+ -1 moreMy husband called Affordable Fence (Mike) about the fence he put up for our neighbor. The fence was installed OVER THE PROPERTY LINE. In thus causing the fence to be on my property. Mike told us there was nothing he can do, that he installed it based on what the home owner told him. He sent over the homeowner plan and it CLEARLY shows that the fence is over the property line and he also asked for us to send over our survey which we did. We then called back to make sure he received the survey and had a chance to go over it when he told my husband you’re crying over 16 inches. What kind of customer service is that? And he clearly just admitted that the fence is in fact over the property line. Don’t do work with this company. He just takes the money and run. Leaving a horrible job behind.

+ -1 moreI called Mike, he came by that night to introduce himself and go through the project. His original estimate was very good, but I added several things, changed a couple of things, and had several special requests. My final problem was I needed the whole thing done in a week to get the county to sign off on my pool. Two days later they started, and got the whole thing done a day early. Passed inspection and my kids were swimming the following weekend! Mike and his crew did what they said, did it right, and followed up with a call to see if we were happy.

+ -1 moreRepeated calls, emails, pictures, etc., sent to this company were ignored. I even told them to let me know if they would not or could not do anything and to not leave me hanging. There was still total silence on their end. They certainly do not have customer service which you would expect for the amount of money that was spent to have the fence installed. I would never deal with Affordable Fencing again. When they did they original job they should have told me it was too far to come, but for the price charged they did the job. The only problem is they don't back up their work and it turned out to be shoddy. I have pictures of what I sent them and pictures of the quality work that was done by another company for half the quoted price that Affordable Fencing gave me for a repair that they did not do.
Description of Work: If you live in Lee County, DO NOT hire Affordable Fence. Their ad states: “Affordable Fence & Screen stands by all that we offer and we are proud of the quality fence construction services and retractable screen services we provide through Collier and Lee Counties. Exceeded satisfaction is guaranteed!” Although they say they service Lee and Collier Counties they only come out to Lee County when you are PURCHASING a fence. They DO NOT come out to repair their product. The fence I had installed by Affordable Fencing 2 years ago was falling apart and needed to be repaired. Their web site ad for PVC fencing states: 1. Strength: PVC vinyl fencing has 5 times the strength of wood, allowing for a greater amount of stress to be placed on the material without worrying about bending or breaking. 2. Flexibility: Because vinyl fencing is composed of materials that give it a considerable amount of flexibility, it has a much greater chance of surviving harsh weather conditions and the force of pressure washing than a stiffer option which might crack, bend, or break. I was told that it was too far to come for an estimate and to send pictures and MAYBE they could send me the materials to make the repairs. The fence was only 2 years old and the person I spoke to acted like this is normal for their product. After all the fence is 2 years old. I don’t think in only 2 years the side should detach from the house and the panels fall out. Of course, when you only use nails instead of screws as anchors into the house it is going to come apart. Small winds have the 6' panels detaching from the rails and falling in the yard. They can be easily put back in place, but that should not happen. The area that is damaged has all the panels there, but the bottom rail is bent and needs to be replaced. I was told that they do not make that fence any longer and they would figure out something that could be done. I also explained that several of the 6’ panels have fallen out during higher winds and some have discolored. Their web site further states: 3. Virtually Maintenance-Free: A vinyl fence will not show chipping, rusting, or discoloration, which avoid touch-ups. An initial investment in this maintenance-free product saves time and money that will eventually be spent on repairs and supplies with other types of fencing. 4. Water-Safe: Wooden fences will warp and rot. Metal fences will rust with too much water exposure. But a vinyl fence will remain safe and intact against these conditions, allowing it to be placed by a swimming pool, sprinkler, or other moisture-filled areas without the hassle of fixing water damage in the future. 5. Lifetime Warranty: Typically, lifetime warranties accompany PVC vinyl fencing purchases. With this warranty you can rest assured that you have invested in a high quality product that will remain a reliable part of your yard for years to come. Apparently their web site advertises falsely since I have problems with all five statements on their web site. It goes on to state: “At Affordable Fence and Screen, our experts are happy to talk with you about the various fencing types and options. If you’re looking to install a PVC vinyl fence in your yard or simply have questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call. With over 17 years of experience, we understand and appreciate your business. Thank you for trusting Affordable Fence & Screen. Contact us today!” Lifetime warranty until something goes wrong and you are told that “after all, the fence is two years old.” I did not know that 2 years constituted a “lifetime”. After my experience with Affordable Fence & Screen I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them.

+ -1 moreMichael was very professional to work with. From the first phone call, he was onsite in hours to give a preliminary quote. Once we decided to go with him, he came out and went over all the details and options we wanted. The quote he gave us after that was held to. The time frame he gave us was also met. Once work started, they were done very quickly and left no trace of debris. Michael was alos able to refer and arrange other trades I needed for lot line clearing. I've worked with other contractors over the year and I wish they were all like Affordable Fence. They came recommended to me from others and I am greatfull for the tip.

Michael worked with me side by side, my job took a lot of work and time to complete because I had to comply with City Regulations. I called others companies to give me an estimate but when they saw how challenge my job was they never come back with the estimate. Affordable Fence did a great job.

+ -1 moreIn September 2013, I discussed with the contractor the importance that the fence had to meet current building- and fire department codes. I urged contractor to discuss all rules and requirements with both the building department and fire department prior to starting the job. After some delay, contractor stated on Oct. 2 that he discussed the requirements with the building department. The fence was installed late October. Ten days later I found out that the contractor never obtained a county permit. In early November the contractor made an unannounced visit to our office, demanding to be paid the balance. Contractor was paid a partial payment and was asked to arrange for the final inspections before the last payment would be made. I contacted the fire department on November 13 and was advised that the contractor should request the inspection; not the owner. On November 18 the contractor again made an unannounced visit during my busy practice, demanding money, stating that inspections were not necessary and threatening to sue me. He embarrassed me in front of my clients.

+ -1 moreThey were nice. They did a good job in terms of giving me a quote. They were very thorough. The only problem was it took them a while to electronically transfer to me. It seems that they really struggled with that. But once they did get it to me, I thought they had done a good job in terms of the schematic of my yard and remembering all of the details of what I needed.
