worked well together and with me. They were very efficient, also friendly. Several of them commented that they really liked working for this company. They removed and hauled away all of the existing grass. Then, after the new sod was down, they ran and inspected all sprinklers and adjusted those that needed it. They then set the sprinkler system to the correct watering schedule and instructed me in how and when to change the frequency. The grass has been down for a week now and is looking even better each day. We are very pleased with the results and the company was great to work with and made it a pleasant experience.

They did a good job it's just what I expected.

As far somebody come out and cut the grass and I do that myself. They were very pleasant. They come and do the job, they do a beautiful job. I like dealing with the people. It's hard to tell about the price, I know I had them for replacing our sod and I used the again for the split project. They are very good people.
