Every remodel project is stressful and usually takes longer to complete than originally estimated. Those are just the facts of construction. Paul remodeled my 2 bedroom 2 bath condo in 2017. I thought it might we worth sharing what his work is like 5 years later. All of the work Paul did has held up well. The hardwood floors he installed look as good today as they did when first installed. The bathrooms were a total gut job and Paul totally transformed them. They are 1000% better than the original bathrooms. The changes and updates he made to the kitchen still serve us well. Most reviews are written immediately following completion of a project and I hope it is helpful to hear from someone who’s project was completed a few years ago and who continues to be pleased with Paul’s work.

Paul and his team did a great job, they arrived timely, communicated issues, and left the work area clean each evening. Obviously in this industry contractors have several jobs going at any time. Paul did a great job balancing projects and keeping us informed of what aspect would be next and who would be coming. They referred me to a shower glass door company and a granite company, both of which were excellent.

Buyer beware, you get what you pay for (and sometimes you do not even get that) In our circumstance, we scheduled with Paul Scott 8 months prior to the start of our project, and he had 3 months to complete the project. He did not start the build out until the last week of the 3 months, then asked for 2 more additional weeks (we had to relocate paying renters). Some work was not started or done because he had never scheduled with the subcontractors. When something was not done properly and addressed, Paul would never admit it was not correct, and would try and talk his out of it. Paul contacted us when he said he was done (we live out of state and had to leave due to how far past scheduling he was) and demanded payment in full. He was leaving for vacation and said, if we did not pay him in full, he did not have the money to pay the subcontractors and they would go without money during the holidays (this was 4 days before Christmas). We FedEx'd him a check for payment in full, then found out the next day when our cleaning person walked in, that they had not finished construction, there were toilets in the living room, and the unit was filled with construction debris, garbage cans, etc. We contacted Paul and his response was, he did not appreciate our frustration with him. There was damage to the unit (carpets) that he just never would reply to and never fixed, and he took items (2 sink backsplashes, that he was going to have reduced because they installed the sinks w/o properly measuring for the backsplash...and then tried to tell us that we did not need them) that he never returned with. When we contacted him about them, he response was...I cannot find them. We went with Scott Remodeling because the bid was less than the other contractors, but we found out through the process that Paul Scott does not stand behind his work or his word.

After a 1 minute estimate on site a deal was reached. We would purchase fixtures, lights, vanity and tile and contractor would supply the rest. Once permits were were issued a two week time frame was given. Weeks went by and work was not started even though the permit was waiting at town hall. A meeting between the contractor and the the building manager was not kept by contractor. A dirty work site was constantly issue with the building management. Bathtub was chipped during job and contractor only agreed to use touch up paint for repair. Work took months instead of weeks. Lies as to contractors whereabouts via phone. On one occasion I stumbled upon contractor on another job and he said it was an emergency job. When job was finally completed several items needed to be put on a punch list for repair. Contractor would send workers to fix items and they would constantly ask if their work was good enough for being considered completed. I began referring to the company as "good enough contracting". Payment was made in full and I never publicly complained till now. A year after the job was completed. Cracking grout, leaking tub drain, loose fixtures are just a few complaints. I have all documentation and dates of all my accusations for review. Homeowner beware!

Great job. The crew is efficient and the work is well done!
Description of Work: Scott's team repaired a leak in our daughter's home. They worked with a plumber who fixed the leak and then they repaired the ceiling where the leak had occurred. They replaced the drywall in the ceiling and then added molding and painted the ceiling and the walls. They did an excellent job. I would recommend them for any future job.

The condo was built in 1972 and not much had been done to our unit since, so a complete gut of the unit down to the studs was required. We removed walls, replaced flooring, all plumbing, appliances and completely replaced the kitchen including cabinets and counter tops. This project required electrical, plumbing, tiling, carpentry and AC work. Paul and his team were very competent in every phase of the project and the detail on the finished product is outstanding.

Description of Work: Paul Scott remodeled two bathrooms at our condo. The master bath remodel included relocating a wall, adding a walk-in shower and replacing an old whirlpool tub with a new one. This involved adding a second drain for the shower, a task other contractors were unwilling to perform. In addition, new wall and floor tiles were installed, as well as, a new vanity, lighting, exhaust fan and toilet. Electrical work was also involved (running a second circuit to the tub for the tub heater). The results were a master bath with lots of luxury. The second bathroom remodel included replacing all the fixtures, tile and tub and was not as extensive as the master bath. However, the workmanship was impressive. Although, the job took a bit longer than anticipated, the results are stunning. We couldn't be happier!

During the consultation (June 2014) Scott provided excellent description of services and told me it would be approximately 1 month before start date. He explained that during the demolition process all areas would be covered and protected from the debris. Unfortunately, nothing was covered and every physical surface was covered in airborne debris.. He sent cleaners in twice to try to rectify the situation to no avail. Next, there was a coupon offered on Angie's list that he would not honor. His comment: "That is still up There?" In his estimate, he told me that some of the line items would be adjusted accordingly to match the actual costs. He did not adjust the inspector fee as promised and I was overcharged $130 and he double charged me for the corner seat ($100) in the master shower. When I called Scott on this descrepancy, he said he provided "extras". I have yet to find any extras and he refused to reimburse me. Let's move on to the time it took to complete the job: he left one man to complete the job and after I called Scott several times complaining about the slow progress, he assured me that his "man" was making up time by working through the weekend. I was there the whole weekend cleaning up the mess, but no workman was there making up time. When I called Scott on Monday morning, it seems his 'MAN" walked off the job and stole some of my very expensive tile. Since, I have found additional items missing from my home, i.e. extension cord $20. And who knows what else. Scott was able to recover some items, but not all. I am still missing over half of my accent tile in my guest bath which adds to the $$ owed to mean additional $150. He tells me he has the cord and he will return it, but I am still waiting. I asked for reimbursement for the above listed items, he told me to call his MAN directly. Paul Scott did not take responsibility for his own employee's theft. Now for the final comments, after his MAN abandoned the job, he said he would be sending his "A TEAM" to complete the job which is funny because I would have thought his whole team was the "A" TEAM. Well, his A Team installed the shower faucet backwards so hot is cold and cold is hot. And left grout gaps in the tile where a trail of ants were coming in and out of the wall. I would hope in good faith and to salvage his reputation, he would submit the approximate $400 owed me, especially since he did not honor the 10% coupon offered on Angie's List which would be significantly more money.

Response from Scott Remodeling LLC
Re: Case #90141310 ; [member name removed] 12/29/14 As a courtesy we are responding to your consumer complaint we received recently, we have been unable to respond till this date due too our large workload. In making the following statement we would advise you due to the content of the complaint and the implication our company was involved or complaisant in theft, we would limit the details of some section of our response as they may be reserved for future legal action against [member name removed] or your company. It is true we contracted with [member name removed] to remodel her bathrooms. We wholly disagree with her statements regarding surface protection and the standard of our cleaning subcontractors. [member name removed] was informed before start date that it would be almost impossible to prevent fine demolition dust from migrating thru the home due to the level of demolition required and the type of work involved. Dust did cover certain areas of the home however other areas remained sealed off, and dust free, regular cleaning of the dust during construction was completed, our site diary and pay stubs will verify this. The final clean was completed by professional cleaners who will attest to its cleanliness. [member name removed] was also asked if we needed to do any further cleaning to which she declined. We would state No Damage was done too her home or contents, it is totally unreasonable to expect half your home to be remodeled with some level of construction dust. She complains that a discount was not offered, this is totally inaccurate. During pre contract negotiations [member name removed] asked me about the Angies List discount, I replied by offering her and even better discount if she paid ‘Cash’, the quote was adjusted and emailed to her, then subsequently she added further work items, the quote was reworked yet again and the discount still included, the 3rd version of the quote was signed by [member name removed] clearly showing the discount, we would gladly provide you with the signed contract copy. As a side note to the later, to highlight how [member name removed] frequently either misunderstood the contract or just decided too not honor it correctly, she was supposed to make a interim payment of 25% after ‘Rough In’ inspection was passed by the local inspector, she failed to do so, in-spite of this we showed good faith and completed the project before asking for the delinquent payment along with the final payment. Only when she was 100% satisfied with the work did she make a second payment. She states she was overcharged on a few items, we refute this entirely. We have no idea how she has come up with the overcharge for the permit fees, the value is very clearly stated on the signed contract no other charge was invoiced for permit fees? As for the ‘corner seat’ again on the signed contract it clearly shows the ‘knee wall’ construction item is crossed thru and a hand written note to form a corner seat put in lieu of this, however during the construction work the knee wall was constructed thus omitting that item, again the client seems confused here. We had informed [member name removed] by email when she brought these items of overcharge up that she was incorrect and that in the good spirit of the contact we would not be charging her for some minor additions items we completed but instead would leave the final invoice As Is , which was in keeping will our company policy not too ‘Nickel and Dime’ our clients. We would however be more than able to furnish such a bill to her if she feels there are monies due to her. The statement that work was not completed correctly is unfounded, maybe [member name removed] forgets all of our work was inspected by the local building inspector at two different stages and passed on both occasions, if there were any issues with the work we can assure you this inspector would not have ‘signed off’ on the permit, the permit is public record. We would also inform you [member name removed] made a very comprehensive ‘punch list’ and frequently added to it until she was happy with the outcome. If there is such a hole in the tile work we assume it is very minute , as for the ‘trail of ants’ we suggest she direct her ire at her pest control company rather than us. And Finally, the issues of theft, we wholly refute any claim or assertion anyone in our company would be involved in such an action on a client. Whilst we need to refrain from detail, having taken legal consul on the matter, at this point [member name removed] complaint intent that we are complacent in the theft and as a direct result the publication of the complaint will result in real damage to our professional reputation, we will take legal action against any party that aids this complaint being made public. In over thirty years in the industry we have never been accused of theft, if she believes one of our subcontractors on the project is responsible I suggest she call the police, we would be glad too resolve the matter with them. As it stands [member name removed] can not tell us what amount of tile is missing, and how she has arrived at the amount of $150 for missing tile? our tile sub contractor states it was all used on the project only offcuts remained. we had offered immediately she ‘thought’ the tile was missing to come to our storage and inspect its contents, she refused. This complaint is simply untrue, unfair and does in no way reflect the manner in which our company conduct business, it speaks more to the nature of client and her unreasonable nature, would request this complaint be retracted immediately. Paul Scott

So u called one time and now your upset to the point u would give us a bad review. Well let me tell u how it is {removed member name}, I have two small kids, a crew of eight guys all with small kids, or kids of many ages, hard working guys, turn up ever single morning on time, bust their balls for me and produce a great product, depend on our reputation and work ethic to get us thru, and if there are better more honest people on the planet I have yet to meet them. So u just out of vindictiveness just post yer post, yer a class act for sure, u have hurt all the goodness that we project with our customers, real customers that have used us and paid us for our work would absolutely disagree with u, this is where angies list sucks, a nobody can give u a bad review, well I'm not gonna accept that, quite simply people will see u what u are for, loser, cheap shot, glad we never got yer job Mr Angry

1st review: Paul Scott was great to work with. We made most of the plans by phone and then he took it from there, making great suggestions. Everything went well, was finished on time as promised and looks beautiful. He works in beach condos often and knows the best ways to make things work in tight spaces. Highly recommend!! Update: Before paying, be vigilant about checking every single thing, otherwise, it will NOT be corrected. Unfortunately, it was discovered that both sink faucets were incorrectly installed (handles not centered over holes, no plumbing putty used, water supply lines kinked resulting in no water pressure) - after saying the plumber would fix it, I then heard that the plumber said the faucets were "cheap" (they were not), and then the delays began, and then no answers at all. It has not been fixed so I will have a competent plumber fix this problem at my expense. Very sorry to say I will NOT be using Scott Remodeling for an upcoming kitchen remodel.
Description of Work: Remodeled two beach condo bathrooms - replaced sink units and toilets, removed wallpaper, textured the walls and painted. Also did minor repairs in the kitchen.

Paul Scott and his workers were wonderful. From the beginning to end. The first thing is they always showed up on time and if for some reason where not going to make it on time Paul either called or emailed me. I was informed every step of they way. They paid attention to every detail and made suggestions to make things better. Paul helped me find things that worked for my budget and never pushed anything price wise. The house looks great and the bathrooms came out better than expected. Then I started looking around the house for things he could do. He ended up painting the entire house in a week . Also fixed my garage ceiling. I would hire Paul to do anything. He is a real nice and honest person.

Paul Scott of Scott Remodeling, LLC was a superb find in New Smyrna Beach to remodel our 2BR/2Ba condo. We had a limited time to interview contractors, the last week in November, but Paul came right over and gave us a comprehensive estimate the next day. We contacted 4 contractors in total, 1 never showed up, it took the second 3 weeks to give us an initial bid and and the 3rd never sent a bid at all. I grew up in NSB and we are planning on returning as a partial retirement place. We live in New Jersey and the prospect of a long-distance renovation made us really anxious. Paul finalized the estimate, after contacting us to see if we had any questions. We had the option of ordering things ourselves and having them delivered or he would get them for us. Ordering online gave us a larger selection but mis-deliveries and wrong order fulfillment were things that we discovered, but Paul rolled with the punches. He's up on the latest technologies and we got almost daily texts and I-phone pics from him. It was actually better than being on-site the whole time. He said he appreciated that we were so responsive with this questions. If he had any question, we got a text and a pic. My wife and I are both designers and really fussy about things most folks don't even notice, but Paul put up with our many questions. He doesn't hesitate to make suggestions or tell us when he thought our decision wasn't wise, with the reasons. work began the first week of January and he was finished by the second week in February. We had a less than 2% over-run due to the vanities we ordered not having exact specs for the plumbers to rough-in and they arrived later than expected. His tile work is unbelievable, a true artist works for him. Simply said, he does what he says he will do, when he says he will do it and for what he told you it will cost...and with a sense of humor.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of 1,105sq ft, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo on the 3rd floor. Scrape and remove "popcorn ceilings", paint, patch and install crown molding. Remove fiberglass shower and tub and install new metal tub and ceramic tile; glass shower door and build shower stall. New vanities, new toilets, new walls and ceramic tile floor. Remove wall-to-wall carpeting and install bamboo flooring; remove baseboard and install new baseboard. New ceiling fans, new closet doors, sub-contract new kitchen cabinets, granite counters; install new stove, microwave and dishwasher. Paint all new walls and ceilings. New solid-core doors throughout with new hinges and knobs. New ceiling lights. Disposal of all waste material, obtained necessary permits and inspections.

We'll see. Be back in touch in February or March of 2013.
Description of Work: We have just signed a contract for Paul Scott (Scott Remodeling, LLC) to do a total rehab of the 2BR condo we bought this past year in NSB. We contacted about 6 contractors but only 4 responded. Paul essentially fit his review into our very limited time frame, we were only in NSB for Thanksgiving week. He provided a written preliminary estimate the next day and offered to have me meet him to visit 2 condo projects, one completed and one in the works. I grew up in NSB, but live in New Jersey so this will be a remote-controlled remodeling job. We appreciated his punctuality, accuracy and ability to work with us on costs and material which we wanted to provide. We have high hopes that this will be what we want, for the price we've contracted for.

Great! Paul Scott and his helper Dave did a fantastic job. The tile guy they used was not as meticulous and a lot of his work had to be redone.
Description of Work: Our main bathroom was remodeled. Bath tub taken out, shower with two shower heads installed. New tile floor and walls, two sinks, cabinetry and mirrors installed.
