When the Genie garage door malfunctioned on 03/1913 I was informed by an overhead garage door repair company that also happened to be an Authorized Genie Dealer that my Genie garage door opener model was covered by a lifetime warranty. I immediately called Genie's Corporate Headquarters & Genie of New Port Richey. The rep at Genie's Corporate Headquarters asked for an assortment of information then emailed claim forms. In spite of having a written warranty and being within the stated warranty period, the Genie Pro owner, Laura Salazar, told me that there was nothing she could do about my nonfunctioning Genie opener. Upon receiving a replacement Genie garage door opener from Genie Corporate I made arrangements for Genie of New Port Richie to remove the nonfunctioning unit and install the replacement unit. I returned the two parts that Genie of New Port Richey installed to Laura Salazar on 4/18/13 and asked Laura to refund $250 of the $337.33 I had paid her for the repairs that her company had completed during October of 2012. Laura gave me a group of nonsensical reasons why she couldn't refund my money. I left the parts with her & obtained a receipt for them. I called Laura on 05/01/13 to follow up & when she once again started telling me the rediculous reasons what she couldn't return my money I informed her that she had been in possession of the parts for nearly two weeks and that I expected her to bring me $250 in cash by 1:00 on 05/03/13. Laura did not bring me my refund. UPDATE: STILL NO REFUND AS OF MAY, 20, 2013 :-((( THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT WHY THE BETTER BUSINESS BEAURU RATES THIS COMPANY AT A D- !
Description of Work: I called Genie of New Port Richey when my Genie garage door opener malfunctioned on 10/15/12. A service appointment was set for 10/17/12 between 2:00 - 4:00. Laura Salazar, the owner & her son, Travis arrived shortly after 4:00. Both were polite. Travis actually diagnosed the problem, which actually ending up being tow problems), and installed a new part that was available from their truck. They returned to complete the job several days later upon receiving the second part. The paperwork I was given didn't reflect the correct amount charged to my credit card and took several phone calls & several weeks to straighten out. NOTE: The written invoice stated there was a 90 day warranty on LABOR & 1 year warranty on PARTS.

As stated on your review page, the member had a 1 year warranty on parts. So when his boards went out again why didn't he utilize his warranty? The fact is his opener was hit by a power surge or lightening blowing both boards out, which is not covered under the warranty. Genie does not cover acts of nature, only manufacturing defeats. He cannot expect to return blown out boards that he used for 6 months and receive his money back. I spoke with Genie Corporate and the home office concurred with what I said. Our receipt even says special order parts are ordered with half down that's non-refundable, which we did have to order his board. We feel bad that his boards were hit, but all openers are suspectable to being hit because currents of electricity follows the path of least resistance, which would be garage door openers. During rain and/or lightning storm the best thing to do is unplug the opener.

THE ONLY TECH THEY HAD THAT WAS WORTH ANYTHING HAS RECENTLY LEFT THE COMPANY. OVER THE LAST 10 YRS, I HAVE HAD 2 OTHER GARAGE DOOR OPENERS REPLACED BY GENIE NPR WITH EXCELLENT SERVICE. NOT SO ANYMORE.
Description of Work: HAD NEW DOOR OPENER INSTALLED 14 JAN 04. TECH WOULDN'T REMOVE OLD OPENER. DOOR MALFUNCTIONED 3 TIMES SINCE THEN. TOOK 6 CALLS TO GET OUT THE FIRST TIME, 10 THE SECOND AND WAS UNABLE TO GET REPAIR THE 3RD. PROBLEM WAS FINALLY RESOLVED BY GENIE OF CLEARWATER.
