A-1 Handyman Services

This is just a pre - review. I just wanted everyone to know how experienced and professional he is. What I liked so much is that APOLLO REALLY LISTENED to what I wanted done, asked questions and we did no go on to the next item until he was sure of what I wanted done and how I wanted it done. I am so very happy happy That I chose him and his company to do all the work that needs to be done. I have a very good feeling about his work and his communication and understanding of each and every project. Apollo is a very thoughtful person and I know his main objective is to please his customer.

We set an appointment to meet on Tuesday at about 1:00pm. I informed him that I did have other people that I needed to meet with on that day. He was the last person to show up. When he got there, I walked around the house with him to talk about what needed to be done. His behavior portrayed that he was aggrivated that he did not have my full attention. There are two houses on the property, and we walked together to see what I wanted done in the second house. We walked through the house to talk about eveything that needed to be done. We got to the door which was the last thing we spoke about, and he was asking about how I was wanting to purchase the door. I told him that I wanted to purchase all of the materials so that he could pick them up and all I would need was his labor. I told him that I wanted his services the day that I closed on the house, the first of April. He informed me that he would call me back in the middle of the next week, and I have heard no response from him. I would not hire him to hammer a single nail in anything of mine because I feel like he wanted to purchase the materials himself so that he could drive the prices up.

it went very well. I hired Apollo and his assistant to install 4 lighted ceiling fans. They were punctual and did good work at a reasonable price, and did it faster than I expected. I recommend them to others.

This was the second time we have hired Apollo. This time he build a small deck that extended our patio area. He also re-painted the area around the pool and the patio and repaired some water damage to exterior columns around the pool area. Once again we could not have been more pleased with the result. He went above and beyond what we agreed on. His attention to detail is what makes him in my opinion the best. As always he was extremely professional and a joy to work with, a really nice man who takes pride in his work. We also had a issue with our sprinkler system. Apollo was very helpful. He recommended and contacted a company and by 10 the next morning the guy was at our house doing the repairs. Needless to say I would recommend Apollo any day.

Apollo and Sam did a great job and we want them back to do other repairs that we need to take care of. Only think we don't like is that we have to share them both with others! :)

2/14/2013 Apollo gave us an estimate to replace our kitchen faucet & sink during a previous job - we purchased a combo (sink & faucet) from Home Depot and called to schedule the install. He was there within a couple of days and spent several hours doing the replacement because some of the plumbing components needed to be changed. When complete, we asked him to install a replacement smoke detector that we couldn't seem to get to fit correctly. He did this at no charge. 3/11/2013 We called Apollo again when our new kitchen faucet wasn't giving us enough water pressure. After talking to several people about what the problem could be, we discovered it was the faucet itself causing the problem. We called Apollo to find out what we could arrange price-wise for the removal & re-install of a new faucet, since we had just paid for it to be done. Apollo scheduled a time within a couple of days to remove & replace the faucet with another kitchen faucet we had purchased at a big box store. He handled the job with his usual professionalism and now we have adequate water pressure! After he finished, we asked him if he had time to replace the drain hardware in our master bath sinks, which we had purchased previously. He did this with no hesitation, even though he ran into rust issues in the drain and it took longer than anticipated. I can't say enough good things about Apollo and company - I will call him whenever I need ANY work done!

I found this company on Angie'slist. Apollo came out to our house, gave me an estimate. He was on time and a pleasure to work with. The job was done without any problems, they worked tirelessly from 8.30 till 6 that evening, did an amazing job that exceeded my expectations. He is a very pleasant and professional man and the same goes for his team. I am so glad I found him and will definitely use him in the future for other projects around the house. I can highly recommend this company.

We found this contract on Angies list and he was very helpful and was able to assist us regarding two rental properties in a timely manner and his prices were fair.

He said that if it needed to be adjusted, he would come back at no charge.

I called Apollo initially to fix a broken pull cord on my vertical blinds. He was very responsive and arrived early for the appointment. He said he had never seen the type of set-up before on the blinds I have, but was sure he could fix the cord. He was here for almost 3 hrs restringing the blinds, but got it done. My blinds have never worked smoother! While he was here, my husband showed him a few other jobs that he wanted done and Apollo indicated that he would call the following week to schedule a time, which he did. We had a shower leak that he determined came from a crack in the tile - there were other grout and caulking issues in the bathroom that he said he could fix, as well. He arrived on time and set to re-grouting, caulking and sealing the entire bathroom where the problems were. He was here for most of the day and returned in a couple of days after everything was dry to finish up. The leak is gone and my bathroom looks like new! We asked Apollo for some estimates to do other work and he gave them to us immediately. He is very professional, courteous and polite and stays until the work is done - I would not hesitate to recommend his work to anyone that asks!

We had talked with Apollo throughout the process of having our kitchen redone. He was always willing to answer questions and provide advise when we asked. While we had another company install the cabinets and countertops, we relied on Apollo's experience to help us ensure the work was done correctly- he never hesitated. We are profoundly grateful for his willingness to help. He also re-hooked up our plumbing after the cabinets were installed and we were waiting on the countertops. This was not an easy task as the cabinet people cut the pipes too low, but he stayed late (8 pm) and got it done. When we signed on to write this review, we saw another, less favorable, review. We are so surprised that anyone would write a negative review of Apollo. He has such integrity and work ethic that we can only guess that those members who were negative, didn't talk with him about any concerns. We have found him so responsive to our needs. If you're considering hiring him, do it. You won't regret it!

This job did not finish on time as scheduled. Although the handyman did oversee the work, there were too many times when he was not here or was on his phone looking for more work Our job was not completed on time because he was on other jobs.

I called Apollo on December 11th, 2012 and he was so helpful that I decided to hire him to replace the starter in my 1999 Firebird. He showed up on December 12th, 20 minutes early which was great. He was very professional and had my new starter installed in about an hour. However, it didn't fix my car problem :( He was nice enough to do a few more tests for me and determined that my main issue has something to do with my engine-- he thought the timing chain was most likely the culprit. He was very knowledgeable about my options and gave me his honest opinion that it probably wasn't worth fixing since I had just replaced the engine (for about $3,000) in May of 2012. Also, he was kind enough to drive me to the ATM so I could pay him. Overall, I would definitely hire him again and I will be recommending him to all of my friends. He saved us so much money on the tow alone since he was able to come to my home and he only charged me $50 to install the starter AND he did the other tests for me because he felt bad that there was more wrong with the car than what he could fix right then. He seems like a stand up guy and I'm really glad I called. If my car costs too much to fix, I will be calling him to check out my replacement car before I buy one.

In July of this year my 1998 Nissan Altima blew its engine. Apollo Rodriquez has been our mechanic for over a year. I called him and he took the car in for evaluation and repair. His initial assessment and estimate was the engine needed to be replaced for $3,200.00. He also offered to rebuild the engine for a lesser price of $2,298.52. Since the car was 14 years old we chose the lesser cost. He returned the car to us on 8/11/12 in working order along with his "worthless" warranty which reads (One year or 12,000 miles warranty on engine). He assured me the car would be reliable and was repaired to a state that would function for thousands of miles to come. Approximately 3 weeks later my wife phoned me at work to say that the car had stopped suddenly and she was stranded. Fortunately she was just a few blocks from home and walked home. I called Apollo and he arranged to have the car towed for re-evaluation. A day or so later Apollo informed me the engine would require another $800.00 or so to re-repair. The cylinders were not properly balanced and it would require some machine shop work. I referred him to his WARRANTY and particularly the referrence to the "Sent cylinder head to machine shop" item. He told me then that the "outsourced" mechanics had cut corners to minimize costs and that it was not covered under the warranty. Over the past 120 days/4 months I have asked Mr. Rodriguez many times to honour his warranty. I've offered to take the refund in instalments as low as $200.00/mo., I've offered to barter future service on other vehicles for the monies I am owed under his warranty. He apologizes and admits poor judgement in choosing to outsource the work, but refuses to budge on honouring his warranty. Apollo Rodriguez is a kind, good hearted and well meaning man and in spite of our difference on this matter I still like him. But he either will not or cannot honour his written word. And I am sorry to say that I have referred him to many in my community for business. My reputation is perilously linked to his. When he performs well its awesome, but at this time he is not prepared to warrant any of his work. Caveat Emptor. "Buyer Beware."

From start to finish Apollo and crew were punctual, courteous, clean and work was top notch quality. We have more work to do and will continue to use his services. A real A+ in hiring him!

Apollo and his associate Mike came to our home punctually and gave us a reasonable estimate to wash the roof, pressure wash the soffit, fascia and re-paint the trim work on the home and window sills. They completed the work as scheduled and even went above and beyond to touch up a few other areas that we had not discussed. They also followed up with a phone call to ensure that we were happy. Great service! We will definitely use them again.

Apollo responded to my initial email within a few hours He told me the date and time he would come to my house to give me an estimate and actually arrived with all of the supplies on hand in case I wanted to have them do the work the same day. Apollo brought Mike with him and they both worked continuosly from 7:30 am to 5:30 in the rain to complete the task. The job they did was excellent and the house looked incredible. I plan on calling them again for the next project.

I had used Apollo and Mike two weeks prior for another job and they did it so well and were so quick to respond that I gave them another shot. I contacted them and Apollo called me that same day and scheduled a date/time to give me an estimate. Just like before he came prepared to begin work if I wanted him to. His estimate was very reasonable and they started the project around 8:30 am and didn't leave until 5:30/6:00 pm. They did an amazing job and fixed everything. After they were done I went into my kitchen to fix dinner and had no water. I went to go outside to see if the pump had been turned off for some reason and Apollo and Mike were still packing the truck up and asked me what was wrong. I told him I had no water and they went over to take a look at it and had it working within minutes (and didn't charge me anything). If they had not been there I would have had no water all evening and would have had to get someone out there the next day to repair it (minimum charge $125.00 to just show up). I will definitely use them again and have already handed out 4 of their cards.

I chose Apollo because of his great reviews on Angies List, and I was not disappointed. He is very responsive, flexible with scheduling, always showed up on time and always finished the job when promised. I would go home at lunch to check on progress and Apollo was always willing to discuss details, offer alternatives, and throw in a few extras. His team was also very respectful of my home, efficient, and left things cleaner than when they started. Apollo was also very kind to my teenage son, who wanted to help with some of the work but wasn't sure what he was doing. Apollo coached him until the job was done -- and genuinely appreciated the help. Other workmen might have seen that as taking away some of their work/income, but Apollo just isn't like that. He is a truly kind man who cares about his customers. I have only good things to say about Apollo and team and would trust him with any job in my home in the future!

A-1 Services went beyond my expectations and really made the garage look great. It took part of two days to complete the project and they did not stop until it was finished.I was very happy with everything.

Apollo was a pleasure to work with. He responded promptly and went to work next day. Since I was not in the area as he was doing work at a second home, he kept me informed of progress even including picture messages. Work was finished in a timely manner and to complete satisfaction. A few days later when the main kitchen outlet failed and after calling two electricians without reply I contacted him again. He showed up that same day and replaced the defective outlet.

Apollo and his small crew were here promptly in the morning. I rarely saw them take a break though out the day and it was hot as heck out there! Everyone was friendly and the process went smoothly when the weather cooperated. When Apollo found something that concerned him he brought it to our attention and offered us solutions. We are very happy with their work. They did an awesome job. Everyone comments on how great our house looks!
