I've have used several pool service providers in the past three years who have not only disappointed me but made having a pool a nightmare. Thankfully I have finally found a company that communicates with me and I can trust. I have been looking for a company small enough to actually care and large enough to provide the various types of services needed to maintain my pool. The Owners of Sweetwater and their staff have gone out of their way to treat me like a special customer. They have been very fast to respond to issues and the charges I feel have been very fair. I hired them about 6 months ago and they have been great and are not trying to fix things that are not broken as others have done. I have never received near the level of personal attention with other companies regardless of their size. I depend on my pool for therapy and they have been willing to make that a priority in servicing me. Other companies have left me hanging without use of my pool for many days but Sweetwater has bent over backwards to see this does not happen. I have had pools for probably 20 years and have never been as happy with the pool and the service provider as I am now. Give them a try you will not be dissapointed.

Monday's appointment was rescheduled by them to Tuesday, then Tuesday to Wednesday. Then they deferred coming out until Friday. But they then called and said "we're so busy in Season with contracted commercial customers that we don't know if we can even come out next week". If they are that busy and that undependable, and if they break promised appointments repeatedly, I cannot recommend them.

I've had several pool service providers in the past five years who have not only disappointed, but made having a pool an overly costly and stressful thing. Thankfully I have finally found a company I can trust. I have been looking for a company small enough to give individualized service and large enough to provide the various types of services needed to maintain a pool. Sweetwater has gone out of its way to treat me like a special customer, been very fast to respond to issues, communication and follow through has been great and as one type of problem is often related to another type, I like the fact that I am almost always dealing with the same contractor who knows me and whom I know. They have charged a fair price since I hired them several months ago and have not tried to fix problems I don't have as others have done. I got no where near the level of individual attention with other companies the same size and really small companies had me running around to various contractors for various issues. I depend upon my spa for back pain control and they have been willing to make that a priority in servicing me. Other companies have left me without use of the spa for many days but Sweetwater has bent over backwards to see this does not happen. No one else in the area has come close and I have a lot of experience now to be able to say this.
Description of Work: Various issues from weekly maintenance, to pool computer control to heater to valves to cleaning to filters to heating, etc. I've paid about $1300 over four months

The owners are great people who truly care about their customers. This feeling starts at the top , after meeting Jim and Tina, i can see why their team keeps the customer first . We had issues with the pump (noise due to it being out of balance) and called them. In December, the pump started making alot of noise. We called and were told they do not maintain their equipment and to call someone else. My husband tried to fix it and got the noise to stop. Then last week, it started leaking. All these issues were due to very poor installation. Again we called and were told they do not maintain their equipment and if we wanted to have it serviced we would be charged for it, even though all the problems were caused by their pool installation. I consider this VERY bad business. Basically, they install it poorly so they can charge you again to come back and fix it. Very unhappy with them and will certainly not use them again. They have very bad business practices.
Description of Work: We hired this company based on the reviews. They installed a new pool pump for us in October, 2016.

Response from Sweetwater Pool Service
The above negative review from this repair only Customer is not factual. The truth about what happened is this Customer purchased a pool pump from us in October of last year. They called in January of this year stating the motor was loud. We told them that the motor has a one year warranty and that we would send out the warranty company to take a look at it so then there would be NO cost to the Customer. The Customer did not want to work through the warranty company for a reason we don't know so that is when we instructed them if we were to come out there would be a charge and that they should just let the warranty company fix at no cost. Well instead the Husband decided he was going to fix it (as stated by there email ) and then by him doing so caused a separation of the PVC causing the leak. They once again called us to tell us that they worked on the pump by themselves and now there was a leak. We once again informed them that if they would have just called the warranty company that all would have been fixed at no cost. But instead they were now looking for us to fix the leak that they state ( per email ) started after the Husband worked on it himself. We did instruct them that there would be a charge to fix the leak they caused. We stand up to the products we install and our office staff will go out of the way to fix things but the Manufacture wants there people fixing issues with there equipment and we follow those rules. We install probably 250 pumps per year and I can say for sure this is the only one that didn't go as it should have. Please take the time to read the other reviews that will give you a better picture of my company. We are top rated on Angies list, the BBB, and Google and we won Best Pool Service in Naples the last 2 years running and this is voted on by our Customers. It is a shame that this Customer is unhappy but we did all we could do to try to help them.

.I want to revise my June 10, 2016, review of Sweetwater Pool in Naples, FL due to subsequent developments. That review was prompted by an email I received from them on June 1 billing me $150.73 for repair of a problem with my new pool/spa that I was totally unaware of and had not authorized. That repair should have been performed by the builder under warranty at no charge. I sent emails to Sweetwater Pool complaining about this on 3 consecutive days -- June 1, 2, 3 -- but got no response.I went to Sweetwater Pool on June 21 to discuss another pool/spa issue. At that time, I asked why they had not responded to my emails. It turns out that Sweetwater Pool's email system had been crashing intermittently on both the sending and receiving ends during the period in question. Apparently, they had emailed me on May 26 to inform me of the pool/spa problem, but I never received that email. Likewise, they did not receive any of the 3 emails I sent them, even though those were listed as having been "sent" when I checked my computer. Because their communication on June 1 had been by email and I was still getting other (unrelated) emails from them, I had no reason to suspect there was a problem with their email system. However, once this all became clear, Sweetwater Pool promptly refunded the above-noted bill in full.I have never experienced a similar type of problem in the past, but this shows that it can happen. The take-home lesson is that if you want to make sure someone gets an important message, it is best to do it by phone or in person. That way, you know you have actually been in contact.I upgrade Sweetwater Pool to a "B". Once everything was explained, they promptly refunded the above-noted bill in full. Sweetwater Pool's email system malfunction, which I was unaware of, resulted in them not answering my emails. However, had they initially called to tell me about my pool/spa problem and realized that we are probably still covered under warranty, the builder would have taken care of the problem and my reviews would have been unnecessary.

I really appreciate that Denise in the office takes time to chat with me & explain how their service works. Whenever I call, she makes me feel that my business is wanted and she's friendly & helpful. She spends time with me on the phone, as though I was their only customer. From my first contact with her, I really felt gathered into the Sweetwater Pool family. That's the reason I left my former pool maintenance company - they did not communicate with me, even when I had a problem and asked them to call me. They flat out didn't. Clearly, my business didn't matter to them. But Denise, from the first time I called, made me feel welcomed and valued. She's a true asset to the company. I think if she were to communicate with me less (and I only call about every 6 months or so), I would change companies.
Description of Work: Sweetwater Pools regularly services our pool. They also made a special trip out last week, to bring us a new skimmer basket (our old one was cracked & broken, from years of use). The new basket was about $9 + tax

I was struggling mightily with my previous pool service. They did ever seem to show up on the same day, and some weeks not at all. Which meant that the pool had allege issues on a fairly regular basis - not to mention debris that only seemed to be present on the bottom. Which meant, I had to dump in additional chemicals and get out my own vacuum. I then switched to Sweetwater - now my pool is always sparkling clear and clean. No hint of allege and with the twice a month vacuuming service, I've been able to put away my vacuum for good. My service specialist always arrives every Thursday without fail and is great about not only alerting me it problem with the pool, but also fixing them, or working with other contractors to get equipment fix. I have my filtration canister replaced after he noticed it was failing. My only regret is that I didn't go to Sweetwater to begin with. They would have save me almost two years of pool related headaches, and swims in less than pristine water. They desire their very high rating here on Angie's List and have earned my "A" rating over the last 5 months. Have recommended them to several friends already and they are equally pleased.

All I can say aside from what I have already mentioned above, was that I enjoyed dealing with Sweetwater Pool Service from the moment I spoke with Ms. Lucia at my initial call, where she was informative, patient, and professional, right through the home visit by the repair technician who reset my breaker and got my pool going again, right down to the clear communication and very fair final bill
Description of Work: I called them to change out my pool pump which I thought to be blown out. I called the office and spoke with the office manager/customer service personnel. She explained it would be more prudent to bring out the equipment that may be needed so it would save me the cost of an additional trip out. I authorized them to bring out a pump and a motor and seals and gave them permission to fix either issue based on their findings. I was very pleasantly surprised when I received a call from Ms. Lucia at the office, the one who I originally spoke with and she informed me it was simply the breaker that had tripped. I was very happy to learn that even after I had given full permission to do up to the $700 pump replacement, that they not only were honest about it, returned all parts purchased on my behalf and happily informed me everything was fine and I would just be charged a simple service call. I appreciate the way they do business and will most definitely call them again and not hesitate to refer them to anyone

Jim and Tina are the owners. They also come out for any repairs and there is an additional charge. If it is a replacement of a part, then it is the price of the part and the time it takes. They replace the filter every 2 years, and the cost of the replacement is somewhere around $200. The quality of the water is very good. They do what we have agreed on, and they seem to do it well. My end result is that is the pool clean, and the filter running, and the area around it clean, and the answer is yes.
Description of Work: We use Sweetwater Pool Service. They clean the pool every Monday or Tuesday of each week. They clean and maintain the water quality of the pool. They add chemical as needed and clean and change the filter.

The owner and the people who work in the office are very strange and unprofessional. We hired them to clean one of our properties' pools weekly. They cleaned the pool for about one year. Today, the owner called and left a phone message to return his call, that there was "something wrong with the pool." I called him back at the office phone number provided within 5 minutes - and the office woman stated that he was gone for the day. I advised that I was returning his phone call. She then belly ached to me about how this is what typically happens - the owner makes phone calls to customers and then leaves the office, leaving her alone to deal with something that she does not know about. I reiterated the phone message that there was "something wrong." She claimed that the pool had no suction - that the skimmer was not working. For one thing, there is NO "skimmer" installed at this pool. Regardless, she then says, "well - someone will have to go out to see what is wrong." I then replied, "and who would this 'someone' be?" I admit, I can be short at times - as I simply do not have the luxury of time to play games with people on the phone over something as simple and mundane as pool maintenance. If I was the owner of a pool company, I would NOT call a homeowner and leave a wimpy voice message stating there is something wrong with the pool and ask that they return the call. I would simply find out what the problem is and then contact the homeowner and advise the homeowner that the problem is XYZ and here are the options for bringing said pool equipment back to good working order. If you call me to advise that there is no suction - what can I tell you about that as a homeowner ???? If you're not a company who addresses these types of problems - then that kind of message can be relayed to the homeowner - e.g. there is a problem with the pool and you will need to get another pool company to go out and do a diagnostic test to determine what is wrong - as we only clean pools and nothing more. That was not the type of message we received, but when I called and she told me that "someone, would have to go out to the house" and I replied "who that someone might likely be" what kind of a response did I get ???? The woman on the phone decided to play psycho-analyst and asked me, "why are you so angry?" I wasn't angry - I am business-like in my demeanor, I am not their best friend, I am not their hairdresser - I am a very busy homeowner and simply do not have time to play games such as this. When I ask a legitimate question relating to their inquiry, their phone call interupting my busy schedule - then I expect a valid response - not a response back to me asking me "why I am so angry." Nor should I now be put on the defensive by some wacko office woman - who is on a power trip and wants to explore who I am and what makes me tick. I am a business woman, a homeowner - who I am is none of her business. Thankfully - she did not accuse me of "yelling" at her, but I'm sure that was coming next. Yes, my response back to her - was a very quick profane verbiage as I then hung up the phone - for at that moment in time I had come to realize that I had had enough of this company and their antics. I officiated the termination with an e-mail, stating they were fired. I then received an e-mail from the owner of the company - laughable is what it was how he told me that I should be ashamed of myself and that they do not service pools for people who use such language as I used with the woman in his office and how he was glad to know that I was such a horrible person - so that he can no longer service our pool. My gosh - - - it's not a matter of who I think I am - it's a matter of who is it that you were suggesting was going to come out to the house to determine what was wrong with the pool suction. Are you a professional business owner with professional people working in the office or a bunch of weirdos who want to overstep their boundary lines by interrogating their customers - when their customers ask a legitimate question and have every right to anticipate a legitimate response which would have been, "we can come out to take a look or you can hire someone else to come out." If I had received either one of those responses - I then would have asked - then why are you calling me - do you need my permission to go out to the house in order to find out - why there is no suction ??? Save yourself the time and trouble from hiring these people. They make a big deal out of nothing. Like recently they fired one of their pool maintenance technicians - one who I thought actually did a fine job - they fired him - then the owner sent out a long e-mail to all of his customers (did not even bother to use blind cc - so all of his other customers got to see my e-mail address and I their's which is really inappropriate) explaining how he was sorry that he had no choice but to terminate this guy because his performance was not up to their usual standards. Oh really - - - the guy he fired was as nice a guy you would want to meet (nicer than most) and he sure did everything all of the other guys did. I don't care really one way or the other, but to burden homeowners with a long e-mail about his internal affairs within his little pool company shows an abundance of immaturity to me amongst other things. To the very best of my knowledge - according to my husband - the pool motor was replaced by this company, however the owner of the pool company says that within the year that they serviced the pool they did not replace anything at all - not even a filter. I find this perplexing - for a pool filter is something that should be changed every 6 months for basic maintenance - if the pool filter was never changed - then why not ??? Certainly no one ever slipped me an e-mail which said, "do we have your permission to change the pool filter" if so - I would have easily responded stating - "sure by all means - change the pool filter". I would even supply it for you and leave it out there by the pool if you like - just let me know the size and I will purchase one and have it ready for you to do the install. Nothing like that in the entire year we had them cleaning the pool. Yet, we would receive other e-mails having to do with the internal affairs of his company, having to do with his change in billing procedure or change in personnel, yet the things that really mattered (MY POOL) we never received any kind of e-mail informing us of their recommendation for anything, anything whatsoever. Now today - they bring me news that would suggest that my pool motor has burned up ??? Why because they failed to change the filter in all of this time - - - - I have no clue, until I have my new guy go out to the house and determine what was done during the past year. Is this what I hire and pay a pool company for - for an entire year ??? Response to Mr. Arseneau's rebuttal: To make this simple - this owner is not telling the truth. They contacted us 1x in all of the months employed and it was exactly as I stated in my review. Turned out - MUCH was wrong with the pool equipment - but nothing really having to do with the "suction" as they claimed in their phone message. They never sent us any e-mails other than those I spoke of in my review - so again, this owner is not telling the truth. Further, yesterday morning I looked out the window to see his pool truck parked in front of my house. Why ? They were fired two weeks ago. What reason would his guy have for sitting in front of my house ???? I suspect retaliation for this owner really is full of himself and will stop at nothing to make a point. I wrote an e-mail to him yesterday, advising him that they should not try to step foot onto my property as they have no business here with me - the e-mails went back and forth as he just had to have the last word. He wrote "leave me alone." I wrote back to tell him that the only reason he had heard from me is that his truck was parked in front of my house for quite some time. I had a plumber here doing some work who can attest to this fact. Mr. Arseneau claimed that his technician was at my house trying to discern whether he was to clean the pool or not ??? Really ??? After 2 weeks you were fired and your technician can't figure out that not only was this company fired, even if I had not yet fired them - the pool equipment was not working when I fired Sweetwater Pools - so what did he think he was going to do here at my property ??? I honestly do not believe that is why the vehicle was parked outside of my house. I am out of town a good deal of time and over the course of the past year - they know this. I suspect they would like to find out what it is I have done in order to get my pool back up and running and quite honestly at this point - it's none of their business. I have now had to install a monitoring video camera around the pool equipment - to ensure that they do not try to do anything sinister - although more than likely his truck was here just for the purpose of annoyance. As he said in his last e-mail, "try to remember the street is not your property - but we will stay away from what is legally yours." Okay - - that pretty much says it all - so his truck was likely here as an annoyance to pester me to try to make me uneasy. Gee - how professional is that ??? I will share that I have with my new pool company - taken care of the problem and it was much grander that merely replacing a pool filter and what was truly wrong is something that any pool technician (not even a specialist) or homeowner could easily be aware of. This guy made no mention of it - in fact it came as quite a shock to me - so that is just how pathetic this guy and his pool company truly is. Consider yourself warned - for a guy like this can fool some of the people, some of the time, but he cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

Response from Sweetwater Pool Service
My name is James Arseneau and I am the Owner of Sweetwater Pool service and wanted to reply to this review personally. We have only serviced this customers pool for 10 months and in that period we have had only a few occasions to reach out and try to talk to them. All of those phone calls were never answered and our emails were never responded to. [removed member name]makes note to us changing equipment that we have not done and makes statements to the fact that we should have just changed her pool filter even though we didn't have permission to do so because she is a very busy business professional. With not knowing how she conducts her business, our policy is to get verbal or written permission from our Customers before spending their money. We do have a handful of Customers that over the years have stated that they trust us and that we could go ahead with repairs up to a certain price level without contacting them. For them we do this but we were never given this right from the [removed member name]. As a matter of fact we have 2 unanswered emails and 1 phone message asking to change there pool filter but we never received an answer. We don't take lack of communication from our Customers as authority to spend their money. If this was a case of a giant leak at the equipment and the pool water was flooding out the equipment area or something was causing damage to something else than we would have made a decision on behalf of our customer to make the repair to save them money in the end. But this was just a pool filter and we didn't even know how old it was because we have only been servicing the pool for 10 months. What's odd is that all of this could have been easily resolved if the [removed member name] would have just responded to our requests for communication to discuss the problems. She states that she is way to busy running her business to communicate with us but yet she has the hour it took her to right this nasty review.. Sweetwater Pool Service has earned the Angies list Super service award for 3 years and reached top status on the honor roll which is very hard to do. It certainly can't be done by making Customers unhappy. Also last year Sweetwater won the Naples Daily News award for Best pool service in all of Naples. This also is not easy since there are about 100 pool service providers in Naples. This award came from our Customers voting for us. Sweetwater is not a giant pool service so for the number of customer votes to exceed the votes from the big guys with 4-5 times the number of Customers is Huge. With this being said I would greatly appreciate if you as a disciplined buyer that has enough concern to be an Angies list customer would take the time to read our other reviews. In 6 years in business we have never had a customer this off the wall mad about something that we had no control over. When [removed member name] was angered by my Office Manager for what she says is an attempt at Psychology. I would ask what would you do if someone was yelling and swearing at you on the phone? Would you 1) yell and swear back? we chose not to. Would you 2) hang up the phone? we chose not to. or 3) would you try to calm the Customer down and ask her why she is so angry? that's what we did. Our reputation is at stake here and I want you to feel comfortable with us. Please check out our reviews on Angies list, Our Status with the largest paper in Naples and our triple A rating with the BBB. if that's not enough than just give us a call and see what you think. Please don't let the writings of a woman that needs anger management classes make your decision. James Arseneau

The office staff were helpful and the repair was scheduled promptly. In addition to repairing the broken pipe and replacing the filter, the technician explained how to change the filter and maintain the pool. I had misunderstood what was covered by the estimate, and Sweetwater authorized a discount from the bill even though I was the one who made the mistake. I would use them again.

Showed professionalism and quick response in pointing me to an able provider who was not affiliated with Sweetwater.
Description of Work: I contacted Sweetwater but did not use their services because they did not provide pool/spa gas heater repair services. They did, however, put me in contact with Brandon at Leisure Pools who is truly a local expert in gas heater repairs. Given the promptness of their response to me and the fact that they pointed me in the proper direction to meet my needs I must given this provider credit for professionalism and a clear understanding of the business that they are in.

After several years of using another pool service, my pool just didn't look good. I called Sweetwarer, and they sent Willie out right away. He balanced the chemicals and made sure all of my equipment was working properly.. He did a super job. My pool once again looks clean and sparkling blue. He was extremely pleasant and helpful, as was Denise in the office. These people are terrific to work with!

I have been through four different pool service companies and finaly decided to join Angies list to see what they offered. I can tell you that after seven weeks I couldn't be more pleased. The professionalism and courtesy of Sweet Water Pool Sevice office staff and Alfonso, my pool service maintenence person, are more than I had hoped for. Alfonso does an excellent job and has given me more information on the care and maintenance of a pool, the things that can go wrong with it, and how they can be prevented than I have ever received before. Further, I am so pleased with Angies list and the results that I have since used them to hire a interior designer to redesign my kitchen and plan to use them again for an interior painter. I have been using this company for almost a year. I have found them to be extremely personable and fair in my dealings. They take responsibility for issues and get them fixed. Proactive communications and professionalism has been the norm in the year we have been doing business. While they may not be the cheapest in price, their reliability and great job make this one thing in my life I do not typically need to worry about. I recommend this company for weekly pool service in the Naples area without hesitation.

My first call to Sweetwater went well. The gentleman was polite. He asked me the current condition of my pool and I told him it was turning green and I needed someone to begin weekly maintenance, as I was having trouble with proper chemical balances. He said "no problem" and that his service tech would arrive Friday. He didn't show up until Monday, and by then the pool was greener, but still typical of a pool that needs servicing. That's when things went down hill. The next day I received the following series of emails (with no apparent reason for the weird attitude of the owner): First email from owner of business: "When we arrived the pool was dark green and disgusting. Unless you pay for a start up service it will take a couple of weeks to get blue again. We will need to change your filter out next week because we can't keep running water through a green filter. The filter cost is $99.53 installed." (my filter is only three months old) My email response: "I told you that my pool was turning green. I don't need to be told that my pool is "disgusting". If this is your idea of how to work with a new client, I'm finding someone else." His response via email: "Turning green and having a shag carpet on the bottom is very different. You know what, I don't want to bother you with the detail of your disgusting pool so we quit. You will receive a bill for our 1 visit." My response via email: "Go ahead and send me the bill. Not only will I not pay it, I'll also file a complaint with the BBB and I'll make a report on Angie's List. In fact, I'm going to include the transcript of these emails, so anyone thinking of using you will be forewarned." His final response via email: "Ok. I will save the photo of the pool. I will not charge you for the service. Make sure you include this email." This guy probably regrets having all his ignorant and rude comments on paper, but that's what happens when you don't know how to treat customers. Not once did I say anything to him to cause his attitude. I have the transcripts and these statements are word for word. Regarding the condition of the pool, I immediately took a water sample to a pool supply store and they gave me the proper chemicals to clear the water. Within hours it was perfectly blue! I have now hired that company to take care of the pool, and for less per month, to boot.

Response from Sweetwater Pool Service
My name is James Arseneau and I am the owner of Sweetwater Pool Service. I would like to ask that anyone reading this review take the time to read our other reviews. You will see that we have received straight “A” reviews from many customers until this particular one. This review by [member name removed] is not accurate and is not demonstrative of the hard work we do to insure our customers’ happiness. Oddly enough, the polite gentleman he refers to in his second sentence is me. The chain of events leading up to [member name removed] bad review goes as follows. This gentleman called us to sign up for service and mentioned that his pool had not been serviced for a week or so and was just starting to go green. As all new clients are advised, [member name removed] was told that we are flexible and can remedy a slightly green pool quickly but solid green with lots of algae may require a small start up service and a new filter. The customer had relayed to us that the pool was not in dire condition. When my service tech arrived at his pool one could not see below the first step, with thick algae and amphibious life obviously present. My service tech reported that when he brushed the pool it was like brushing through shag carpet on the bottom. I immediately called [member name removed] and told him what we found and sent him a picture of his pool as a reference to discuss further remedy on his behalf. I only wish I could post a picture with this review but the folks at Angie’s List said it was not possible, unfortunately. The customer responded via email that he was upset that I had referred to his pool as disgusting. In fairness to him and in hind sight I would not use that word again, but I do admit saying that. I gave the customer a choice, as we always do, to allow us to remedy the pool slowly with regular visits, or to speed up the process and perform a separate service designed to clear up the pool quickly with more frequent visits for a small service cost. With either treatment we would need to change the green filter cartridge. That advice was not well received, and [member name removed] said if this is how we want to treat a new customer than he will look for another service provider. We do like to take customers on their word, naturally, but when we found the pool was in such poor condition, we only wanted to discuss the severity and remedy, yet [member name removed]seemed not to want to participate in such problem solving discussions. Due to his discontent, regardless of the fact we had used a month’s worth of chemicals and an hour of labor invested, we did offer to only charge him simply for a prorated service visit at $21.25 for the one visit and that we would not be resuming service. We were naturally taken back by the threat of a false low rating as retaliation for his unsettledness, so we did in fact dismiss the charge. This is not how we do business here and ask the reader to take the time and read our other reviews, and you may reason that [member name removed] is not painting an accurate depiction of our business, but one out of anger. Angie’s list is a very respected and reliable source, and also hard to keep a perfect score with. In business you are never going to make 100% of your customers happy 100% of the time. I will personally strive to see that this is our last bad review and will personally put forth every effort possible to insure that your review of my company is very favorable.

Had it all fixed before I returned from the store. I never would have found the problem myself; I thought the pump motor was shot. I would definitely call Sweetwater again.
