We called this company and asked for an estimate to replace our kitchen disposal (we indicated we'd furnish the new disposal). The dispatcher said she would need to send a plumber out to give us an estimate and that they would charge a fee for a service call even if we decided not to use their company for the work after receiving the cost estimate. We called another highly rated plumber from Angie's List that gave us a fair price for this relatively simple project over the phone. We used their service and they completed the work and did an outstanding job the same day. It appears Benjamin Franklin wants to lock you into using their service by charging a fee for a simple estimate since most customers will likely feel committed once they have the plumber on-site with a bill for a service call/estimate in his hand. Take our advice....don't get ripped off....call another plumber from Angie's List!

BEWARE THIS COMPANY!!! I will start by saying that the professionalism and punctuality on the phone while setting up the appointment was fantastic. The tech showed up on time and as scheduled. I was going to get some water lines run to a new tankless water heater. I called Benjamin Franklin and was told that there would be a $69.99 trip charge for an estimate (I live less than 2 miles from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing) that would be refunded when I had the work done. The tech showed up the next morning as scheduled. He reviewed the work to be done and worked up a price quote. Prior to handing me the quote, he mentioned that I could join the "Ben's Society" club to save 20% off all plumbing work. The club is a $99 membership charge that allows for a once a year plumbing inspection and 20% off any services. He quoted me a price of $625 with labor and supplies, but told me that if I joined the club, the price would only be $609. I asked him how long the job would take and he said about 2 hours. I questioned him why it would be over $600 and he responded that about $100 was for parts the rest for labor. I paid him the $69.99 trip charge and sent him on his way. Bottom line, I hired another plumber to do this work. Indeed it did take this other plumber 2 hours, but the total for part AND labor was only $205. Benjamin Franklin's apparent business model is to try to scam people into signing onto recurring service charges in the name of "saving money". They then price things so high, that they hope you will just sign up, and get the work done as to not lose the $69.99 trip charge (even for a 5 minute drive). BE VERY AWARE BEFORE YOU CALL THIS COMPANY!

I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing on a Friday night, as our water heat seemed to be having issues with keeping up with the demand from our household. I knew the unit was very old and it would need to be replaced soon, but if there was a possibility of simply repairing it, I would have been satisfied with that action. When I called in, I was greeted with nothing but professionalism and thoroughness, from the office staff right down to the plumber. My experience with the company was surprisingly, nothing but top-notch! Often I find that service/repair related companies are a little under handed and very uninterested in it's customer's best interest. That was absolutely not the case with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. I had plenty of questions and each question was answered quickly and accurately. After discussing my options, we were able to determine that a plumber would need to come out and take a look at the water heater. They were quick to let me know that not only could I utilize an evening appointment, but "If it was more convenient for" me they would send a plumber out on Saturday! This was very impressive. I asked for the Saturday appointment and the plumber called before he left the shop, he was punctual, as promised, and furthermore he was prepared! He arrived in a truck loaded with parts to do any repair needed, and even went so far as to bring a new water heater, just in case. After discussing my options with the plumber I decided to go with a new water heater. I was quoted a price, paid for the unit, and was even offered financing options. They installed the system the same day! The whole experience was amazing. The plumber was clean, courteous and independent. I did not feel the plumber needed monitoring, and the install was extra fast. My appointment did not last longer than a few hours. "Going the extra mile", would not even begin to describe how outstanding of a job this company did. If you are looking for a service/repair company that truly has it's customers best interest at heart, its with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. There will be no buyer's remorse here.

We just moved into our home, and had a variety of plumbing issues ranging from a leaky sink gto a toilet that doubled a a rocking chair. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing sent their plumber, Clifford, out the same day to address our issues. Clifford was very friendly, yet profesional. Even though our home looked like a construction site, he dutifully donned his ligttle blue booties at the door. After asking my husband what all of the issues were, he went right to work. Not only did he replace the flapper in the toilet in the hall bathroom that ran constantly and woke me up in the middle of the niht, but he tightened the rocking horse toilet down, and tightened the pipe under the sink, all the while breathing dust and paint fumes. I feel that I received a great value for my money, and will definitely use this company again.
