D & D DRYWALL SPECIALTIES

Friendly-ish, but not very good at what they do. I normally do my own drywall work, but I was up against a moving deadline & had to hire it out. Issues were: screw spacing was random, didn't use a dimpler, so many screws tore through the face, field joints weren't close to flat, & texture was acceptable in most areas...but not all. I wound up sanding down & retexturing the ceiling & all but one wall as I thought that one was ok. After painting & installing the vanity lights, I discovered that was also really bad (see pic...half was covered by mirror at least)...kicked myself for not redoing that one too. When I pointed out some of the issues mid-work, they weren't very receptive...

 Before starting the job, they insisted they could meet all requirements including special ceiling texturing.  They worked on their own schedule which varied daily.  Basic drywall installation was average, but they installed some portions with the wrong side of the drywall out and insisted that it would be OK after the texture was applied!!  In over 50 years of working with drywall, I had never seen this done before.  They were not happy when we insisted that those pieces be replaced.  The 'mud and tape' phase was average, but they never finished the final sanding needed to achieve a smooth finish.  They again insisted this would be covered with the wall texture.  They sprayed a "Spanish Lace" texture on the walls which looked pretty good except for a patched area which stood out like a sore thumb.  When it came time to texture the ceiling, they tried several times to achieve the required texture and failed each time.  They were replaced with another drywall company who were able to complete all the remaining tasks and correct all of D&Ds mistakes in an outstanding manner.  D&D would never have been allowed to start this job if we had known that they would be unable to complete it!  I would definitely not have this company in my home again.
