Installing the new covered deck involved demolition of old dock & seawall. Opting for aluminum vs composite or wood posed unique challenges as the new dock HAD to be installed perfectly “square” as the aluminum decking arrived precut. The #1 p/t ground contact wooden roof posts, joists and header materials are the finest available and double through bolted using ½” galvanized fasteners. Construction of the hand framed 26 gauge galvanized metal hip roof was outstanding. The covered deck is solidly cross-braced and looks incredible. Both the seawall and dock crews were very responsive and customer friendly. The remarkable precision and quality workmanship on the project exceeded all my expectations!!

I had a total of 4 bids. Southern Docks was the cheapest and most thought through bid. The other guys did not pay attention to detail. Some of the other bids would not return my phone calls or emails in a timely manner. Tom is extremely professional. After looking at approximately 15 other docks that Tom had built and talking with their owners, I got nothing but positive feedback...EVERY single owner was extremely happy with his work . HIs work is flawless. I changed the design probably 10 times and Tom never complained. Tom keeps his word and the payment did not change, other than I added a few upgrades. I have seen many docks in Lake County and Tom's docks far exceed anyone else's docks. If you pick Southern Docks you will be very happy with your product. Trust me, you are wasting your time with anyone else...I spent months researching the docks and the dock builders. I have done all the homework for you. Also, I would highly recommend Trex Transend.

We interviewed a total of 4 contractors. Tom's price was competitive and fair. He could start significantly sooner than others and also gave us a timeline to completion that was shorter than the others. Tom was very prompt in coming out to meet with us and understand our needs and budget. He was professional and polite throughout. He met the timelines that he promised which included getting the necessary plans, permits and supplies. His crews were very concientious. They were neat and paid attention to our landscape, not to do any damage or leave a big mess for us to have to work around. They were busy the entire time they were on the project --- no time was wasted! They also kept me informed as to what they planned to complete that day and how long they would be there. Tom was on-sight to monitor the work almost daily - if he wasn't by that day, he would call to "touch base". He responded to Inquiries whether by phone, text or email very promptly! Although the design we chose is a relatively simple one - the workmanship shows pride and detail ! The bullnosed end caps and extra design to the support beams make this simple dock and boat house stand out. We've had so many compliments from other boaters passing by! Would highly recommend this company. They delivered as promised --- on time and on budget ! It's clear that Tom sets high standards and takes pride in meeting them. Was a real pleasure to work with this company.
