The service was fine. We did not have any problem with the internet. The only thing they could have differently was to provide a faster internet. We would maybe use them in the future if they review their rates.

The customer service rep. Sounded like a used car salesman. I have also noticed throughout the past year, that TV commercials very regularly get cut off half way by the next commercial. They do this every second or third segment and end up cutting a good three to four commercials in half every hour or so. Now, that's no skin off my nose, but if I were the one paying per x amount of seconds, I'd be livid. I hate dishonesty in every form. And from what I see with the internet speed I pay for, but rarely receive, plus looking at those commercials repeatedly being cut off, Cox strikes me as very dishonest. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find another cable company in my area and I don't want a dish or DSL. But, the minute a reliable, trustworthy cable company comes, I'll leave Cox in a heartbeat!
Description of Work: I have been a Cox customer for the past 12 years. Their Cable quality for TV and Internet is very good, but I firmly believe they steal from their customers any opportunity they get. I've paid for a download speed of 50 Mps for years. But when several months ago, videos would need to buffer, I decided to look for an application to check my download speed. The most I got during the past month was 27 Mps, which is plenty for watching a video, but that was rare. Most of the time the speed did not get over 10 Mps and often under 5. So, I decided to call and see how much I'd save if I'd downgrade my service to 15 Mps. After about 30 minutes of haggling, I ended up reducing my monthly bill from $187 to $142 and it turns out it makes no difference at all in my service. I still stay under 10 Mps most of the time, but at least I'm not paying top $ plus my TV package stayed the same.

My biggest complaint is price. When I first started with them the price was $24.99 for basic internet. The same service is now nearly $45 a month. That is a lot for basic internet (not high speed). Seems every year it goes up a few dollars. They also took away a very useful feature of data storage ("personal web space" I think it was called). I do some Ebay and hosted the pictures there. Now I have to subscribe elsewhere for this. So COX is continually reducing service and raising prices. It is to the point now where I am looking to get a cell phone and data package. I just don't think the value is there any longer.
Description of Work: I have been a subscriber to COX internet now for nearly 8 years. (No TV - just internet services). Overall the service is relatively reliable. I've had to replace 3 modems, but that is Florida and typical lightening. Last year there was an email outage for nearly a week. That was awful, but rare. I had a problem with an incoming cable they were supposed to replace and bury in the yard. It took them a year to get it done. But they finally did it.

The service on the internet and the phone is good. I have had very few problems with interference and they are very seldom offline. They do repair when necessary, storm damage and things like that. We have not had any of these 10-day outages, due to storm damage or anything like that. Being in Florida, we do get a lot of storms. Their technology for their TV and DVR is hopelessly out of date.
