Arrived on time. Provided a thorough inspection of a home I was considering purchasing. Found a plumbing issue which only showed itself after running the water for a long time. This got the Seller to lower the price by $2,000 so I could get it repaired. Would definitely recommend!!

Mr. Silberhorn did a thorough, three-hour, inside and out inspection of my home. He told me ahead of time how long it would take, what he would do and where he would be going around the property. He took pictures of all the areas he inspected and provided them to me on a disk along with his comments about each area. He patiently reviewed all his findings with me and answered all my questions, not only at the time of the inspection, but also on the phone and via e-mail afterwards. He provided the full written report, including the disk, within 48 hours of the inspection. He was also helpful in providing a list of repair persons he had used, but were not affiliated with his business.

.Dwayne arrived early and was ready to go when I arrived. The first house he inspected for me he noticed multiple issues that brought the house out of my budget. He sat down with me and went over what I wanted to spend and what is was actually going to cost. After that I decided to stop the inspection and he gave me a discount since we didnt complete it. I am glad I made that decision. I found a new home a month later and once again he beat me to the house and already started the inspection. At this house he noticed alot of little things but over all he thought the house looked well taken care of. His inspection report was extremely detailed about what he felt needed to be addressed immediately or over time. He referenced books and sites that would be helpful if I chose to do some of the issues myself. At the end I felt like I could really trust him and have since reffered him to my sister in law who just put an offer in on a house. I know there are some inspectors who are cheaper but in this case I think you get what you pay for and I couldnt have asked more from an inspector.

Very detailed. Was very impressed. Nice person and very patient. My son is a new homeowner and he took extra time to educate him about several things which I thought was above and beyond. The house was a foreclosure so it had lots of things that needed attention. He even talked to my son about budgeting and how to save money by doing some of the work himself. He even wrote out a contractors list of people he trusted to fix things that we could call. I really appreciated that! I would most definitely recommend and use in the future.

Extremely thorough and full of great useful information. I would recommend anyone who wants to avoid getting stuck with a home with lots of problems. Well worth the cost, I would recommend BrickKicker to any home buyer, first time or seasoned veteran. Things that he found: -Roof vents were not properly installed -Skylight seal was broken causing moisture to accumulate -UNDERSIZED beam installed in the basement, this could have become and serious issue if not fixed before we moved in! -High levels of Radon in the basement We were able to negotiate some additional money off the home purchase to cover the repair of these issues. Would do business anytime!

Mr. Silberhorn was on time, explained all that he was doing, before he did it, and looked at the entire home from top to bottom. I feel certain that this home is ready for the next owner. I wanted to insure a smooth transition for the entire selling process and The Brickkicker allowed me to do just that. He is very professional, knows his business inside and out and was available for questions well after the inspection was completed. I had to call him a few days later to clarify one thing and he answered without delay. I selected this gentleman from Angie's List and was very pleased with the level of service and professionalism.

First, DeWayne was very prompt, courteous, and professional. He immediately returned my call and was very easy to work with. He was able to provide a professional written inspection report with pictures that is recognized by the realtors. He is Licensed by the State of Illinois which is very important. Having a report written by a Licensed inspector gives you the negotiation power you need to adjust your offer price with the seller. Even if you can identify defects yourself, you still need a Licensed Inspector to have credibility in the report. I would highly recommend DeWayne and his company for a home inspection and would use him again.

The inspector was there for 2 and half hours. I was totally satisfied with his professionalism and easy to talk about items that where of interest. I would recommend Brickkicker Inspection Service to anyone needing home/condo inspection.

DeWayne showed up on time and met me at the house I was wanting to buy. He was thorough and started with an extra 1-1/2 detached garage and outside shed, then moved to inspecting the outside of the house. He pointed out issues that either were a problem or ones that could become a problem. After inspecting the outside for roof, chimney, siding, windows, foundation, driveway, CA unit and other features he moved to inside of house. He inspected electrical, appliances, floors, ceiling, doors, locks, plumbing, foundation, insulation. He elicited my help in testing all open electrical outlets. He often will quiz you as to why something is wrong. He spent a total of 4 hours inspecting the house. When finished he gives you a hard copy of the inspection report and a Home Reference guide containing reference materials and the inspection report on a CD. I am still in negotiation with the seller of the house to come to a deal.

As this was our THIRD home inspection with DeWayne, I have to say that, honestly, he just keeps getting better and better! His knowledge and professionalism are superior. It's obvious that he likes what he does because he does it so well. Our first home inspection with him was a small single family home that we were looking at for an investment. The few hundred we paid was well worth it. He uncovered so many major issues that we did not proceed with the purchase. That was 8 years ago, and we strongly feel that he saved us THOUSANDS of dollars and stress had we gone ahead and bought it. Our second investment property he inspected was a duplex. And just like the first and last property, he went through that property top to bottom and said if we didn't buy it, he would. On all of the properties, we have received a binder and pictures. Over the years, this has been nice to serve as a means to keep up with the maintenance and improvements on the property. In March, DeWayne inspected the home that we purchased for our primary home. It was also a foreclosure, so we had no idea of the history on the property. The water was also off, which made the inspection more difficult. However, he was still able to check the pressure in the plumbing system. I thought that perhaps there would be things he'd miss. I was wrong. Once again, he did an outstanding job inspecting. DeWayne also goes the extra mile by educating the home owner in how the different systems work. In this last property, he really went the extra mile for us. He really took care of us, and the pride in his work shows. He's prompt, flexible, cost effective, knowledgeable and I just can't speak highly enough of him as a person and a professional. We are considered seasoned home buyers at this point, and still would not purchase without having him inspect the property. For first time home buyers, PLEASE make sure you give him a call to inspect the property you want to purchase.

The inspection was extremely thorough. I spent the time following him around and discussing his findings as he made the inspection. He spent almost four hours inspecting the house and writing up his report. He was very thorough in the inspection and the report was extremely detailed. He was very knowledgeable in all aspects of home construction and maintainence. As a result of the inspection our son-in-law decided to purchase the house.

He did okay, but I don’t think I would use him again in the future.

This is the second inspection that DeWayne has performed for us this year. Because of his expertise and professionalism, he saved us from spending a large amount of money on the purchase and repair of a house that we thought was fairly well built. After his inspection, we realized that this would be a huge money pit, and along with the owner not cooperating, we did not complete the purchase. Yesterday, he did another inspection for us on a different property, and I now feel very confident that we will be purchasing a good home that will meet our needs. You would be hard pressed to find anothere inspector that is more knowledgable than the BrickKicker! Hire him with full confidence. You'll learn more about your new home in four hours with him than you would by living there for ten years.

They did a home evaluation for my son-in-law and he was absolutely wonderful. My husband walked through with the guy and found him to be very thorough so we had him come do a radon test for us. He found out that our radon is very high so he sent us an email with all of the levels and suggested a company to contact. It took him three hours to go through the house and he provided a report in a three-ring binder. He sent the report to my son-in-law through email. He is just really good in every way. It was $69 for the radon testing and $365 for the house evaluation. When he insisted that they do something about the water being off, it turned out that every pipe was leaking. It really saved them thousands of dollars because they would have bought a house with major problems. He is honest and thorough, and I can’t say enough nice things about him. He is on time, knowledgeable, and he saved my kids a lot of money.

DeWayne Silberhorn came out to the house I was buying to do a home inspection. He explained to me everything that was wrong with the house. He inspected EVERYTHING. I was really surprised how thorough the process was. He went through the entire house step-by-step and explained everything to me. He even gave me a binder full of detailed explanations of the home inspection, as well as pictures right there on site. The binder even contained pretty much everything you need to know about maintaining a house, as well as a list of service providers that he personally recommends. He even gave me a dvd copy of the inspection report. I have never had an excellent customer service experience like I had with DeWayne Silberhorn from Brickkickers. I highly recommend him if you need a home inspection of any kind.
