Description of Work: I bought a new front door and had Paul Romero prep it, stain it and polyurethene it. The door came out very nice. However, in January, 2011 the finish started rubbing off. I called Paul and he came right out and seemed puzzled that this was happening. He made at least two more trips into the beginning of March still telling me that he didn't understand why the finish was coming off. During this time frame, He never attempted to fix the problem, he in fact made it worse by rubbing more and more of the finish off the door. He did tell me that he was going to get in touch with the manufacurer and find out why the finish was not holding. After waiting two weeks to hear from him I called and he told me that he called the manufacturer but they never got back to him and that he may have "dropped the ball because he never tried to get back to them. So now I have a $2,000.00 front door that has two different shades of stain on it. I called Paul on two more occassions with no luck. I talked with him briefly on March28th and he told me he would call me back but didn't. I called again on March 29th and left a message. When I bought the door, I had a man by the name of Ty Holtzclaw install it and he recommended Paul, who I believe is his brother in law. Paul did get back with me on the 29th to inform me that he wasn't trying to ignore me but he was having personal problems and did not have enough time to take care of some of these type of issues. I asked what I could do to help and I contacted the door manufacturer (Masonite) who told me that there is no way the door could be causing the problem. I called P aul and told him what Masonie said and gave him their number and they told him the exact same thing. Paul then told me that he did not know what to do next. I paid Paul $250.00 to stain and polyurethene my door. Nine months later the stain and polyurethene is coming off the door. Paul does not want to take responsibility for his work. I will probably take him to small claims court which is going to be a pain. Hopefully people will read this and not have to go through what I went through.
