Another call to Scott brought him out the next day after the fan remained non-operating. Scott thoroughly checked the system inside and out, determining that the fan itself was done being reliable (it was actually running by the time he arrived). Rather than install a manufacturer grand, he installed a universal brand that saved a tidy sum. I've waited to post this to ensure that nothing else emerged, and nothing else has come up. The AC has performed perfectly throughout an exceptionally hot October with most days a bit above or below 90 degrees. The service call, thorough system check, and installation of new fan is indicated in the price. Once again, it was a pleasure to work with Scott at Proctor's AC.
Description of Work: To follow up the previous review which noted the problem with the main fan freezing up, at that time, it thawed and resumed normal functioning. That lasted about 10 days and then the problem returned.

He proceeded to talk me through what I needed to do that would likely correct the situation without him having to make a $75 service call, explaining everything along the way. Evidence indicated something had frozen up, perhaps due to a worn out air filter - my bad. He insisted that I call him back in the morning and let him know how it went. Following his advice, I shut everything down, set the fan from AUTO to ON but noticed the fan was rather quiet. An hour or so later, the fan became audible, and a few hours after that, I turned the AC back on - with a new filter in place - and everything has been fine. I guess the fan had literally frozen. An hour or so after shut-down, it thawed, and a few hours later had dried out. I didn't pay anything, but rather saved a tidy sum thanks to this customer-friendly approach. He could have taken a service call, replaced the fan, and charged me a bundle, but he didn't and wouldn't. It simply reinforces my very positive prior experience with Proctor's. If I have an AC problem, I will always call Proctor's.
Description of Work: My AC stopped working late yesterday afternoon. I called Proctor's who have always been as prompt as possible, courteous, fair, and informative. I explained what had happened, and what I'd done to try addressing the problem to no avail.

Process went relatively smoothly until the electrician stepped through my ceiling. Proctors handled the repair of the ceiling and looks good as new!! The mini-split works well. My bedroom faces directly south and tends to be about 7and deg; warmer than the rest of the house. Now that I have the new mini split (Mitsubishi) it is very comfortable.

Another company sent a rep that said the unit needed to be replaced. Actually, he just had never seen a unit like it before! Proctor went out and cleaned it and repaired it promptly. He was even kind enough to say that some of the newer techs, like at the other company, just didn't have experience with older technology. Scott Proctor was reliable, kind to the renters of the home, and skilled.

We have used Proctor's Air in the past and will use them again. They service our main central air conditioning system and furnace and have installed 3 mini split air units for us. They are prompt, courteous and the neatest service company we ever have at our home. Scott did all our installations and we are always so impressed with how much care he takes when installing and cleaning up the work site. On our last project, we had additional questions and Patty in the office went way above and beyond the scope of her job to get us the answers we needed. We will definitely use Proctor's again and recommend them to our friends.

THE OWNER SAID THEY WOULD BE BACK OUT THE FOLLOWING DAY TO DO WHATEVER NEEDED TO BE DONE. SINCE IT ISN'T MY HOUSE I LEFT IT UP TO THE OWNER TO FOLLOW UP. THE FOLLOWING DAY I CONTACTED THE OWNER AND ASKED THEM WHEN THEY CAME AND WHAT THEY DID TO FIND OUT THAT THEY DIDN'T COME AT ALL. WHEN and quot;Iand quot; CALLED MONDAY BEFOR LAST...AS THEY ARE CLOSED ONE THE WEEKEND...THEY SAID THERE WAS NO APPT SCHEDULED AND THAT THE ONLY THING THEY DID WHEN THEY WERE HERE WAS CHECK THE VENT TEMPS AND AIR DUCTS... THEY DIDN'T EVEN SERVICE THE UNIT. I CONTACTED THE OWNER AND TOLD THEM TO CHECK THE BILL AS THEY WERE ALSO WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT EVER THING WAS BEING CHECKED, SERVICED AND THE UNIT AND ANY/ALL ISSUES WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. I CALLED THE COMPANY BACK AND and quot;Iand quot; MADE THE APPT SO I COULD MAKE SURE THAT I WOULD BE HERE TO WATCH WHAT THEY DID. HE CLEANED THE COILS, FOUND A BATTERY SUPPLY THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, HE SAID SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT THAT BOTH MOTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I ASKED IF THERE WAS A LEAK UNDER THE HOUSE HE TOLD ME THE FIRST TIME HE WAS HERE HE WENT UNDER THE HOUSE TO CHECK WHATEVER DUCTWORK AND CONNECTIONS FOR LEAKS...BUT IN ALL HONESTY...I DOUBT IT... I ASKED QUESTIONS OVER AND OVER...AND IN ALL HONESTY...I COUDLN'T GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER. IT WAS THIS...IT WAS THAT...I DID THIS...I DID THAT...YOU NEED THIS...YOU NEED THAT...BUT HE DIDN'T DO WHAT WE THOUGHT WE HAD PAID FOR. ...AND THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ANYTHING...and quot;CONCRETEand quot; TO MAKE ANY KIND OF DECISION... and quot;WAS IT WORTH THE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF ALL THE PARTS ON A 9 YEAR OLD UNIT? OR WOULD IT BE CHEAPER IN THE LONG RUN TO REPLACE?and quot; WHEN THE GUY LEFT HE SAID I WOULD GET A CALL TODAY TO LET ME KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN, RESCHEDULE AN APPT, ANY ISSUES THERE COULD BE RE: REPLACEMENT PARTS ETC...AND WHEN THE A/C WOULD BE FIXED...AS WE CAN'T TURN THE A/C ON WITHOUT TAKING THE CHANCE OF BLOWING THE A/C COMPLETELY. I CALLED THE OWNER AND THEY HADN'T CONTACTED HER...AND THEY DIDN'T CONTACT ME. I CALLED THE PROVIDER AT END OF DAY...AND THE GIRL THAT ANSWERED THE PHONE SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS...AND IN FACT TOLD ME THAT BASICALLY NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE WITH THE WORK ORDER FROM THE DAY BEFORE...NOTHING ORDERED...NO RETURN BY END OF WEEK...AND NO APPT ON THE BOOKS. THEN AFTER ALL THAT: ASKING WHO I WAS, AND NOT EVEN ALLOWING ME TO ANSWER SAID...THE TENANT...REFUSED TO TALK TO ME ABOUT AN APPT, PARTS, ANTICIPATED DELIVERY OF PARTS ON ORDER...AND IN FACT TOLD ME THAT BASICALLY NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE WITH THE WORK ORDER PERFORMED THE DAY BEFORE...AND THE CALL ENDED. *****THIS WAS AROUND 3:30 PM TODAY*****AND BELIEVE ME...THEY CLOSE THEIR DOORS AND STOP ANSWERING PHONE CALLS EARLY!***** AND IT'S FUNNY...I SPOKE WITH SOMEONE THE WEEK BEFORE, THEY CALLED ME ON MY CELL PHONE, SET UP THE APPT AND TOLD ME WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO DO...ETC... TOMORROW , NOW THURSDAY, I AM CALLING THEM AGAIN TO SPEAK WITH THE MANAGER AS BEING I AM THE ONLY ONE TRYING TO GET THIS A/C FIXED. I AM GOING TO TELL THE MANAGER WHAT HAS HAPPENED OVER THE COURSE OF NOW 10 DAYS AND THAT THE PERSON HE HAS ANSWERING THE PHONES AND SETTING APPTS, FOR A CUSTOMER BASED PROVIDER..., I DON'T SEE HOW HE HAS ANY CUSTOMERS...IF SHE SPEAKS TO EVERYONE THE WAY SHE HAS SPOKEN WITH ME ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS. WTH THIS IN ITSELF...I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE! I SPOKE WITH THE OWNER OF THE HOME...THE OWNER SAID SHE DIDN'T KINOW ANYTHING...THEY DIDN'T GIVE HER ANYTHING (PAPERWORK) A PHONE CALL... NOTHING...AND SHE LIVES RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO ME! JUST WHAT THE GUY SAID...WOULD BE BEFORE END OF WEEK... LAST TIME THEY TOLD THE OWNER THEY WOULD BE BACK OUT THE NEXT DAY...IT WAS OVER A WEEK! I'M NOW GOING ON 10 DAYS WITHOUT AN A/C FROM THEIR FIRST VISIT TO FIND NOT A D*** THING HAS BEEN DONE TO GET THE A/C BACK ON! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE...NO STRAIGHT ANSWERS... ALL I KNOW IS THAT THE NEIGHBOR'S A/C BLEW OUT THE SAME DAY...THEIR'S WAS REPAIRED THE NEXT DAY! FIGURE THAT ONE OUT!
Description of Work: I AM A RENTER - I AM A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY THAT OWNS THE HOME. THE OWNER INSISTED THAT PROCTOR'S WAS THE COMPANY TO CALL... ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THEY DIDN'T PROVIDE THE SERVICE THE OWNER THOUGHT THEY WERE PAYING FOR WHICH WAS TO CHECK ALL THE VENTS, AIR DUCTS, A/C TUNE UP, FREON LEVELS ETC...AS THE A/C WAS RUNNING 24/7 AND WE WERE SWEATING INSIDE THE HOUSE!

Well they told me what time they were going to come out and they came on time. They were very polite. They told me that they wanted to look on the inside and on the outside of the A/C unit. Explained to me the problem and went to get to the parts to fix it. It was a temporary fix, he told me that eventually we will have to get a new unit.

Description of Work: Called for repair of broken A/C Heat-pump system. Appointment was scheduled for the following day. The service Tech was professional, knowledgeable. I trust his diagnosis as I have used them for 20 years at several houses and always been completely satisfied. Their work is thorough and they will fix only what is needed. I ended in not getting the system repaired because I opted for a new system.

He and his co-worker were very professional, punctual, efficient and friendly. They preformed the work as requested and cleaned up the worksite afterward. The price was very competitive. It was a pleasure to see this kind of rare service in our modern society. He has any of my future AC/H needs.
