I am 77 years old. Had NEW Air Conditioner installed 2 years ago. Custom Climate did a routine maintenance call about 4 months ago and convinced me to buy an ultraviolet light to kill bacteria inside my air handler. 70 days ago, this company (US Air Conditioning and Heating Refrigeration Corp. / Alfred E. Cox) called to say they were taking over all the service contracts of Custom Climate which had a government action on it, and went bankrupt. Ironically, this business (US Air) has the SAME phone number and caller id name as Custom Climate did, 727-536-7857. The man (Chris) that came out 70 days ago claimed Custom Climate was no good and that they needed to check the system out. Instead, he talked me into getting a SECOND ultraviolet bacteria killer for the air handler for $1479. I later found out those UV devices cost $320 and take just 10 minutes to install. Also, according to the manufacturer's website, those UV devices should be replaced YEARLY. Since then, the unit seemed to be running quite often. 5 days ago, the unit stopped putting out air completely. After it was off for several hours, it started working again for a day, then stopped again, worked for a day, and then stopped again. After a discussion with Jeff Atwater at US Air, it was determined that the motor in the air handler was faulty, and that it was covered under a manufacturer's warranty and that US Air was honoring Custom Climate's service contracts. The following day, a man Ray came out and before even looking at the motor which was determined to be bad already, decided to redo the drainage pile from the air handler even though I asked him not to. The water was dripping freely from the air handler, into a large drip pan, and if that drip pan got too full, there is a pvc pipe to carry the overflow away to an resevoir outside. I explained that I didn't want a pipe connected to the air handler because that pipe could get clogged and create more problems. That pipe has clogged up before and it also deposits slimy and quot;algaeand quot; onto the sidewalk which causes people to slip and fall whenever they go out the back porch. Even though I explained it all, Ray still put a new pvc pipe directly connected to the air handler which would have clogged up eventually. He also put thick insulation all around that drainage pipe for some unknown reason. Then, even though it was determined before he even arrived that it was the air handler motor, he didn't bring one with him. THEN the problems really start. I get a call from Atwater saying that although the warranty and service contract are in place, he would have to charge $365 in labor to install it! His explanations varied from and quot;the cost of gas to go pick it up at the supply houseand quot;, and quot;the time to go pick up the motorand quot;, and quot;the time to install itand quot;, and and quot;the cost of overnight shippingand quot; (uh.. if you are picking it up, why is there overnight shipping?) This company supposedly has dozens of employees, 20 trucks, and the supply house is in Tampa which is closer to here than their headquarters in New Port Richey! I am sure that they have shipments to this supply house daily, and frankly they should have the motor in stock. I call up another air conditioner service, give them the model number, and their price is $380 including parts and labor with the trade-in of the old motor. Atwater specifically said that the motor was covered by warranty and would be free, but was going to charge me $365 for labor even though there is also a service contract. Not comes the clincher. I ask the other air conditioner service how much the motor cost not including their labor and trade-in.. and they told me it is $357.12. To recap concisely, US Air is charging for the motor and installation even though the motor is covered by manufacturer's warranty and they are supposed to be honoring Custom Climate's service contracts. After I told Atwater that I was going to check with other A/C companies, he got belligerent. He called back 3 times with his number blocked on the caller ID. He called me nuts and out of my mind, and worse. When I told him I would be posting this incident on Angie's List and BBB.org, he threatened to and quot;sue my a**and quot; several times, then he challenged me to come to his office and meet him in person! I repeatedly offered to send him my complaint or fax it to him before posting it on BBB.org and Angie's list, but he said he was and quot;not interestedand quot; and hung up on me, then called back minutes later with more threats.
Description of Work: Basically, this company was to perform routine maintenance on a 2 year old A/C system, and everytime they show up, they use high pressure, unscrupulous tactics to sell additional unneeded modifications to the system while at the same time making a system that worked great seize up, and then chose to bill outrageous labor charges. The worker did not fix anything, in fact, he screwed up the drainage of the air handler for the second time. 70 days ago, another of their employees put in a too thin pvc pipe with a U in it attached directly to the air handler. This pipe clogged up as thin pipes do.. and caused damage to the system. That pipe was removed so that the air handler drained directly into the drip pan (which has its OWN drain pipe). That way, it is impossible for the air handler to become blocked up.. since there IS no drain pipe. Despite several requests to leave the drains the way they were, the worker went and stuck another pvc pipe into the air handler and GLUED it in the socket, so the next time it clogs up, there is really no way to unclog it. That drain pipe, which I did not want and did not need, is over 30 feet long and has a U in it. And that isn't even where the real dispute begins..

The repairman showed up and said that he had to return the next day because the unit had to thaw. Once he came back, he checked the unit and found no leaks, pumped in three gallons of freon (at 90.oo per gallon), and suggested that we replace the entire unit because he and quot;could not guarantee how long it would last. It could freeze up again tomorrow.and quot;' We had this experience with this company before, with the service person suggesting expensive additions or replacements. The last time we had their and quot;free inspection,and quot; we had a one thousand dollar av lamp installed that we found could have been done for less than three hundred.

They are scam artists. This is evident from all the negative reviews I found on the internet as well as the service I received today.
Description of Work: 2 guys came out to fix our A/C but they tried to sell me on everything. They tried to sell sell me a UV light that would deter and kill small rodents. They started dropping their prices on everything, so I could tell they were trying to scam.

I have been a customer of US Air Conditioning and Heating for 5 years now. I have referred them to family and friends who have used them. I consider them a 5 star company and will continue to use them, they are a very reliable company and their techs are very polite and courteous.
Description of Work: They oiled the motors, put in pan tablets so my drain lines don't clog and overflow into my home. They check my freon levels and topped it off. They checked and tighten all my electrical switches, checked my ducts and gave me a custom cut filter.

Well want to start off by saying this review is for my mothers house. She does not have a computer nor could use one if she did. I have had us air conditioning out many times for annual service and have always been very happy with there services. Well my mother called me to ask if i knew of a good ac company . A plumber had been out to check water leak from ceiling and informed her it was the ac unit and she needed to call a ac company for repair. So she called me. Well I have to admit even though i have had good experiences with US Air this was my elderly mother and naturally I wanted to be a part of it to make sure all went well. So I told her I would call my company for her. Well US Air as always from the first call all the way through the entire process was excellent. The first young lady on the phone could tell I was worried about my mother so she offered to have tech call me and let me know what was going on once they had figured out what was going on with ac unit. This made me feel a lot better right away. Within hours they were over to the house, figured out what was going on and then called me to explain. The unit was 20+ years old and the drain pan inside the unit had rusted threw and was leaking onto ceiling. The tech suggested replacement of system do to age and condition of ac. I agreed with him also because her power bills were getting up there the last couple of years. He informed me about tax qualifying units that I had no idea about! I was impressed with his knowledge. He was very nice and informative. I asked him to get me a price and I talked it over with my mother. We both agreed that it needed to be done and the price seemed reasonable so we went forward with it. We ended up going with a Rheem 15 seer system that qualified for federal tax credit. They installed system next day on a saturday so she would not be without ac over weekend! I went over to her house while they installed unit to make sure all went well for my mother! The install crew was very professional and you could tell they really new what they were doing. Also even though you could tell they were miserable in the heat they were very nice and respectful all the way threw the job. I just talked to my mother recently about the ac and she said it feels better in the house than ever! She also told me that the inspector for the county had recently been by to check out the installation and had told her that they did a great job and did not cut any corners. Well after hearing that I knew I had to write a review for them because I could not of asked for this to have gone any better. Thank you US Air Conditioning for all you have done for my mother and I at both of are houses! You can always count on a referral from me.

It was just ok. I didn't feel as comfortable working with them. The workers were sent out and I wasn't overly impressed. There was a lack in communicating regarding the appointment time and I just decided to search for another heating and a/c company. Their service was just satisfactory. They did follow up and try to keep me as a customer (which was appreciated), but I think I'll search for another company.

Description of Work: This company came out and helped me with my AC unit, it was not working well. We had a very good experience with them and will definetly use them again in the future!!!!
Description of Work: We looked in the yellow pages,saw that they were number one in the tampa bay area for rheem..we have a rheem system and they sounded very promising. So we called them on a service call told them that our system was not cooling right and they were at our home with in an hour . The tec that came to our home was very professional and inspected our system completley.He gave us a complete report of what was wrong with the system and how much it would cost us before he did any work. We felt that he gave us a good estimate on the work so we let him do the job. Our system has been running great ever since . We will use them again in the future and would recommend them to anybody .

Rep. (Gary) came out and found problem, (two wires touching). Fixed problem, checked coolant and filters on both units. Also checked attic units for problems Finished in less than an hour and told me what he did to fix problem. Totally professional and friendly.
Description of Work: Belong to American Home Shield Insurance, which is who contacted when one of our units stopped cooling. Within 24 hrs. U.S. Air called & set appointment. Followed up with a call the morning of service told me they were on the way. Problem: A/C throwing heat. 84degrees in 1/2 of home.

An estimate was given to my elderly parents who tried to decline but were pressured to consent, additionally, they were told that the cost would go up if anyone else did this work. They came up with a payment plan my parents could afford. However, the person negotiating the contract promised them no interest if they paid $100/month. They signed the contract and then discovered that they would be required to pay it off within 1 year. The contractor promised that he personally would renew their contract every year until the full amount was paid. When they tried to call the office and check if this was valid, they were never allowed to speak with anyone except the person negotiating the contract. The work was done, but when the bill was received it was learned that the amount was financed through a finance company who again reiterated the interest would be retroactive is not paid within one year. This all may have been legal, but apparently these people have no problem misleading people.

They came after hours and they came right away and right on time. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. They were clean-cut, nice guys with marked trucks. This company did not initially fix a problem with our Air Conditioning system. The same problem occurred 3 weeks later, we were told no one could come until the next day after our call. We were established customers. Another Company came that day and corrected the problem as it should have been done in the first place. Very poor customer service, and obviously not well trained technicians.

This is a good company. They were punctual, and they checked my handler and my compressor for any problems. They found one problem with my handler. Specifically, the special air filter connected to my handler was very dirty. I had a lot of building done inside my home this past year and was impressed that they noticed it. I had it replaced even though it was a 3 year filter and still had a year to go - I'm breathing a lot better now.

Description of Work: I HAD NEW AIR HANDLER INSTALLED 5/03 BY US AIR. THEY BECAME MY A/C CO. AFTER BUYING OUT REGIS AIR WHO WAS MY A/C CO. WHEN AIR HANDLER WAS INSTALLED I SIGNED MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT FOR 2 FREE SERVICE CALLS. US AIR CAME TO MY HOME ON 6/25/04 FOR SUMMER TUNE-UP. 2 MEN ENTERED MY HOME. ONE SAID HE WAS A SUPERVISOR TRAINING A NEW EMPLOYEE. SUPERVISOR WENT INTO GARAGE & INTO ATTIC. I TOLD THE NEW MAN WHERE THE WALL FILTER WAS ASSUMING THEY WOULD CLEAN IT AS PART OF MAINTENANCE. HE SAID THEY DONT NORMALLY DO THAT BUT HE WOULD AS A COURTESY. HE TOOK FILTER INTO GARAGE & SPRAYED IT W/ WATER FROM MY HOSE. THEY BOTH CAME BACK IN HOUSE & SAT DOWN. SUPERVISOR SAID I HAD A LOT OF MOLD ON AIR HANDLER & I NEEDED UV PROTECTOR FOR $1500. I TOLD HIM IT WAS ONLY 1 YR. OLD & HOW COULD IT HAVE SO MUCH MOLD? HE SAID THE GUY THAT PUT IT IN SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME SO. I TOLD THEM I COULD NOT AFFORD IT AS I JUST HAD NEW ROOF PUT ON & I HAD TO BORROW MONEY FROM MY BOTHER FOR THAT. THEY ASKED IF I COULD BORROW MORE.

Member contacted us just after receiving her maintenance service on 6/25/04. She stated she received a better price from another company on an Ultra Violet Air Purification System & that other co. made numerous derogatory remarks regarding US Air. She also stated our tech did not reinstall her air filter. We informed her we would send a man over immediately. Tech said member told him specifically to leave air filter outside & allow it to dry so it would prevent water dripping onto her flooring. He obliged & then answered all of her questions about the system. Member was kind enough to give tech permission to use her restroom. Comments about not eating candy bars & not smoking cigarettes are comical at best. Being she has such a pragmatic & outspoken personality why did she give tech an excellent rating on customer survey? It is truly sad that a competitor continues to mislead & use innocent citizens by coaxing them to write complaint letters in order to settle differences w/ our co.
