Elisa resides in the same luxury beach-front building as the condo we were trying to sell - this was my father's home. She began to contact us in the Spring of 2014 after we moved my father out of his unit to live with us on the other side of the country - he was having health problems. We told her that we'd get back in touch once we knew where things were going, but that it probably would not be until the end of that year until we had a better idea. When we decided to wanted to list the place for sale, we considered working with her because of her local knowledge, but it quickly became apparent that she was someone who didn't have our interests at the forefront. She was intent on impressing us with how quickly she could sell the unit without first trying to understand what we wanted out of the transaction. Several times she made comments like: "the market's really hot right now, so you need to get this listed right away - I've got a buyer ready right now who'll offer a million dollars." As I carefully researched the options for realtors on Angie's list, I decided to travel to Miami to meet with a couple of the most-highly rated professionals. I realized oddly that Elisa didn't have any reviews on Angie's list. The interviews went well, and I chose a realtor who was really spectacular - down to earth, sincere, and interested in making things go smoothly for me. After that decision was made, Elisa kept contacting me, even though I let her know I had chosen another realtor. Once she found out who the listing agent would be, she then tried to convince me he couldn't handle the listing "because his office is so far away." Within a couple of months, the condo was refurbished and ready for listing, and - even though she knew there was a listing agent - she then contacted me directly (not through our realtor): "I've got a buyer in town, and she's just about to leave, but she'd like to see your place right now so she can make a million dollar offer." Her unprofessional conduct and high-pressure sales tactics were abhorrent in my opinion, and she impugns the reputation of realtors. It gave me great pleasure that our place listed for only three weeks, sold for an extremely favorable price ($250,000 more than what she proposed her "million dollar buyer" thought it was worth), and I had the peace of mind working with another realtor instead who was a joy to work with. I write very few negative reviews, but unprofessionalism needs to be called out: a spade is spade. For anyone contemplating working with Elisa Wagner: caveat emptor.
