when we first met Carl--quite good. Nice man and seemed like stand up guy. The job started, albiet late, due to trying to accomodate another job. It was as to be expected a mess the first day. After that things rather went downhill. They used our hose which was pretty much trashed and used a back pack blower to clean off pieces and dust. That was followed by hosing down the deck which made the dust in the patio door tracks harden and we had to get on hands and knees to use screw drivers and toothbrushes with our shop vac to get the doors to even work. In their defense I did call Carl rather irrate and he said they would clean everything. Not so much. Still cleaning "product" out of our garden beds, had to vacuum the lawn to pick up pieces of concrete that they simply blew and wahed out onto the lawn and the worst problem they washed all the dust into our drain which promptly hardened and clogged the drain. We called Gina, Carl's daughter, about the clogged drain as we had spent 3 hours trying to clean out what we could ourselves and she said they would have someone come out and "assess" the situation. No follow up call was recieved so with all the rain at this time of year we couldn't leave it any longer and took it upon ourselves to attempt to clean out the drain as we had not heard back. I did text Gina and she had her dad call but we were outside with a roto router trying to clean cement out of the drian and missed his call. He did leave a message doubting that it was their product but we sent pictures of what was coming out of the drain and it could only be what they washed into the drain NOT just at the ends but all the way down. 20 man hours later the drian is realitively clean now. gina didn't like my tone on my texts but I don't feel out of line as they never communicated that they had someone out to assess the problem and it's been since July the 18th since they were "finished" and paid in full that day. Very poor communication and asked wished that we had given them time to address the drain but it's been over a month since they were paid and 3 weeks since we first reported the problem. I think 3 weeks is long enough to wait for addressing an issue like this. Communication was nonexistent until I started sending texts. Were my texts terse yes but not rude as she stated. We spent over 12,000$ to not even get the courtesy of a phone call that they even sent someone out to check the ensd of the drains that we had already cleared out. On top of that when it rains and the deck is wet there are STILL dark spots on the deck that they recoated once so far but it's still happening. Still cleaning overspray off our garden beds stones and out of the dirt. My grey Mexican beach pebbles are now speckeled with white cement.

I can summarize this review in three words...JUST DO IT!! You won't be disappointed. We had a painted concrete courtyard and additional lanai. It had hairline cracks and even after professional painting, itchipped and flaked. We spoke to other resurfacing companies, but we really liked the sound of Surface Works' process, and we felt very good about Carl as a person and a businessman. We expected this to be a HUGE mess. They covered our pool and power washed after the grinding. While it was still a little bit dusty, not unmanageable at all. Their team are true artisans. No two surfaces are alike. This is not your neighbor's stamped concrete! Any hairline crackes are worked into your individualized pattern, so when they reappear (and face it, they will) no one will notice them. It is truly unbelievable, and the pictures do not do justice to the finished product. The weather may hold you up, but be patient and take heart, it's worth the wait! The color options are endless, and they too can be individualized to your project. The whole team is polite, respectful, and professional. The kind of people you want to work at your home. JUST DO IT!

From first visit and quote to the completed job, we were very impressed with this company. And we were ecsatic with the results. Their workers were true artisans. How they could hand trowel and color without using stamps is truely amazing. The surface looks like hand-layed and grouted stone with the texture and color variations of real stone. Everytime we go out on our patio we shake our head with disbelief that our lanai and patio could look this good. We highly recommend this company and if we ever move and need a facelift for our lanai and patio, our first call will be to Surface Works. How many contractors do not ask for money up front and tell you to pay them if you are happy with the job? This is the first contractor that gave us those terms. We are truly impressed with the company and the work the job they did for us.
