Paradise Pools built a pool, spa, and large paver deck at our house and arranged a screen enclosure too. The end product is an attractive pool the matches the plans. There is a defect (rust spot) in the plaster that Paradise attempted to fix but the spot returned within weeks. Paradise is very difficult to deal with due to poor communication, organization, and long delays. Initially they asked us to pick our pool materials (plaster, tile, pool design...) ASAP so they can get started soon, but they were six months late getting started and had another 2 month delay soon after starting. They don't give any warning or explanation about delays. Our 4-5 month project took July-April to complete. There where many times when I was told "we'll be there next week" with no follow through, multiple weeks in a row. They recommended Affordable Alluminum (Charlie from Ocala) to build the screen enclosure. He built the wrong structure and was worse to deal with. We have a security camera in the back yard so we could see when they were working. I caught one of the Paradise employees trying to open my back door soon after my wife left the house. I warned Dean about this. That employee still worked there months later. Once the pool was completed our back yard was a pile of construction trash and dirt. They wouldn't come clean it up for months and when they did they did an incomplete job. I took the last bit of trash and concrete to the dump myself and it was 1000 lbs of junk on the scale there. They killed all the grass in my backyard from all the dirt and equipment. They say they will grade the yard at the end of construction, but they left a very large dirt pile and a low point in the yard that became a mud pit. I was planning on soding the yard myself but I had to hire a landscaper to grade and finish due to the large amount of dirt to move around. Luckily our final product is pretty nice, but at friend had a worse experience and Paradise abandoned the unfinished project just before completion. Overall I cannot recommend this company.

Paradise Pool Company of Gainesville has not responded to us when we e-mailed them re the evidence of improper sealing of the pvc piping. Also a problem with improperly cured plaster. Takes no responsibility, blames the home owner
Description of Work: Large in ground pool completed Dec. 2011. Since Oct. 2015, less then four years after completion there have been multiple leaks. Leaks detection companies have found that the PVC plumbing in the autofill, underground pipe coming to the pump, and "collar to pot" join at the two main drains were all leaking due to improper installation of the pvc piping in that the joins were not properly primed and at the pump, not even cleaned before gluing. In the case of the two large drains, "blue glue" was used, a product for small joints, not major joints. Like the failure of the auto fill. Water loss from the autofill and main drains resulted in several hundred dollars of water cost until all points of loss could be detected and repaired, to say nothing of the cost of leak detection and repair, Pool also was leaking around all the lights

Paradise Pool Company of Gainesville is the single worst pool company in Alachua County. Warn your friends that if they want a pool installed, to seek business with any company other than Paradise Pools. Over the last 6 years since my installation, we have had 5 major repairs needed on our pool. Four of those repairs were leaks in the pipes of the system including two times at the drain, very bottom of the pool. Each repair has required major digging in our yard and two have required that our pool slab be jack hammered and destroyed. It?s bad enough that we are only able to use our pool from May to October due to the weather, but then to have the pool out of commission because you cannot get Paradise Pools to come out and do the repair is unacceptable. Paradise Pools does not know what the words Customer Service mean and do not demonstrate any level of customer service skills. They do not answer their phones and screen calls. You can leave messages and they do not return them. They are nothing short of dishonest businessmen. My latest repair was yet another leak in the pipes at the drain. After getting the leak detection company to locate the problem back in November of 2015, I made several attempt to contact Paradise Pools to come out and initiate a work order for my repair. I finally received a call on 12/15/15 and was told by Dean, the service manager, that the repair crew would be out on Friday 12/18/15. No one showed up. Again. No matter what time and date Paradise pools tells you they will be there, they don?t show up and they don?t ever call to let you know why or where they are. Now to pickup a check or sign a contract, they are there Johnny on the spot. The crew finally showed up at my home on 12/23/15, dug a 3x3 hole in my slab and foundation and left. From 12/28/15-1/24/16, I left a total of 22 voice mails on their system asking where the repair crew was, when they would be back and for the service manager Dean to call me back. I received one voice mail from Dean on 1/21/16, with a condescending remark of ?trying to call you, AGAIN.? Lie. He never tried to call me. On 1/25/16, we fired Paradise Pools and asked them to not step foot on our property again. This was done via voice mail because again, we could not get anyone to answer the phone. On 1/26/16, Dean called me and stated that the reason the repair was not done was because on 12/23/15 when the repair crew came out to the house that someone on the property told them to leave because the leak was already repaired and to leave the hole unfilled. What? If that was the case, why would I leave 27 voice mails asking when someone was going to be back to make the repairs? If that was the case, would it not make sense to call the customer and follow up and clarify the situation. Instead, Paradise Pools wants to call and offer me a bold face lie about the situation. When I explained my frustration to Dean that afternoon, he hung up on me. That?s right, hangs up on me. Tom Solberg is the president of the company and the sales man. He is your best friend until the minute you sign over the payment for the pool. At that point, you never see him or hear from him again. My pool install was guaranteed to be done in 45 days. 4 months later, my job was completed. Twice during the construction, the pool rebar that was setup fell and caved in. That should have been my first sign of the lack of engineering skills on behalf of Paradise Pools. One month after our pool was completed, the first leak occurred at the drain pipe putting the pool out of commission for 3 more months. Mention Paradise Pools among the circles of pool companies including Pinch a Penny, Fun State Pools, Florida Leisure Pools, American Leak Detection, Roberts Pool Repairs, to name a few and they cringe. Paradise Pools has the single handed worst reputation in the business. Side Note: We called Funstate Pools on 1/25 and they were out on 1/26 to my home to make the repair. It took them 45 minutes to patch the leak and fix my pool. 45 MINUTES!!! Shame on you Paradise Pools. Bottom line? Paradise Pools is unreliable, provides zero customer service, don?t show up for appointments when scheduled, don?t return calls, and are unbearable to deal with. I?d also like to add that they are not accredited by the BBB due to the number of complaints received. Read these other complaints below: -Ed boyd find someone else ..... they come for an hour or 2 per day..they don't have dependable equipment, but cheap harbor freight stuff ...Morefind someone else ..... they come for an hour or 2 per day..they don't have dependable equipment, but cheap harbor freight stuff and then they claim they will have there guy come set up your pool, chemically make it right and sweep it for a week to put it on the right path and then turn it over............. that guy is USELESS.... didnt see him for 5 days, had to start it up myself because i couldnt stand the odor and the look of the swamp water, he swept pool one day came the next and said it will be fine, it doesnt need brushing but once a week, yet his foreman says otherwise, as well as the web go elsewhere........final warning -A Google User Paradise Pools was contracted to keep and maintain the pool at University Commons, a student community across from the UF campus. During our four week relationship, Paradise Pools was not only inadequate in their attempts to keep the pool clean but when issues arose with our pool pump, their lack of experience and expertise caused our pool to become completely unusable (this happened between the months of July 2010 and August 2010; you could imagine the fury of our tenants). We contracted another pool company and have been happy since. Paradise Pool's idea of expedient service does not hold a light to any other pool service and repair company that we have experienced in Florida... it's non-existent. During the time that University Commons and Paradise Pools worked together, "paradise" never came to mind. -S.Raulerson, Alachua resident I really regret choosing Paradise Pool Company to build our pool. It has been a miserable experience. It is going to wind up taking them longer to finish my pool that it did to build my home. Not to mention that I cannot get anyone to return a phone call or respond to an email. So frustrated and disappointed. -Customer Warwicke We have worked with many contractors, this is by far the worst! Pool was to be finished in Aug/12, was not ready to use until Dec. Contractor used every excuse in the book, was often unresponsive. Specific problems: Deck was so uneven around the spa the owner had to insist it be redone as it was unsafe. The rest on the deck has very obvious sloping, is unsightly. Excuse given..shape of pool. Consultant states...problem with "shooting" pool between level from house, the pool and the footings. Basically no care for the new plaster. NONE! Now plaster is badly marked. Paradise rep. states looks normal. Immediate post plaster care was so poor that the skimmer basket split because it was so full of debis, and the pump had to be turned off by owner as it was so hot. Contract stated side sucking cleaner, a cheap hand vacuum head and tubing delivered. Later changed. Etc etc. etc. Summary..the owner is a great salesman, but in no way can we recommend this company as a pool contractor. -P. Sarantos I made the mistake of using Paradise pools to do a major pool renovation. They are 3 months late and not 1/2 way through the work. They are unresponsive and the owner has an attitude which prohibits him from working with other contractors and interior designers. I have done many home projects before and have never encountered such unprofessional and unacceptable behavior.miserable experience. It's going to end up taking them longer to finish my pool than it did to build my house. Not to mention no one will return phone calls or emails. So frustrated and disappointed.

We signed a contract in December 2011 to resurface our pool, which included a new skimmer, steps and updated piping and it wasn?t done until the end of September 2012 ? 10 months it took to finish this job. It was apparent early on that Paradise Pools had a serious issue with customer service. We were always cordial and respectful in our dealings with both Tom and Amy (owners). We probably called the office around 20 times trying to find out what was going on because they had not been on the job in several weeks or even as long as a month and there was no communication from them. In all of those phone calls either we had to leave messages, or Amy would say she would have Tom call us back and I think Tom only called my husband back maybe 2 or 3 times. They were very unresponsive. If we didn?t see them for a few weeks, we would have to call to find out what was supposed to happen next. We did not have any guidance on when to order/choose items, how to order items, what the protocol was for doing what on the pool. So progression of the pool was delayed, sometimes by months because we were waiting on them and did not understand that we needed to pick something out, no one bothered to contact us at all. At some point, because they would never call us back, I had to show up at their home/business to get their attention so we could make some key decisions on the tile and pool pavers. At some point we finally sent them an email, suggesting (in a very nice manner) that we mutually end the contract since it seemed like they were not interested in the job and we had already missed the entire summer without our pool. We were just ready to find someone else to contract out and finish the job. This was in August and we informed them that we would be out of town for three weeks. Well, they decided to put us on their list to finish during that time which created further issues and concerns. Immediately after the pool shell is plastered, the pool must be filled with water and the chemicals put in at a different rate than just normal because the shell has to cure for 30 days and you must keep the pump running during this time to circulate (we had to learn all this as we went along ? Paradise gave us NO information or guidance). Once they finished the shell we were to install our original pump. When we realized that our old pump no longer was working, we didn't even entertain asking for Paradise to provide a pump to buy and install because we had no clue how long it would take them due to their unresponsive and uncommunicative history. I had our local pool store install the pump but I called the office and left a message, texted Tom at Paradise, asking him what I needed to do. We did not receive an email back from Tom until the wrong chemicals were put in the pool. I called and left an message, sent an email and texted Tom with an urgent request asking what I was supposed to do now that the wrong chemicals were put in the pool. I never heard a word from them except we got their bill. Generally pool contractors make sure the pool is in working order and have some semblance of customer service for several weeks afterwards or at least are willing to give you guidance. The only guidance we received was the day after the pool pump was installed 2 techs were sent out. Because Tom had not called us back we were frantically trying to figure out what to do about the chemicals and how to run the new pump. All the support these guys could offer was, yep the chemicals were wrong, they added one gallon of acid in the pool and 3 chorine tabs in the skimmer and a couple of brush swipes to the side of the pool and left ? unbelievable, no advice, no help. And this one visit is the only visit/guidance we would ever get, we never gotten a follow up phone call to check on the pool or to see if we have any questions. This is also unbelievable. My husband called the Krystalkrete company (pool shell concrete people) directly. Krystalkrete immediately email him instructions on chemicals and what he needed to do for the curing of the pool shell (this takes 30 days) and were very informative and helpful on the phone. Once my husband was home and could also closely inspect the pool in general we found that some of the coping was not glued down nor grouted. They left their debris all over and a huge dirt pile in our yard from their tractor. I don?t think Tom, the owner, came to our house to inspect any of his workers work ever, yet they shot out their bills without hesitation. We feel like we held up our end of the contract, we paid our bills promptly once activity was performed and the bill was presented. Only 2 times did we question the completion of the job being billed for and we worked it out amicably and paid our bill. This pool company is not customer friendly, does not communicate with their customers, will bill you without any proper inspections and with not have done the work properly and they offer no follow up or guidance afterward. I would highly recommend avoidance of this company for any reason.
