Mark Kaufman Roofing

Contracted with this Mark Kaufman 3/2023 for new Tile roof. Selected them on a referral from a neighbor who used them a few years ago. After some research the company had been in business for 30 years with good reputation. I later found out Founder Mark Kaufman sold company and new ownership has used the good name without disclosing new management. Since our new roof we now have major Black mold and ceiling a damage. We have 3 separate leaks in our home in different rooms. We do have a 20 year warranty, but after 4 visits to repair the leaks we still have major problems. We are seniors and have advise this company that our Dr. Is concerned with reason health problems related to week of this Mold and mildew. We are still waiting for the leaks to Ben corrected and a commitment to contract with a mold remediation company and resolve ceiling damage problem. Bad experience with this company. Back in July, when I contracted with them, I explicitly stated that I DID NOT want my roof torn off until the tile was ready for delivery. They said that "we only begin tear off when we have the tile and delivery to job site will be within one week" = NOT TRUE. Tile was removed approximately one month ago but still have not had new tile delivery. I called (3) times asking about delivery, each time they responded "it is scheduled for this coming Monday, production manager will call you Friday to confirm" = NOT TRUE, I never get a call from them. I have to initiate all communication. They only called me one time...to ask for money. I have repeatedly cancelled my plans to accommodate them but they consistently give me the run around. I chose this company over others to support a local business in North Port even though they were not the least expensive. As a comparison; my neighbor, who has a larger property, contracted with SunCastle Roofing about a two months ago and his roof has been completed for approximately the same cost. I am totally frustrated with this company, I would never use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone.

Lots of extraordinary excuses from lost file to half of the tiles purchased were broken in the install process. Poor communication with production manager, Masen Hall, I felt he was condescending and flippant. Very difficult and frustrating experience for a senior woman!

Mark Kaufman roofing did my roof and did a fantastic job. They did an amazing job at cleaning up and a very far price. They came back and even installed gutters. Fantastic job. A++

I contracted with Mark Kaufman Roofing thinking they were a cut above the rest. However I found this to not be accurate. Friday evening right after they laid the new underlayment we had a hard downpour. We literally had water running down from a water closet vent fan, soaking the ceiling, floor, and trim underneath it. Additionally, we had a leak in a different area leaving the ceiling wet. I called the main office, the job supervisor’s cell phone, and even left an email on the main web site. “Call me on my cell anytime,” the job supervisor said. But that apparently doesn’t include after hours or on weekends. I did not hear back until Monday morning. (Note that they are not responsible for workmanship issues that cause damage to your home. Not even from initial workmanship issues.) Part of the contract was for Mark Kaufman Roofing to replace damaged wood (not unlimited – I would need to pay for excessive wood needing replacement, which I was fine with). The result was that the amount of wood was less than what we contracted for, however one board that needed to be replaced was a four-foot length of rough sawn trim (approx. 1.5” x 6”) over the garage. Mark Kaufman Roofing replaced it with a piece of 2 x 6 framing lumber, knots and all. I brought this to the attention of the job supervisor, however it was not fixed, nor did they ever say why they used common framing lumber for trim. I called the original salesman who sold the job to me, and he said he was unaware of the problems, but that the owner would want to call to find out what was going on. I responded that to find out what was going on he first needed to talk to his job supervisors, as I had talked to them about the problems, and they knew exactly what had gone wrong. That was the last I heard from Mark Kaufman roofing. I really dislike having conflicts with contractors. However, based on their response so far, I have concerns that Mark Kaufman Roofing will continue to stonewall me in the future regardless of the guarantee. I hope others will learn from my experience.

Roof was not leaking but was old. Decided to re-shingle to avoid any problems later. Unfortunately we now have had ,since 2019, 7 leakes in 6 rooms. We have large damages to our ceilings and our roof is still leaking. They came out and fixed some leaks but told us the others they were not going to fix. Blamed it on our siding which is below the roof line. Besides it didn’t leak until they put a new one on! Owner is a pompous blowhard! I would not use this company to roof my dog house! Terrible terrible people!!!

It was the single worstt experience I have had with a subcontractor on the numerous homes I have built and owned. I used mark Kaufman Roofing after doing some research online. I truly wished I had not used them period. My roof is a total disaster after two different crews from Mark kaufamn Roofing were out to my house. Countless roofng tiles were damaged, leaks in the roof immediately following the repair and I mean the same night, extremely poor workmanship, nonresponsive salesman (Justin Martin) anan overall a terrible job. I now have numerous leaks created by their work, my roof is a total mess as assessed by several roofing contractors in Sarasota. Mark Kaufman Roofing are very unaccountable unless you really get serious. They have caused roofing damage, drywall and paint damage and soffit/fascia damage. There are many reputable companies out there that assessed Mark Kaufman's roofing damage that are much better equipped to handle your needs. Do not use this company as they will deny any poor workmanship and have no real concern for your property or time. They have casued thousands of dollars in repairs. it took a lot of arguing and energy to get them to commit to reapiring the roof which has yet to be determined if they can actually do it properly.

On time, on budget and after all the rain we have gotten still dry. Very professional. Would hire them again.

Perfect.! Everyone was professional and eager to please. I highly recommend them . Have received many compliments on my roof and couldn't be happier. Working with Keith and Justin was a pleasure.

Excellent service. This was the second time I used them.They were on time and answered my concerns. When there was a problem that arose, the field Manager Keith sent someone late in the evening to fix the problem. Very professional staff . A great company, great price and I love their warranty on the roof repair. Thank you.

The roofer did a great job and spent much more time up on the roof than I had anticipated; they were not the cheapest, but I am very glad I chose them as I think they were very thorough and complete. I am very pleased with the price/value; Hopefully, I will not have to replace my roof anytime soon, but for sure Kaufman is where I would first check out and probably hire as I trust them.

Estimator showed up promptly as scheduled and met with my wife to ask of our intentions. Without climbing on the roof to assess its condition or measure he told my wife he would email an estimate to me. No estimate was ever received. Very disappointed being this roofing company had an "A" rating per Angie's list.

After initial meeting, (Roofing Specialist was 45 minutes late), everything went really well. Our initial roof replacement was scheduled for 7/2/2018, but happily, it was rescheduled and moved up by their office to 5/17/2018. They had a large crew and they were able to complete the roof replacement in one day, only having to come back the following day for paint touch up on the newly installed roof vents because it started raining after roof was completed. We had two concerns about the installation and both were addressed to our satisfaction before payment was made. The only discrepancies we can fault them for is that the additional cost of work performed was not consulted with us prior to being done and final bill was not provided to us until payment was made. We would definitely recommend Mark Kaufman Roofing.

This company is fantastic. They even came to my home 2 times to repair the leaks from hurricane Irma damage before putting on the new roof. The price for the work dome was very reasonable. The workers were on time, fast and very polite. The cleanup was very thorough and all debris was cleaned up and hauled away. There was someone at my home every day to see how the work was progressing. I would very highly recommend this company. I can’t say enough good things about them.

Great excepted it failed inspection because there were not enough nails in some of the shingles by code. So they came back and made sure it was done to code.

Hurricane Irma caused a lot of roof problems in SW Florida and all roofing contractors were booked solid and running way behind schedule. Mark Kaufman Roofing told us they would get to our roof around the end of January or early February and they held true to their promise. Their crews were neat, very polite, very professional and hard workers. They treated us, our two dogs, and our home with respect and made sure to clean up each day. I would fully recommend them.

Kaufman's bid was considerably below two other roofing contractors. Roofs are still being repaired from hurricane IRMA's damage and many roofing contractors won't even return your calls while others are gouging clients. They came out less that a week after I requested an estimate and then told me they couldn't get to it for three weeks. In three weeks, they came, did the repair work professionally and neatly. A week later they billed me and I paid the bill over the internet.

We are very pleased with the work, the employees, the professional manner in which everything was handled. They cleaned up at the end of the day. And they completed the job in a timely manner.

They got to our project weeks before they estimated. They were professional and job was on time. Good communication on status of repairs.

They set up appointment and their guys showed up when they said they would. Totally professional, went up on roof to confirm damage and to give me a signed estimate for Insurance company. Now just waiting for insurance company to stop dragging their feet. Gave them a B overall just because they have not actually done the job yet.

On Monday, June 19, 2017, another contractor viewed the repair on the roof and inside the house where water is pouring and said the leak is in exactly the same place as Kaufman repaired!!
