I called for a quote from Miller-Morgan on Oct 4 to come out to sanitize/chlorinate my Water/Well & house lines After Irma as my Well Water tasted like Rotted Wood. The lady who answered quoted me at $1700 stating it was VERY labor intensive to do this job. She went further to say they just DON'T do what OTHER companies do by JUST pouring Chlorine or Bleach down the well as that's NOT as effective as the product THEY use. I asked WHAT product THEY use and what makes the process SO LABOR INTENSIVE for THEM vs what OTHER companies MIGHT DO who were quoting me MUCH less UNDER $400. I CANNOT justify $1700 to do THIS.... No matter WHAT Chemicals you use. 1. Put the Water Softener system on bypass 2. REMOVE ALL Pre-FILTERS & Filters IN frig, Ice Maker, PULL Showerheads OFF, PULL Reducers OFF Faucets 3. Back flush the house lines w LIQUID Chlorine (put into prefilter IF you hv one AFTER you RMV Filter) 4. Pour 3 gal LIQUID Chlorine down the WELL there SHOULD be an access plug IF NOT drill a hole, big enough to put a funnel to pour LIQUID Chlorine Down Drain. BUY a Silicone (Wont deteriorate vs rubber) PLUG to fit in drilled Hole !! 5. Let it ALL SIT for 8+ hours OVERNIGHT is PERFECT ESPECIALLY IF you have NEVER done this before. I checked mine at 8 hrs it wasn't ready BUT the NEXT morning IT WAS!! IF you need to take Painters tape put on FAUCET handles so you DON'T USE TAPE SHUT, DON'T FLUSH TOILET ETC. USE BUT DONT FLUSH TIL NEXT DAY .... Yea yea I know BUT IF you FLUSH it will PULL the Chlorine OUT which you DON'T want to do, til you Flush lines!! 6. Then FLUSH ALL Lines start w well 1st use spicket CLOSEST to well run til NO smell of Chlorine. 7. Then go to Farthest line in home start flushing sinks, tubs, toilets, showerheads, refrigerator, ice maker, outside spickets from HOUSE and well run sprinkler 8. Put filters and Pre-Filters BACK IN 9. Test water at Collier County, FL $25 .... for ANY Bacteria + Chlostridium etc. 10. You are GOOD TO GO Your Well + house lines are Sanitized !! I asked her to PLEASE call me back as I WAS INTERESTED in the PRODUCT THEY were using. MAYBE it WAS a BETTER product, MAYBE it COULD justify The COST they were charging. I also have animals here and THEY are MY PRIORITY so I wanted to understand BEFORE I said YES OR NO what this product was. Instead I was laughed at in a snickering WHY? Bc I stated I WOULD NOT use their company UNTIL I KNEW what, the product was. I TRIED explained to her how sensitive the Birds are to Chemicals BUT... She seemed to take offense because I didn't schedule an appt BUT I was VERY clear and upfront in saying I really wanted to know what the product was FIRST to see IF it would leave ANY TYPE OF RESIDUAL to harm the Birds as THEY are VERY sensitive to Chemicals. I KNOW what they can handle with chlorine AND there was no sense in scheduling an appt UNLESS I could research the product FIRST. I was talking to her in-btwn contractor appts, trying to grab a sandwich as power keeps going down and I kept loosing my phone signal. Yep, til TODAY 10.9.17 power, internet is STILL going out DAILY from 🌀Irma !! UNSURE what FPL or Comcast doing to FIX services BUT it MUST STOP shutting off daily PLZ .... 😬 She could not tell me the NAME of the product THEY use OR What the DIFFERENCE was THEY did to justify the $1700 price tag. This to me is well over TRIPLE a NORMAL Price from OTHER Companies (Price Gauging) AND for something that a HOMEOWNER CAN DO THEMSELVES for a few hours of work + 4 gal of Pool Chlorine I purchased mine at Home Depot Just under $14 for ALL 4 gal. Do Your research on ALL companies & contractors, compare pricing and Its FL LAW that ANY Contractor you have do work on your home is licensed & insured. Altho licensed & insured .... It seems they are taking advantage of Hurricane Victims with their pricing ... Companies IF you don't want to do a service instead of over pricing just DON'T offer it. I had called previously on 9.27.17 After Irma HOWEVER the VM was FULL and I could NOT leave a msg bc no one answered the phones. There was a recording saying they had closed for the storm.
