We recently renovated our master bathroom and needed some help on finishing touches. We found Robert Moffat working at a home around the corner from us and got his card. He came over same day and inspected the work that needed to be done. He said he could start that Monday. He started as he said he would. Come the end of the 2nd day, he approached me as he was leaving for the day and asked for payment in full. This was unsettling, as the work wasn’t completed yet. I never received an invoice, all we had was a verbal agreement on the $ per hour he was charging us. I told him I would speak with my husband and have a check for him. I wasn't comfortable paying him in full and I was caught off guard not having an invoice or bill to review. After a few rude text messages from Robert, we told him we would have a check the next time he came to finish the work. He showed up, late after postponing finishing the work several times. He worked for about 2 hours, said he had to leave as he was at a stand still and needed to complete the work after a few walls had dried ext. I wrote him a check for the full amount, work still wasn’t completed. He left my house immediately, went the bank and cashed my check. We haven’t seen him since. We have called, texted and left voicemails. He has continued to give us excuse after excuse of why he can’t come finish; eventually it turned into no responses at all. We texted him and called for days, he lied to us and told us infant son was sick, he claimed he had reached out to us however we had no messages or calls from him. He was paid for a job that he didn’t complete. The work that was done, was poor to say the least. We asked him to apply a shower floor sealer. He applied the sealer with a towel, which didn’t take, after reading the directions on the product it specifilty indicated to NOT use a towel for application. I ended up doing it myself, the correct way. We asked him to re texture a few areas on the walls. He retextured a few places and then left huge gaps around light switches, mirror edges, ext. And the texture doesn’t even match the original walls. We wanted frames mounted around the mirrors on the wall. We asked for it to be done so we wouldn’t see the edges of the mirror, he disregarded how we wanted it done and left us with edges not meeting and mirrors edges exposed. Not to mention the wood was not treated or painted. He left chunks of dry wall missing along the bullnose on the shower title, and didn’t patch dents in the wall he made. There was no reason why these things shouldn’t have been taken care of. Over text messages is was made very clear the work that needed to be done. I sent him a list just like he asked. Not to mention several detailed phone calls between him and my husband. Overall our experience was nothing to be satisfied with. He was rude to me, showed up late, worked short hours, didn’t complete the work and then collected payment to never come back. He had the nerve to bad mouth the work that was done prior to his, for his to only be worse. I do not recommend him for any work at your home.

On the ground floor of my home Moffat laid porcelain tile over pergo (laminate)! On the 2nd floor Moffat did not repair floor with trusses, and laid tile with 10% adhesion compared to the 80% that is necessary. In short, ALL the tile had to be demoed out...thousands of $$ of brand new tile!!! The painting was a disaster with patches left unpainted and holes in the walls that were not patched. The shower he created was not completed. The knee wall that was created (which needed a drywall professional which Moffat is not) had crooked sides. In short, this was a horrible and unprofessional destruction of my home. Furthermore, Moffat was not even insured to lay tile...only carpet! This was a nightmare experience and that required over $12,000 to repair.
Description of Work: This provider was contracted to lay tile in my home, paint my home, create a shower from a bathtub, and reduce a wall to a knee wall.
