I currently live in the Naples development of Forest Park. In the year 2014 Landscape Florida was the contracted landscaping company for our development. They routinely cut the grass and managed other shrubs and plants. Last year I personally asked this company to make a privacy hedge between my house and the house next door. They sent out a man to consult with me about the possible plants that could be used. Not knowing anything about any plants I asked advice from their worker and he suggested the ficus plant. A work order was drawn up and eventually 15 ficus plants were planted on my property. Some months later I noticed that all the leaves had fallen off the plants -- thinking they needed more water I began watering them more often. There was little or no improvement. This January 2015 another company was contracted to begin the landscaping work at our development. They informed me that the ficus plant has a problem with the Ficus Whitefly and that all the plants were either dead or dying. Why the worker from Landscape Florida would suggest to plant the Ficus on my property -- knowing about this problem -- was wrong. No one ever told me there was this possibility and since I have researched it on the internet I have discovered that the ficus is not a recommended plant for southwest Florida at this time. Well, the bottom line here is that when I finally learned the facts -- from the new landscape company -- I called Landscape Florida to find out why they would recommend to plant something with such a formidable pest and to see if they would rectify this problem in any way -- I was told that since they stopped working for our development as of Jan. 1, 2015 they are no longer responsible for anything that they did while they were there. This was told to me by the President of the company - Eric Evans. He didn't give me an explanation as to why his worker would recommend this plant and even went so far to propose that the plants were infested, defoliated and died from Jan. 1, 2015 to the current date Feb. 9, 2015 and that they were perfectly fine while his company was on site. He claimed that if his workers saw a problem with the ficus plants they would have been treated for the Whitefly and even claimed that they were paid to do so. But it's obvious by the condition of the plants in the last few months that they were either never treated or not treated sufficiently. So at this date I have lost $180 dollars and I have lost 15 Ficus plants.
Description of Work: Plant 15 ficus trees on my property.
