If you want someone honest and that listens to you, this is not the company to select.
Description of Work: Incredibly rude and evasive. I called to get a quote on a three rail vinyl fence. I asked for a quote per foot and he replied what kind of fence, so I had to again say three rail vinyl. He replied that he could not give a quote on that, "honey", because he needs to come out to the farm, first. Evasive and condescending. Any professional company would be able to reply, $4 per foot, or whatever the rate is. He obviously wants to size up the property to see how much he thinks he can squeeze out of this "Honey". I have 30 acres of cross fenced land. His loss.

It is our custom to come to the job site to deliver a free and honest estimate based on the footage of the project, contour of the land and if any removal is needed of old fencing. We guarantee we are not out to squeeze anything out of our customers.

They were able to quickly provide a quote that was very competitive and offer an install dates months earlier than other companies. The process went very smoothly/quickly and I am pleased with the final product as well as customer service I received.

Description of Work: My wife and I Contacted Steve many months ago for a back yard fence quote he made measurements at that time, last week he Re-confirmed the quote then re-measured job again, we then contracted him to install the fence, When I gave him my credit card for the deposit, He made me pay him a $40 penalty to use my credit card, I didn't have a check on hand that day. |He asked me to get him a survey of the boundary's Which we did (cost $250) During the quote Steve assured me he would place a string on the boundary's so I could trim the bushes and trees back before he started the job so that he could keep the fence about 4" inside my property. Seems he forgot this part, His sub contractor called me on Saturday morning while I was out of town and told me he had already cemented all the poles and rails in place and never put up the string So I could trim the trees back to the border line. I rushed home early Sunday morning to find |they had the poles cemented in over 3 feet inside the yard, very far from the border, I tried to call Steve but he wouldn't return my call, I then complained to the sub contractor and he stepped up and pulled out all the poles and cement and re-mounted and re-cemented them back in closer to the border. for this I am grateful, Had I left it there, I would have lost a big chunk of my back yard! I wish I had hired the sub instead of this guy |finally the fence is in the correct area, Here is my problem, Steve |neglected to make a proper gate for the driveway side, there is a slope under the gate area, This looks really bad as the gate doors are uneven by at almost a foot, one gate door is much higher than the other I wrote Steve an email that I am not happy with this, he did not respond, Second |When the job was done, Steve called me to ask for additional |money because he measured incorrectly, There was a few more feet needed |I told him this is absurd he then said I was right and told me not to worry about it. |I am not happy with this gate and I am not happy with the quality of the materials they used, They are flimsy, I can easily bend the chain links with my bare hands, The poles are and rails not sturdy either. I guess this is my bad for not doing my home work, To me this job is only a C- |I will NOT hire AMERICAN LANDMARK FENCE CO ever again | | | |

Started out great on Saturday removing the old and starting on the new. The foreman said that by not having a gate at the back we could save $250 so we agreed and paid him out of pocket to move the old chain link gate to the other side of the lot where we still have a section of chain link fence. Then it started to rain and they left with a promise to be back at 8:00 on Sunday. Sunday never happened. They finally called at 3:00 and said they were having truck problems and would be back on Monday. When they came back they finished the job in a timely professional manner. Then it came time to pay and the $250 missing gate suddenly turned into additional materials required to complete the job. I gave them an A rating the first time we used them so I went back to them when I needed additional work but I am not as impressed this time and if we ever need to replace the last section I will look to someone else to do the work. The next day we discovered that when they left yesterday they ran over our wheelbarrow destroying it. We called them and left a message and asking them to replace it. It has been 3 days since we called and they have not returned our call or brought us a new wheelbarrow.

I received prices from 2 fence companies. American Landmark was $1,600 lower than the competitor. In retrospect I should have questioned such a disparity in price. Since then I have had the opportunity to look at several other vinyl fence installations and found a significant disparity in the gauge or the thickness of the vinyl of my fence compared to others. The others were much thicker. I should have taken my cue when Steve told me that a weedeater could puncture my fence. I am at fault for not exercising enough due diligence to inquire about differences in vinyl thickness. If I had been informed by American Landmark of these differences in thickness I could have made a more informed decision. I was not so informed by American Landmark(or to be honest neither did the other contractor). Do your homework!

This experience stated when they required a 50% DEPOSIT, which is unheard of in this industry. It was later explained to me that because they "didn't know me" they had to require that, but at the time the excuse i was given was that they needed it to "purchase materials." I provided the funds without question, but that should have been my first warning sign. After waiting several weeks with no contact, I inquired as to the status of my installation. I was told they would "fit me in" by the Owner, Steve. Several more weeks went by, and then I was contacted by the installer, who advised they would be here a specific day. However, for whatever reason, they could not meet that commitment. Next thing I knew, I happened to come home early one day from work and found them here. They had not notified me that they were coming. At that point, it was determined that the Owner (Steve) had failed to adhere to my very specific request, which was to make the fence "identical to the neighbors" which he had also installed. Instead, Steve took it upon himself to short the distance of the fence, intending to have it stop less than 1/3 from the back of the house. I explained that this was unacceptable, at which point they called Steve. While he indicated they could accommodate the change, I was advised it would cost an additional $735, even though this was clearly his mistake as I was very clear from the onset what I wanted. However, I chose to not make a big deal of it - and then they returned the next day to finish. Upon returning that evening, I saw several issues - to include a block under one gate, another gate that was crooked and not centered, and a few other minor issues. I contacted Landmark via email to ask about these issues, as well as to determine if permits were obtained (since I distinctly recall speaking with Steve at the onset and him telling me that they would obtain all necessary permits). I received a response that permits were now miraculously "not required" and that they would come out to fix the crooked gate. I was asked to leave a check, as once again Landmark seemed more concerned about the money part of business then actually providing good customer service. I then received a call from Steve asking me for the money. He actually had the nerve to say that he "needed to go on vacation" and "wanted to pay for his materials." When I reminded him that he had originally told me that the 50% deposit was to "pay for materials" I didn't understand why he needed the money so urgently. Again, he was more concerned about his vacation to the Florida Keys than ensuring his customers were satisfied. While I tried to explain that work commitments were hindering my ability to accommodate his schedule, Steve was so insistent that I finally told him to come pick up the check merely to get him off my back and shut him up. He showed up (albeit 40 minutes late) to get the check that afternoon, which was promptly cashed. That weekend, I noticed that the fence was blocking one water sprinkler (it was DIRECTLY over one, causing it to fail) and in another more egregious aspect, the fence was so far into my property line that another sprinkler was literally 4-6 inches outside of the fence. I sent Landmark an email explaining the issues, to which I initially received no response. I then endeavored to identify a solution on my own, as the risk to permanent damage was too great. I also attempted to contact Steve telephonically, but for at least 3 days received no response. Ultimately, that was because he was on yet another vacation. While he did return my call while still on vacation, he basically bought himself an additional 10 days because he knew he would be "so busy" when he returned. Two weeks after my follow up email, I met with Steve. He immediately told me to find my survey, which he had NEVER asked for previously (it seems a good contractor would have gotten that BEFORE they scheduled the work). After that, I required him to measure the distance between the house and the fence exterior perimeter. While the front was within guidelines, the back part was 9 INCHES inside of my property line. Steve then attempted to give me an education on his "28 years of experience" and how to build a fence, not knowing I have installed fences in prior residences and am familiar with the process. Ultimately I had to ask him to stop his diatribe and tell me what he planned on doing to rectify the situation. He then attempted to tell me that it was "standard practice" to go "inside the property line 4-5 inches." However, as I noted to him, he was 9 inches inside, which meant the fence was still well beyond acceptable limits according to his information. Steve then abruptly stated that he "would not move the fence for 3 inches" (note the math indicates it is actually 4--5 inches, but apparently he didn't catch that mistake in his calculations.) He then continued to refer to his "contract", never actually acknowledging that I had NEVER SIGNED HIS CONTRACT when I mailed him the ridiculous 50% deposit. I then inquired if he stood by his refusal to rectify the situation to which he said "yes" and stormed off toward his car. I told him I would have no choice but to pursue other legal remedies, and his response was that he "has been sued many times and never lost." Overall, I found my interactions Landmark Fence, and specifically Steve, to be unprofessional, egotistical and completely lacking in the ability to listen to what customers are saying. I subsequently read reviews of Landmark on other sites which indicated that potential customers found Steve to be someone who did "not listen" to what they told him that wanted, and instead went with his own ideas. Those reviews are spot on. This man thinks that he knows everything and in actuality he knows NOTHING about customer service, providing a quality product, or ensuring that customers are actually satisfied with their purchase. While I believe that he has benefited from "word of mouth" I think it is important that potential customers know just how bad they can expect their experience with Landmark and specifically Steve, is going to be. I would not utilize him nor recommend him to anyone, as he appears to take customers for granted and does not stand behind the quality and accuracy of his workmanship in any way.
Description of Work: Provider was supposed to install a white vinyl fence in my home. He assured me he had done "hundreds" of homes in the area, and that he would ensure not only all permitting issues were adhered to, but that he would obtain proper notice of utilities, to include the sprinkler system, water and electric lines, etc. While the fence has been installed it was done incorrectly.

Response from American Landmark Fence Co
This customer signed an acknowledged receipt of goods and job completion form that states: "That the undersigned hereby acknowledges receipt and delivery of the goods described on the annexed contract or invoice and further acknowledges that said goods and any performed installation have been inspected and approve to my satisfaction." This was dated and signed by customer leaving this review. Our contracts clearly state that American Landmark will not be liable for any damage to sprinkler lines and the Customer is responsible for establishing property lines. In fact it states this on both the front and back of the contract. It goes on to state that No changes in measurements, locations of lines or conditions will be allowed, except at prices mutually agreed upon. Purchaser must obtain licenses, planning permission approvals and permits where such licenses, approvals and permits are required. If this customer would have read her contract, she would be aware that her complaints are invalid. It is standard in the industry to collect a deposit to cover the materials; all fences are not built the same and therefore require special installation. If the customers fail to pay the balance due upon completion, at least the contractor has been able to cover the wholesalers. We are not sure why this customer feels their need to call decent people rude and fabricate her experience. As always we stand committed to excellence in the fence industry and encourage all customers to completely read all proposals and contracts.

Poor job by American Landmark Fence. Substandard materials. Poorly trained crew lacked basic skills. Job coordinator Steve would not come to site to view and address multiple issues. When homeowner raised issues, homeowner told, "so now you're trying to tell me how to do my job." Job took twice as long as estimated. Power tools left at site.

Overall everything went great, Steve handled the permit had all the lines marked out and. More Importantly he showed exactly whenever he was supposed to. The one time he was going to be a couple minutes late he called to inform me. Install went great American Landmarks installers worked hard and made sure everything was exactly how I wanted before proceeding. They were surprisingly fast installing and the quality is exactly what I'd hope for with a expensive type of fence. American Landmark fence was one of the 4 fencing companies I called. After being given the run around by 2 and the last leaving a bit of a crazy voicemail I decided on American Landmark without any disappointments.

A small portion of my fence from the gate to the house had broken and fallen over so I checked the reviews on Angie's List. I chose this company because they were in my area and had several positive reviews. When I called and explained what I needed, the owner Steve explained that they were extremely busy and it would be several weeks before he could come out to make the repair. Since I have a dog, I need my fence fixed quickly but I appreciate his honesty and professionalism. If I need fence repairs or replacements in the future I will definitely give them a call.

I met with Steve the owner of ALF and we spoke about all my concerns regarding the install of my fence. I live in a gated community with many rules that had to be followed. I was concerned about the grass cutting company that cuts my lawn. They used very large mowers and must be able to fit inside my gates. Steve (ALF) installed an extra large gate to accommodate the landscaping companies mowers. He did this at no extra charge to me. He also install 2 solar lights on both corners of the fence. His crew were extremely nice men. They cleaned up after the job was done. I needed to have my property back filled to cover the low spots and that would have been an added expense to me. Instead the crew hand filled in all the low areas around the fence.
Description of Work: American Landmark Fence Co. (ALF) installed 6' white fencing around my property. I had been getting estimates from many fencing company for about a month. Everytime I saw a new fence in my area I would stop to see what company installed the job. If the homeowners were about I would ask if he was pleased.

I only wanted a portion of my yard fenced and I had specific criteria for it. Most fence companies I contacted provided an estimate from the details I gave them over the phone. American Landmark was the only one that asked to come out and view the area, explain the process, and show me samples of the styles of fence available. They were also the only company that followed up to see if I had additional questions. They made me feel like they valued my business. They did a great Job, and I have had several compliments from neighbors on how nice it looks.

Suberb job done by this company. Compitive bid & pricing. Installer Robert did a wonderful job. He treated my home with the utmost respect. His workmanship was very professional. There were many problems that were unforeseen by all the company's that submitted bids. American Landmark Fence dealt with the problems and corrected them in accoandance with my HOA. I am very grateful to Steve Sullivan the owner of the American Landmark fence company. He saved me hundreds of dollars by dealing with HOA's landscaping company on my behalf. I am so very glad I choose to go with this company. I will definitely recommend them to my friends & family. This is a company that remembers that service & making the customer happy is the number one rule in good business. I am a very Happy Customer. Thank you, Joanne Kittner
