I had Richard, Santiago, and Jerry from Solar and Air having installed the hurricane impact windows in my apartment a couple of weeks ago. The job was done professionally and very accurately within a day. In addition, they have been very responsive and helpful answering all my questions/ and concerns. It was just a pleasure to deal with them. HIGHLY recommend these guys for the job! As a quick note: Since I live in a condo, the city permit took a while to obtain. The Solar and Air customer representative was constantly updating me on its status throughout the installation Very satisfied, and highly recommend. Thank you, Viktoryia -

I was scheduled to have 5 windows replaced with impact glass by Florida Solar and Air. While it was expensive (though not as expensive as what Home Depot quoted me) the one thing that really sold me on this company was the fact that everything was included in the price including the wood bucks, drywall, stucco, grout, and anything else. Sure enough, the front window removal revealed water damage around the sill area, due to a poorly fitting window. They fixed that free of charge and grouted the area. All that we need to do is sand and touch up the paint. On the large bedroom window, upon removal of the old window a large chunk of stucco fell off the side of the house due to faulty application whenever it was originally put up. They fixed this as well and all I have to do is touch up the paint. They arrived on time, and best of all…though I'd blocked Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the installation, they arrived around 10:30am and all 5 windows were completely installed by 3:30pm! A week later the city inspector came out and everything was good. I shopped around and got several quotes before deciding on Florida Solar and Air, and I was very happy with my decision. The work crew was professional knowledgeable and made sure to cover all of my furniture with protective plastic. Even so, there was very little to clean up since they did a good job of removing any dust. Outside they cleaned up any metal and glass and hauled away all of the old nasty windows. The new windows are the CGI Impact Glass windows and I am very happy with their quality, and improved sound dampening and insulation against the heat. While they may not be the cheapest in town, they make up for it with the all included, no additional charges policy. Also, they handled all of my HOA and city approvals and permits, and the entire process and installation was painless and best of all, completed way ahead of schedule. Great job to Brian, Richard and the crew who installed my windows :)

So How Did Installation Go? Well, the number 1 Clue is that installation started on July 7 and ended on August 10. There were problems. The sidelight window did not arrive because the window was broken, because the wrong kind was delivered, because, because—you pick the reason. Thus, the door and sidelight install had to be delayed. Second, the wrong kind of window was ordered and installed in one of my bedrooms—a change order executed within 24 hours of the original contract was not reflected in the order to the window manufacturer. Finally, two of the six horizontal sliding windows opened in a different direction than specified in the original order. Obviously, there are issues on the Order Entry level at Florida Solar & Air. One of the windows developed a squeak when opening and quickly escalated into a warranty issue. The good news—CGI techs corrected the problem in about 15 minutes and it has not reoccurred. The not so good news—it took them about two weeks to schedule the service. I worked with two installer crews and both were proficient and did good quality work (excepting one window that during City inspection required the insertion of additional screws—fortunately an installer was present during inspection). They also took pride in keeping the work area clean of any debris. The Project Manager and Customer Service staff were accommodating. No excuses were offered for the order entry errors and the corrections were made promptly. I was also offered a price concession on the pesky sidelight issue. In other words, customer service was good. Would I hire Florida Solar & Air Again? H’mm good question. Arguing yes is that I really do like the windows. They are well constructed, look good and I am getting complements from my neighbors. I can already feel the effects of heat not seeping into my home and my utility kw usage was down almost 20% during the first month after my windows were installed. Also, I did receive good, courteous service from the installation crews, the project manager and customer service. I like that. Arguing no is that quality control systems should be in place to prevent order entry errors and a customer’s specification sheet really should be adhered to. I would want to see what they have done to improve those systems before I order again. Also I am an old guy who does not like hassles and my friend Maureen should not have to listen to me gripe. We will see as I will have a phase two of this project within the next year or two to replace sliding glass doors leading to a patio off my main living area and my master bedroom.
Description of Work: Description of Project Have you been to a Home Show in South Florida recently? I attend at least two per year with my good friend, Maureen, and if we have noticed one constant as we walk up and down the aisles, it is that we will always find vendors selling hot tubs and almost a limitless number of companies hawking hurricane impact windows. Business must be good because it seems like any one in construction or home improvement related business is getting into the Windows replacement business. It is against this background that I decided the time had come to replace my single pane 1986 era house windows and to get an impact front door while I was at it. Oh, the power of Home Show suggestion. In any event, my initial project was for seven window openings and a front door with sidelight replacements. I knew it would be expensive—the South Florida Miami-Date County hurricane standards dominate and they are exacting—and that I would be paying upwards of $1000 per window and at least double that for the door and sidelight replacement. Picking a Vendor and a Product I invited five vendors to submit bids—two big box stores (Home Depot and Lowe’s) and three local replacement window companies. The in-home visits were fascinating both in terms of new stuff learned and watching the sales techniques employed. I learned about the differences between aluminum and vinyl windows, why a low Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) was so important in the South Florida environment and even learned the benefits of LowE 366 coatings could provide me in both comfort and energy savings. I learned that all the proposed vendors were tied to a specific window manufacturer and this also had to be a big part of the selection equation. I decided that having a Florida based manufacturer was important, both because of the need to adhere to Miami-Dade standards and their local presence in the event of any warranty claims. I ended up picking Florida Solar & Air because of the time the sales rep spent with educating me on my choices and because of the solid reputation of the CGI Windows and Door company as a provider of quality hurricane resistant products, their price point (2nd lowest quote) and mostly favorable customer reviews on Angie’s List and Home Advisor web sites. I selected a Vinyl Frame (for its energy efficiency), a 3 Layer, 7/16” Clear LoE 366 Laminated Glass in a Horizontal Rolling Window with an SHGC of .27. I placed the order, paid my deposit and waited for the delivery date several weeks into the future.

From start to finish, I was impressed with this company. They were the first ones that I scheduled an appointment with for estimates. We were so impressed with the sales guys that we signed the contract that night. We got a quote for replacing all the windows in the house, but due to budget, we started off with two of the biggest ones and the front door. We were contacted and install date was set. On installation day, the installers arrived early within the window I was given. The two guys that did the installation were great. The care they showed for the job and the protection of my home was exceptional! They went over and above in putting drop clothes and plastic over all the furniture. The install on the front door was a bit difficult, so instead of keeping us all night, they asked if they could come back the next day to finish up. The arrived exactly when they said they would and finished the job better than expected! They even tiled and grouted the entry area with leftover tiles we had. You would never know it wasn't the original tiles! We are more than satisfied with the service they provided, the price they charged for the windows and doors and especially the installation team. The company and the installers went above and beyond and have earned my business in the future. We plan on having more windows and doors replaced, and will definitely be using Florida Solar and Air for all of our window and door needs!

The installation of my windows and doors went very smoothly. The crew showed up around 9am 2/16/16 to begin the installation process and they were done by 6:30pm. I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently they replaced 9 windows and 3 doors I thought it was going to take at least 2 days. The men made sure to cover my furniture and put down floor coverings they were professional, courteous, and made sure they cleaned up before they left. I am waiting for the final inspection which I'm sure will be fine. My windows and doors look beautiful! I am a very happy customer :)

After some research and getting a couple of quotes from other companies, we elected to go with FL Solar and Air based on Angie's List reviews. Good interaction with the company initially, professional and helpful. Based on other quotes, the price was fair; not the cheapest but definitely not the most costly. The day of the installation, everything fell apart. The installers were nice but the installation itself was EXTREMELY bad. In fact, they even left without finishing the job! It was unbelievable. So I took about 40 pictures to show to their management. Here's the list of the "damages"....... 1) We didn't receive the correct windows. We ordered "no grids", they came with grids. They said that it's cosmetic and they can be removed. Unfortunately, we went along. Result: Some of the windows have dents in the frames and the glue on the glass was not totally removed. 2) We had amended the contract in writing to have the casement windows come in frosted glass, we received clear glass. 3) The master bathroom window was installed in the guest bathroom. The dimensions are different; the installer had to force the installation of that window in the guest bathroom. He broke a couple of tiles. We now have a window in the master bathroom that is slightly too small. 4) The caulking/sealing around the sliding doors was poorly done. Cement was missing. We could actually see the wood exposed inside the wall (where the door frame is secured)! 5) They left in a hurry for another job leaving all the debris inside the house. I wish we could post pictures on Angies's List because they would speak for themselves. I sent an email to the company (which was acknowledged) detailing how the job was done. They had their money. No one contacted us back to fix the issues. During the city inspection (which did NOT pass), one of their workers had to be there. I was so upset that I picked up the phone to have a manager call me. Tim Gallivan called me back. I had sent the email May 12, he finally contacted me the following month! To this day, the situation is still not resolved.

We met with the salesperson who actually arrived early and called prior to arriving to ensure that it was ok with us if she could arrive "early". I was amazed and very impressed with this. Additionally, one thing that I was very impressed with was the salesperson's binder which included copies of their general liability policy, workmen's comp policy, licenses and additional materials related to the work. Speaking with Erica the salesperson and Alex, the operations manager, we were able to negotiate on a fair price for replacing all windows in my new home. They were very generous and open to our requests and negotiations. More so, Alex called me a few days later to advise of a promotion that began the day after we entered into contract with them for a free upgrade to the premier quality windows and offered the promotion to us even though it began after we were under contract. Additionally, the company's installers scheduled to do the final measurements advised that they would be at the house at 10:00 am and were there by 9:45 am. Again, prompt and attentive service. I was unable to be their and their installer even came to my office in order for me to sign the necessary permit applications. Thus far, we have had nothing but the best of impression of Florida Solar & Air and if their level of service thus far is an example of what is to come, we would highly recommend them. Very Impressed and that is not something that I often say about contractors.

It was a great experience. The staff as a whole was very professional and responsive. Alex came in and did an analysis of my home ultimately making a recommendation. I got the feeling of complete honesty and him not recommending unnecessary things. The price was competitive and I have no complaints about that. The staff they sent was wonderful. The guys were very on schedule, accommodating, friendly and I felt they would go the extra mile if necessary. It was a great experience all around.

Dear [Member Name], I'm sorry that you are disappointed in the Service. We did your entire Home for Windows and Air conditioning. If you would please go back to your contract, You will see that it was clearly noted and defined that we do not do service Calls in The Florida Keys. I'm sorry, But it is too far out of our Area. As I explained to you when you purchased the windows, I offered to INSTALL ONLY the air conditioners at cost as a way to help because you were having a hard time finding an ac company in the Florida Keys. As far as Carrier and being an account, Not only are we an account, but we are listed in their top 3%, Nate certification and Super service awards. We actually have the highest rating that Carrier/Bryant give their dealers. Feel free to contact me directly and I will be glad to put you in contact with the manufacturer. I'm sorry that you cant find anyone to service a mini split system in the Florida Keys. If you would like to contact me I will be glad to contact carrier and get some dealers in that area.

I obtained 5 quotes on this job. It was a larger and somewhat labor intensive job for an older home I purchased. The home and HVAC system had been neglected and not operational for several years prior to the replacement. I obtained quotes from the big home improvement stores as well as some of the companies who regularly advertise on the Radio. I was referred by Florida Solar and Air by a friend who had successfully used them in the past. They were the best value by far! Cheaper then all the big home improvement stores and on par with all the other majors. What sold me on their service was the attention to detail, and the fact that they were the only one to use proper measuring and airflow calculations for my needs. I had read on many forums on what to look for in a contractor and they were the only company to do my proper calculations and point out several overlooked issues that would have cost me big down the road. Yes, they were 5 -10% higher then the super cheap weekly flyer guys but I felt it was a fair trade and super value for the extras they did that those cheaper guys didn't. My best advice to someone looking for HVAC service is to obtain several quotes, pay close attention on what they do when they inspect, and use your best judgement on whether the company will be around in 10 years to back all those promises many companies make. It's now been 2 years and I couldn't be happier! Our electric bill is lower than our neighbors, my wife suffers from severe allergies but not in our house, and Florida Solar and Airs follow up has been outstanding. They were out to inspect after install, for Free 1 year later, and now again 2 years later. I waited 2 years to leave this review since many reviews I had read prior to making my decision did not account for the longevity of the project.

We met with 3 vendors and really connected with Florida Solar and Air's sales rep who was very nice. The price was not much cheaper than the others we had met with and we gave them the business. The windows were delivered and installed on time after a minor scheduling mix-up but it was all done. Then we had to pass inspection. The installers are not FS & A employees. The project manager said they would be there for inspection and he wasn't. We passed, no problem. Then came the follow-up nightmare that took close to a year of complaining to have resolved. The installers broke the marble slab on 1 of my windows, my front picture window no less. I called them to replace the marble and to install the screw covers that were the wrong size on the day of delivery. I kept calling the project manager on his cell phone. He would promise to come out and would never make it or send the installers and they never came. After 2-3 phone calls and complaints, I was tired of the nonsense. I called the office. I had the same song and dance from the same salesperson that we bougth the windows from. They have horrible follow-up. They need better customer service. I will not be using them for the rest of my house.

Dear (member name removed), My name is Alexander Mustelier and I am the operations manager for Florida Solar and air. I am very sorry for the delay you experienced handling your complaint. We have a strict policy of our field reps not giving out their personal phone numbers because as well intentioned as that may be, sometimes the client will not be handled as quickly as is ideal. I like to think that when clients reach the office we have procedures in place to make sure the client is handled in a timely manner. As far as the installers, I assure you all of our installers are FSA employees. Its something we brag about because it is very unique in our industry. The only time that you will see a non employee is if its for something on the project that we don't normally do but need to take care of to appease a client, And again, we are forthright about that as well. I am very sorry that you were not treated to your expectations or mine. If there's anything I can do to re establish your trust in my company please let me know and I will personally make sure its handled.

We first used this installer for our new home, a high rise condominium. We selected them because they were distributors for Carrier, a manufacturer of QUIET units. The installation went smoothly. Our problems began with the replacement of an AC unit in a rental apartment. The company's installer (technician) tried to take the business on the side. We felt very uncomfortable telling him 'no' as he was high pressure. It was before the Christmas holiday and we didn't want to get him fired by telling his supervison, yet we lost trust in him. It became more awkward when he reversed the hoses and the unit didn't work properly. We called the company and said we wanted a different technician, but they sent the same one. When he came to reverse the hoses he didn't tighten a hose properly and shortly after he left, the hose popped off and sprayed water over the floors and wall. The company came and fixed the hose and repainted the walls that now had water marks on them. Our tenants had to toss out some items that were ruined by water. I used the company one more time, thinking the second installation was a fluke, for a third AC replacement in an upscale rental unit. This installation also became complicated with a shorting-out of a low voltage wire that runs from the thermostat to the outside compressor. I suspected that their technician caused the short. The company said it was not their fault and that the short caused the unit to go bad. I was left with a new AC that didn't work. My tenants were without AC for several days until I was able to hire an electrician to install a new wire about $450 on top of the unit installation ($3,200). As much as I like the Carrier AC units, because they're quiet, I have lost trust in this installation company and their selection of technicians.

It was good. They are one of the three companies we are looking for quotes; however we did not go with them because of the cost factor. They were one or two of the highest quotes that we received. They did everything correctly. They were in line with the other companies but it came down to the cost factor in the end. It was a good experience with them.

I submitted an online request for an impact window replacement project. I then received numerous phone calls from the company. I was trying to put my infant daughter down for a nap and the phone was ringing off the hook. They would call, hang up on my voicemail, and instantly call again. After the 4th consecutive call I answered and told the agent I was no longer interested. I received more calls later and I told the agent that I wasn't interested anymore because I was basically being harrased by all their phone calls. The agent told me in quite an unfriendly tone, that when I submitted my phone number to them on line I made it accessible for these calls. They still continue to call, despite my telling 2 additional agents that I am not interested. I have so far received 8 phone calls and an email since I submitted the inquiry less than 48 hours ago.
Description of Work: They responded to my inquiry about Impact Window installation.

Response from Florida Solar & Air
Dear (Member name removed), My Name is Alex Mustelier and im the operations manager here at Florida Solar and Air. Im terribly sorry for the multiple phone calls that you received. Sometimes our appointment setters can be overzealous in their attempts to book appointments. (Specially at the end of the month when promotions are ending) I removed you personally from the call list when I received your first email, and checked again to make sure you were not put back in by mistake. Again, im sorry for the inconvenience. If there's anything I can do to help alleviate the situation or address any other concerns, feel free to reach out to me personally

Job included low-e impact glass. Inside surface of outer pane was supposed to be tinted to match condo regulations (and to ensure that no damage would be done to the film by cleaners as the film was supposed to be in between the two panes of glass and not on the outside surface of the interior pane of glass). There were some communication issues that had been resolved subsequent to my first review of the company. The floor to ceiling doors and picture window have now been tinted with ceramic tint, 40% light transmission and look great. As this was the only complaint with the windows to begin with, I would reconsider Florida Solar and Air to complete the job next year. As in all aspects of life, communication is always a make or break issue. In my situation, the lack of communication served as a magnifying glass for other issues that were apparently routine but never communicated. As was originally explained to me by my salesman Joe, the company has stood by their work months after the job was completely paid for. I am thankful that everything is now resolved and as in my initial review, the quality of the work was fantastic. I'm just going to chalk things up to experience and like I mentioned above, I am willing to give them a second chance on the remaining 3 rooms with 4 banks of floor to ceiling windows in them. The owner of the company was very responsive to my concerns and there were positive changes made in my case with regards to customer relations. This was the second "job" that I did with Florida Solar and Air based on Angie's List recommendation. I'd give FSA a B+ for problem resolution.

Our pool area is not only shaded but screened in and our pool being large would rarely be used because the water was too cold for our comfort. We were more than pleased with the warmed water in our pool and our guest rarely complained. On the contrarily they seemed pleasantly surprised that the water was warm and relaxing. I highly recommend this company not only have they been around for a long time but they are extremely reliable and responsible whenever you have questions.
Description of Work: I truly do not remember the exact price of heating pool. But we did it twice because of having to replace the roof. there were excellent both times.
