We had to have our system replaced before we moved in because of mold. AAA A & C was highly recommended by a former neighbor. Mike Palon, the owner and his helper did an outstanding job, under trying circumstances. The air handler is installed in the attic, accessed through a trap door in a closet. No flooring and the roof slopes away to crawl space, the narrowest where the two new ducts were installed and the new drain line exits. The work was done in June, and the midday attic temperature was measured at 134 deg. Not only that, but we had a new roof installed at the same time. While the roof was being installed, Mike also finished the installation of the new dryer vent pipe. Meanwhile the architectual review committee visited and made its presence known. Downstairs, it was hot without the air conditioning. Mike finished the duct work, dryer vent and moved the thermostat while other craftsman were working. In finishing up, Mike and Ken removed all signs of the previous system, extended the new drain line to improve the drainage, and finished the site of the new condenser unit by sheathing the wires that dropped down from the attic in metal. The sheaving was then painted the same color as the house so that it is almost invisible from the road. A very neat job that pleased the H.O.A. AAA completed the work without delay. We were very pleased, especially with their skill and endurance, attention to detail, punctuality and doing what we wanted.. So were the county inspectors. Both the air conditioning and the drier vent pipe easily passed Collier County inspection. And all of this at far less cost than the major dealers. The system works very well. It is quiet, the temperature is steady, and there are no unpleasant drafts with the new grills with four way flaps, just as mike said. i
Description of Work: AAA replaced and expanded our entire air conditioning system prior to moving in. This included installing the new 3 1/2 ton16 Seer condenser unit at the opposite side of the house (about 27 feet), relocating the drain from the air handler to the rear of the building, relocating the thermostat to a different wall, configuring and installing entirely new ducts, grill covers and new copper lines. Additionally, extending the air conditioning to the enclosed lanai, adding an additional warm air return duct and installing a Biolight. Also included in the job was the installation of a dryer vent for the new location for our washer and dryer. AAA obtained the permits, and made the required heat load estimates. From the results of the heat load estimate the County approved the upgraded system. AAA also removed and disposed of the old system, except for the concrete pad under the condenser unit, which they used at the new location. The wiring down from the attic to the condenser was neatly finished, painted and rodent proofed. All the new work either blends in or is hidden to the satisfaction of the landscape committee. The vestiges of the old condenser and drain were removed, filled in. All in all a very neat job. Both inspections ( A.C. and dryer vent) were easily passed. We obtained another bid from a major firm that gave an infomercial. Their offer was 80% higher ( $14500).
