 + -1 moreJeff fixed my windows easily when other companies would've charged me 3 times as much for the same work. I contacted 4 companies total. Keenan Windows was far superior from scheduling the appointment quickly and easily to arriving on time to completing the work in very little time. I highly recommend this company!!

 + 0 moreFrom the moment we met Jeff (owner), we knew that we were dealing with a professional committed to providing a quality service at a competitive price. (Plus, once you have a face to face conversation with him you quickly realize that he is really quite personable and just a nice guy.) When we met to discuss the formal estimate, we were given options and were not subjected to the usual hard-sell that comes with these types of visits. Jeff knew that we had priced around - and was ready to give us the best price he could. When we signed the contract (right on the spot, by the way; that's how impressed we were with him), he called his office and got us our installation dates. A few days later, we called him with a slight change (change two of the windows from up/down to sliders) and that was handled with no problem. As the date approached, we received a call - and, on the day of the install, they were there, bright and early, as scheduled. They had estimated two days for the install - and that's exactly how long it took. We knew from others that had installed windows that there would be a lot of dust as a result of this type of a job, but the folks at Keenan Windows really worked hard to minimize it. They showed up with shop vacuums and used them as part of the take down process. As a result, yes, there was dust, but it was much minimized by their procedures. The guys doing the install were friendly and considerate - and did a GREAT job! We are VERY happy with our windows and our door. From start to finish, this company is a pleasure to deal with and I would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again. GREAT WORK!!

 + 0 moreInitially, I thought it was going to be a good deal. When I first called them it was October 2010. Since I was having other work done on the house, I didn’t want the windows put in at that time. They kept my name on file and called me over the next several months until I was ready to have the windows done. They didn’t harass me; they just called every four months or so. They were very good at selling me the job and giving me a good price. I had done the pricing on this over several years. When I first started looking at windows, everyone was putting in impact-resistant windows and those prices were sky high. I wanted to change my windows to save on air conditioning cost; my windows were old and leaky. Because I couldn’t afford the impact-resistant windows, I got insulated windows and hurricane shutters. The state gave me half back on what I spent on the shutters. When they came out to do the work they said it was going to create a mess. They weren’t kidding. My biggest complaint with them is that the owner will tell you something, but he’s not here while they are doing the job and it only took them one day. In order to keep the dust down when they were taking the old windows out, they had a huge vacuum cleaner and they put the hose right next to their screwdriver. I realized that there was no filter for the dust that was coming out the back of the vacuum cleaner. All the dust went everywhere. Every surface in the rooms was covered in the dust. It got into the air conditioner; I left the air conditioner on because it was July and it was hot. As soon as I realized what they were doing, I turned the air conditioner off but it was too late. They told me there was a filter in the vacuum cleaner but it obviously wasn’t working and they didn’t have a new one. They called the boss about the filter and he said he would be out in a while. In the meantime they kept working and I finally stopped them. I was absolutely beside myself. The boss’s take on it was that he told me it was going to make a mess. It was unbelievable. The windows look great and they passed inspection. We haven’t had a hurricane since then and hopefully they won’t leak. I would probably go to someone else if I had to do this again.

Description of Work: Jeff Rubert is a professional and experienced businessman. He delivered on everything he told us from the very beginning. On the day of the install the crew, headed up by Andy, arrived at 8:30am and went right to work. They took marvelous care of the house and premises and made sure everything was draped and secured before they started the work. They cleaned as they went along from room to room. I was amazed to see true professionals in action, it was a great experience. The guys were all personable and answered any questions or concerns we had as they progressed. The job was completed in just a few hours and I was surprised to see the crew cleaning the new windows on the outside and the inside. What a great perk! We can't say enough to really do these guys justice. The best we can say is, when you are in the market for new windows, don't hesitate to call KEENAN WINDOW & DOOR. They will really impress you with their professionalism and great attitudes and concern to do the job well. We would definitely have them back to do more work should the need arise in the future, and would highly recommend KEENAN WINDOW & DOOR to anyone looking for a great product and a great company.  + 0 moreWe had quotes from several companies to do this job for us. We wanted French Doors and replacement of all of our windows with impact glass. When Jeff came to the house he brought with him samples of the glass, the tint, etc. He spoke as a professional not as a sales person and answered each of our questions. We were given a date when the material would be available and when the job would be completed. The crew showed up on the day they said they would with the tools, the covers to protect my floors, my furniture, TV and computers. Andy, Eric, and Clint were there at 8:00 a.m. They told me where they would start and went to work immediately. They were very professional, personable, caring for my home and for my concerns as I saw them taking out my doors and windows. They work well as a team every day and completed the job on time. What a beautiful job. Yes, I would hire them again, I felt they did a good job of cleaning as they worked. There is a certain amount of dust that is unavoidable when taking out the old and putting in the new but I was happy with how well they cleaned and protected my home.

Description of Work: Home visit estimate given the next day. Estimate was itemized and competitive. Appointment was made a few weeks out but that was due to special order time for windows. Appointment time was very punctual. Removed old windows and put in new windows. Permit was pulled and permit package left with instructions. Appointment was made with inspectors. Inspection took 2 minutes. I am happy.

 + -1 moreAfter we called Keenan, a pleasant, professional guy named Dan came out that same day and gave us an estimate (which we accepted) that same day. We then had to wait a couple of months for installation. About 3 weeks after signing the contract we decided we wanted 2 of the windows to open up-and-down rather than from side-to-side; I called Dan (customers get his cell phone #) and he took care of this with no problems. Installation was yesterday. The 3-person crew was very efficient, finishing the entire project in one day. They did a great job--e.g., not cracking any of the marble sills, even though this is a risk when removing old windows--and we are very happy with our new windows. After determining what day would be good for us, Dan scheduled a city code enforcement person to come out this Tuesday. He says that, although he expects the inspection to be routine, should the inspector have any questions, we should just call him on his cell and he can talk to the inspector directly. I recommend Keenan without reservation. A couple of FYIs: 1) Keenan offers a 10% discount to Angie's listers. The price mentioned above includes this discount (i.e., from 8900 to 8010). 2) If you have bookcases or other similarly complex surfaces, it is probably a good idea to cover them with plastic sheeting before the installation. The crew itself uses tarps and vacuums to catch almost all of the dust, but enough got away that we do have some cleanup.

 + -1 moreGreat.... polite, professional, on time, work done promptly and great quality.... also, I had heavy duty steel (not aluminum) shutters installed and it cut my home insurance by a third... the shutters will pay for themselves in just 2 years!
Description of Work: I'm sorry to be getting this in so late. This work was done in 2011 about a year ago. I don't have the work invoice, so the date of service and cost are estimates. Shutters were installed. I was very pleased. I called the company a few days ago to ask about awnings and they remember my name without me telling it to them (just told them the address). This is a very good company that does good work and in a very frienldy and professional manner

Dan followed up to ask if any problems were encountered and sent his crew immediately for a problem with the front door which was fixed correctly with an apology from the installer. Crew was friendly and professional.

 + 0 moreThe several written estimates we received came in various formats (some unprofessional) and a few took awhile to receive. However, Keenan Windows had an estimate to us within two hours after they were at our home. Their estimate was very inclusive and covered every aspect of the materials and labor. They also offered the lowest price for the most comprehensive window and door replacement plan. After selecting Keenan Windows for the job, the start date was approximately three weeks out. During that time, Jeff and Dan (the owners of Keenan Windows) kept in touch to make sure we were aware of the progress on our order. The job was scheduled to take five days to complete and on the first day and every day after, Keenan personnel were at our home at the scheduled time and performed their job professionally and courteously. There were several times during the job that Keenan Windows personnel didn't like the way something didn't fit just right or look correct and immediately took the time and effort to adjust it accordingly. To me, that showed that they take a great deal of pride in the quality of their workmanship. Part of our job was replacing windows and a door in a family room that I had concerns about due to the design of the walls and door frame. Every other company that estimated the job had a different opinion on how to handle this, however Keenan Windows was the only company to design a specific plan to reinforce and wrap the posts between the windows and doors. Their staff did an excellent job in taking precautions to move and cover our personal belongings and furniture and were a pleasure to work with. With a project this large, some unforeseen issues are bound to arise and a few did occur. When they did, Keenan Windows was easy to work with to find a quick solution. I tend to be a stickler for details, especially with work around our home. After Keenan Windows completed the replacement of all of my windows and doors, I believe that they did the best job I could have had done and most importantly, they were extremely comfortable and trustworthly to work with.
Description of Work: After getting several estimates to install hurricane impact windows and doors in our home, we elected to go with Keenan Windows for the job. Our decision was based on several factors such as price, the company's timely response, and how comfortable they made us feel in dealing with them. Keenan installed a total of twenty-two impact windows and three impact doors.

 + 1 moreOn the day of installation the crew arrived bright & early. Their team is fantastic....very proficient, neat and polite. The windows were finished in one day & the doors were in place (awaiting inspection). After inspection, a couple of days later the Keenan crew and owner came out to do the finishing touches. The windows & doors are just beautiful; we are so happy....what a wonderful enhancement to our home.
Description of Work: We needed new windows and two new doors. They came over in two days and measured all openings and showed us different window styles to choose from. In a couple of days they returned to leave us a written price quote and to go over the details of the job etc. We did get other estimates, but we were more pleased with Keenan's pricing and professionalism, we agreed to have them install our windows; since they were the ones that installed the shutters.

 + -1 moreCalled for estimate, Dan was here the next day to take measurements for accordion shutters. We received a call the following day with a price quote and time frame for installation. We were happy with the pricing and terms & conditions so we agreed to go ahead with the work. On the day of installation the boys were here bright & early...they were quiet, professional and finishedall the windows in two days. The team cleaned up all the work areas, you would never know they were here except for the beautiful new shutters. They look terrific and are so easy to open & close when needed for inclement weather. We were very pleased with all the work....everything was done at the quoted/promised price and completed on time.

 + -1 moreCalled Keenan on Friday after Thanksgiving and left a message to set up an appointment for an estimate. I was called back on Saturday but was working so I could not answer. Jeff called again on Monday morning and we scheduled an afternoon appointment for 1pm. He was 10 minutes early which I appreciate and took measurements and listened to my needs regarding the doors. He explained to me the type of door that would be best and left me with a brochure to look over as well as website I could get more info from. Jeff told me he would have an estimate emailed to me in a couple of hours and it was. Everything went well the cost was average compared to other companies and I know from my research that the brand was top of the line. He also gave me the name of a local company that installs garage doors as Keenan does not offer that service. While we did not decide to use Keenan I would not hesitate to recommend them or to use them in the future.

It took me a long time to finally make my decision to have the work done because of the horrible experiences I have had in the past, real gun shy. I decided to hire Jeff and his company, Keenan Windows, because of his professionalism in our initial meetings; he answered all my phone calls promptly and courteously and was very knowledgeable in the product lines he installs. He even brought me samples from the different window manufacturers. Soon after the contract was signed, he called with an installation date, which was about 5 weeks out. First he and then his team came out promptly on that date. They were all professional and courteous, taking care to cover my wood floors and respectful of personal possessions. They not only did a fabulous job installing my new windows and doors, but they took the time to fix windows that were installed, 2 years prior, by another company incorrectly!!!!! That blew me away!!! The finish work was meticulous and amazing and they cleaned up equally as well. I can't say enough good things about them. Their performance was in sharp contrast to the people I employed to do the addition to my home as well as my kitchen renovation. They were in and out exactly when they said and with an eye for detail finish, that blew me away. I have never hired anyone a second time, but after this experience with Keenan Windows, I hired them on the spot and ordered a new front door to be installed in about 2 weeks. Thanks so much Jeff for the great job you and your guys did....I appreciate it greatly!!!

 + -1 moreOverall, the process was fluid. Keenan was on time, they did what they said they would do. Dan from Keenan was in communciation with us often keeping on top of our needs and Keenan's needs. From the time we got the quote to the time with windows were installed was 4 weeks. This included us getting a rebate/loan from the city, signing contracts, permits, ordering windows, installation, and inspections. What I did not consider was the silicone materials used as caulk, they had high VOC's (Volitile Organic Compounds) that cause a strong chemical odor to the point, I was ill the first night. Had I known, I would have aired the house out more after the installation or stayed away that first night. We had a problem with the City Inspector who came to sign off on the job but Keenan took care of everything within 24 hours getting our inspection completed.
Description of Work: I had applied and received the Smarts Watt Home Energy rebate and loan from the City of Fort Lauderdale, I had to install Energy Star rated high impact windows. I contacted several window companies and got my first quote at $10,000, second quote from Home Depot at $8,100 and finally found Keenan. Their estimate was $7,400 and I got a 10% discount for being Angie's list. The total cost of windows was $6,900 plus Keenan found another rebate for me from the window manufacturer. Not alot but the fact that they got the extra rebate made me feel better about the transaction. So pricing alone, I felt that I got an installer that was working with me, Keenan understood the Smart Watts program, they worked with me as I worked with the City filling out paperwork, meeting city deadlines. Before the installation, the Keenan sales rep (Dan) came over to my house with the installer and walked through the job looking at each window with me so I knew what was going to happen, how it would happen, what I should expect with my new windows especially since I was going from wooden roll out windows in a wooden frame with deep seals, separate wood frame screens to vinyl slide up and down impact windows with screens attached. I was concerned that the existing sills, frames, etc would not work with new windows. Keenan showed me what was going to happen, how it all worked together. I knew before the windows were installed that the job would be successful. They spent the extra time with us before the install so we did not worry so much during/after the install. Keenan installed the job exactly at price they quoted me, they installed the day they said they would be at my home to do the installation. I had 8 windows that were original to my home from 1957 removed and replaced with impact, energy star windows. The two installers did the job in 1/2 a day, my home was no worse off than when they arrived. The only thing I wish I knew before hand was how offensive and strong the window caulk smelled. It has taken days to get that smell out of my house. Luckily I have beautiful new windows that open easily to air out my house. For the first time since I have owned my home (3 years) I can open all the windows to let in the air. It is a different house, Keenan did it on time, within my budget and worked with me to utilize city programs and I have a one year warranty to let the windows settle into my home. Would I use Keenan again, I already have. They came back today (October 27, 2011) to replace a cracked window in my kitchen.

 + -1 moreAfter my initial call, Dan and his bother-in-law dropped by the same day on their way home from work, to speak with me about the project and take the measurements of the three windows.The visit took about one-half hour and I had a "firm-price" estimate, before they left. After taking a couple of days to discuss it with my wife, we felt that Kenan would be best for our job.I called them the next day and again, Dan was at our home within a couple of hours to review the timetable of the project, have us sign the paperwork and collect a 50% deposit, after honoring our Angie's List coupon for 10% off!Thanks to a co-operative building and zoning board, the permit was issued relatively quickly (for our city!) and we received a tentative date for installation, if it was convenient for us. It was and they showed up right on time; two young, polite young men, who carefully removed our old "Bahama-style" shutters without damaging our home where the bolts had been set. They completed their job in a few hours and the yard was meticulously clean upon their completion. They even hauled our old shutters away in their truck.Kenan is a first-class, professional business. The entire process from my first call to them and mentioning that I found them on Angie's List, through the job completion was a pleasure. That's a statement that is not often made about the service industry in South Florida. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area look to replace windows, erect hurricane shutters, and/or replace doors.They are courteous, fair, and professional.
Description of Work: In an effort to lower the cost of our new homeowner's insurance by installing several hurricane mitigation improvements, we had to replace three, "Bahama-style," drop-down, hurricane shutters. We had already made up our minds to install the "accordion" style, which are more expensive than the simple, corrugated panels, but much easier to use. Instead of trying to rely on friends' recommendations, we joined Angie's List to look for vendors to perform the job. It was there that we found Kenan Doors & Window, whom we selected to do the job.

 + -1 moreNot much to say here, these guys are top notch. I found them on Angies list, got quotes (from others also off Angies list) and gave them the go ahead. (Jeff and Dan) I chose them on the basis of both cost and caring. The price as compared to others was excellent. I felt these guys really cared about what they do and that proved correct. From calling them, meeting them to discuss the job and negotiating the details, along with after the job was done, they followed through and were professional, polite, on time, kept to our arrangement and the workmanship was A-1 and looked great. It took about 5 weeks before the job could get done because the windows were not available from the manufacturer. On the day, Andy and Eric, the crew assigned, came in & did the work. Six windows took one day. In my case I had one window that I suspected had water damaged wood around it and that proved correct. Keenan were ready to replace it but my neighbor (at my request) who is a contractor came around and fixed it while the guys installed the other windows... After permit inspection was done, the guys came back to install screw covers and cosmetic trim. When I do the rest of the windows, I will look them up.
Description of Work: Replacement of 6 windows with double pane, gas filled, impact windows. I replaced the windows primarily to stop heat getting in, the bonus was noise reduction, no need for hurricane screens and they are theft resistant. I saw a lot of windows and opted for the windows with greatest heat resistance.

 + -1 moreI was disappointed that they did not bother responding to my enquiry. I followed up with a phone call, and they said that they did not take hurricane shutters off and put them on again. That's probably why they didn't bother to return my initial enquiry. They did, however, give me the number of a guy who seems happy to do what we need. Let's hope he turns out to be more responsive than these guys.

 + -1 moreThe job went incredibly well overall. They are amazing guys when it comes to speed and cleanup. They are immaculate. They are nice guys to work with. They were very professional and very pleasant. Their price was very good; in fact their price was less given the amount of care and work and cleanup. Normally when you have carpets installed or something like that, you have to go behind the installers and clean the area. These guys were working with motor and dust and all of that and there was absolutely no need to follow behind them. It was amazing and the clean up was great. They were A+ on everything and an A++ on professionalism.
Description of Work: We used Keenan Window and Screen about a couple of years ago for hurricane shutters.

 + 1 moreFrom phone call to payment it was a pleasure! They are great to work with, show up when they say, and something many contractors don't do (clean up after themselves). April was helpful on the phone and was available for my many, many questions. I have recommended them to others who have in turn passed on the good word. Thats the best compliment!!
Description of Work: I had Keenan install accordion shutters on some of my windows, he has also done numerous screen repairs for me over the years. I am now in the process of getting windows and sliders replaced with impact windows and sliders.
