I saw Prestige's ad on Craigslist (my first mistake) after I had gone to Home Depot, bought a water tank, brought it home, cut out the existing water tank and then realized the pipes were too close to use shark bite connectors. Prestige said they had someone available that afternoon who could come to my home to direct connect the tank. A simple task for a plumber to solder two brass pipes to the tank. My second mistake was not asking what their cost would be, but I stressed I had done all the work and just needed a plumber who could sweat copper pipes. The individual who showed up was courteous and completed the job inside an hour. He stated I would be contacted by the office to address payment. When contacted I was told the service completed was a water tank installation and would be $495! Are you kidding?!? I did all the work and they even left the old tank. Who charges that rate in the first place and who would consider billing a client that amount after I did 90% of the work? A shady operation, that's who! They finally relented and came down to $325... Now keep in mind he was here for less than an hour to address connecting two pipes... The best attorneys out there don't make $325 an hour. In an interesting twist the person on the phone changed the story to justify this price by stating it was an emergency call since I asked for someone to come out that day. What?!? They never said this would be an emergency rate Avoid this company!
