Buy Resale, Do NOT Buy New We built a new home with Stock Development in 2014. Our house was built very well. When hurricane Irma wreaked havoc on neighboring communities, our home was unscathed. We had some minor 'punch list' issues when we moved in but they were handled quickly and effectively. That said, they were extremely deceptive in their sales tactics. That is one reason we would never buy another new home from Stock Development. Since 2014, Stock's lack of integrity in their sales department spilled over into their "warranty promise". It is not a promise at all. Homeowners who built in my neighborhood in last two years have had horrific experiences trying to get warranty work done. New homeowners have foot the bill to get repairs, replacements and installations done properly that unequivocally were covered under the supposed warranty. As evidence of this, check out BBB.org and you will see four complaints filed in the first half of 2018. The other reason I would never buy a new home from Stock Development is the deteriorating quality. We did notice some silly skimping on our home. Doorbells cracked easily, so most people replaced them. Smoke alarms were generally defective and had to be replaced too. The worst was probably the cheap plumbing connectors under sinks. Four homes in my community flooded when these broke. Again, people became aware and replaced them all. (FYI, the replacements were about $5 more than the ones Stock installed.) Sadly, the extent of quality issues has grown exponentially in the last year or two. Not only are punch lists much longer than they used to be, they contain items of far more consequence (improperly laid tile, failure to grade land, lack of sealant around windows, doors and even the roof!). For more details, see the detailed complaints on the BBB website. I love my home and have no plans to move. If I had to though, I would buy a Stock resale or build new with a different developer.
