They were absolutely incredible with their customer service. They were very helpful and I was very happy with them helping me to get what I needed.
Description of Work: I was trying to find a new belt for my dryer and I was referred to this company by Home Depot.

Very unprofessional and rude technician. Told my wife she didn't know what she was talking about and actually told her to shut up. She was trying to explain the symptoms and intermittent operation of the stove. Absolutely no reason to treat a customer in this manner.

WELL......I MUST BEGIN WITH THE PURCHASE. Because a repairman advised junking my broken washer, rather than repair it, at his suggestion, I went to BAY AREA APPLIANCES! When we got there it was apparent that their prices were far better than any we'd seen elsewhere ( the usual haunts like Home depot, Lowe's, etc.) . When we chose one, I asked "John" (the owner) what his price was & when he told me, I asked if he'd take my still working dryer on a trade-in basis. He said he couldn't do that with the ones we chose but he could on another set (which turned out to be better than what we'd chosen) & so we made the deal for $426.99 which included tax, delivery & installation. These items had small scratch and/or dent, which didn't bother us.When they came to install it, they took out the old and installed the new! Now here's where the story gets a bit dicey........After I got home, I looked them up on Angie's List and what I found made me very nervous. There were a number of NEGATIVE comments about people who dealt with them & were far less than pleased..some, to say the least! I began to get nervous & when my wife asked me what the matter was, I told her. She said.."well, do you remember when that repairman told us to go there, he said to ask for (XXX) who is the brother of the owner?" I replied, yes, so? And she told me that while I was off checking some things out at the other side of the store, she CHATTED WITH JOHN, asking for (his brother). John said he hated to say it, because his brother is FAMILY, but the brother had scammed a number of people by sending out stuff they didn't order or stuff he knew was broken and that kind of thing. John didn't understand why he'd done that because the brother had made a ton of $$ in the business & didn't need to operate that way. When the family discovered it, they wanted him to make it right with the customers but he wouldn't. So they made him leave the business (the brother subsquently opened his own shop & ran that into the ground!) Also, the family is no longer talking to the brother! So, John, embarrassed as he was,had told us the truth. When we got home, we prayed that John would do the right thing by us. That was on 3/29/14. NOW TO THE DELIVERY & INSTALLATION. ALL WENT FAIRLY WELL. The guys who delivered it were very nice & did a good job. The only exception to what I'd have said was "outstanding" was that when they hooked the old drainage hose into the new one, they were not able to properly secure it.....(IT SURELY WOULD HAVE LEAKED). IF IT WERE NOT FOR MY HAVING HAD A "SCREW-DOWN CLAMP" DESIGNED FOR SUCH CONNECTIONS, THEY'D NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT SAFELY TOGETHER. So, my thought is that they could have (and should have, in my opinion) been far better prepared for such an eventuality which I'd have thought would have been not at all unusual! Then, because of what I'd read from others, I asked them to run it through its cycles. They did & all went well. Because some folks said their appliance broke a few days after installation, we waited a week to insure we are still pleased with our transaction there. We've used the washer 10 times now & all is not only well, but we are VERY PLEASED with what we bought & felt his price (even with the trade-in) was quite good. We would go back when we next need another applkiance, as we feel John & his staff are quite reputable! ALTHOUGH I REALIZED AFTER I BOUGHT IT THAT I COULD HAVE GOTTEN 10% off by mentioning Angie's List ( I'd forgotten to do that) I wouldn't now go back to ask for it as I feel I got a fair deal. ALL IN ALL, I'D SAY THEY ARE A GREAT PLACE TO DEAL WITH. BY THE WAY, ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS COVERED THE TIME BETWEEN 2011 & NOVEMBER 2013. THE POSITIVE ONES WERE ALL AFTER THAT DATE!! THANKS, ANGIE! Paul Maguire, Tarpon Springs, FL....4/5/14
