I used them 4 or 5 weeks ago. My sprinkler system wasn't working. The guy came out and within ten minutes he knew what the problem was.

I got a coupon to have the automatic water checked. I told him that I had a leak and I needed that repaired so he went around the yard and he came back and told me I had 5 sprinklers that were busted. I had just had all my sprinklers checked and replaced 3 months prior so I really doubted that. He never told me anything about the leak where my water bill had gone way up and he said he didn't have anything with him to fix the broken sprinklers but it would cost $150.00 additional. I basically got nothing for the $42.50 that I spent for the coupon. I also told him I wanted an estimate on taking care of the yard so I called them and no one ever called me back. I got a slip back and I not sure if I got it in email or in the regular mail for the sprinkler system and their technician charges $75.00 an hour. They never gave an estimate for the yard, I was not convinced that what he found was really broken, and what I wanted was for him to tell me how much it would be to repair the leak and he did not do that. I would not recommend them to anyone. The only thing that he did was he reset my automatic water and that should not have cost the $42.50. He did come when he was supposed to. He did not show me where the damaged ones were as he was just interested in leaving quickly.

He checked and tested all sprinkler heads and fixed a broken sprinkler head. He was very proficient at his job and a very nice young man.

It was a very pleasant experience. I didn't need to follow him around and he let me know the status of all zones and helped me understand the maintenance involved in having in-ground sprinklers, since I never had them before. Overall, he was very pleasant and helpful.

This company is also called Active Environmental per the receipt we received. We first purchased a "Full Sprinkler Tune Up" for $42.50 with a $10 discount via Angie's List. The technician that provided the tune-up service charged an additional $11.95 for a sprinkler head repair. He did not address another sprinkler which was broken (which we discovered immediately following his visit). Furthermore, we requested an estimate to locate the reason for 2 non-working zones in the system. The "estimate" provided to us did not provide a fixed dollar amount, but instead an hourly fee of $130 for the first 2 hours + $45 for the use of a "tracer" device + ? parts + $65 for an indeterminate number of additional hours to locate the problem which they said was a broken wire underground. Again an estimate of the approximate total number of hours required was not specified. No guarantee was provided that the trouble would ever be located. We nevertheless gave them the benefit of the doubt and authorized the first 2 hours of this "service" and the use of the "tracer" device. Every time we checked on the technician, he was walking around, talking on his phone, and poking the dirt with a pointed tool. He never dug into the ground. He didn't bring out the "tracer" device until 1 hour into his visit and only when we asked him about it. After 1.5 hours, he approached us to let us know he was leaving with only having located a buried valve box which was marked on the property plan we provided to him. He said it was in proper working order (note: we later discovered it was broken). We brought to his attention there were 30 minutes of service still remaining. He proceeded to walk around with the device for 30 minutes. He then collected payment from us. He told us there was probably a broken wire somewhere within a 15' area, however he said, the uncertainty could result in days of digging all over the yard at a rate $65 per hour and without guarantee. We asked him to mark the 15' line where he believed there was a problem. He did and then left. Within the following days, we spent many hours digging along the line he marked to locate the trouble and found nothing. We cautiously contacted another company. The new company was honest and very courteous, and provided a fixed estimate with the promise that if the problem was not found and resolved we would pay nothing. The problem was located and resolved and additional repairs were made for the agreed upon amount and very professionally. It turned out there was no problem whatsoever within the area the previous company marked out.

Todd arrived promptly and serviced my sprinkler system offering excellent advice and giving me time to make my own decisions about which updates to make now and which to postpone. The work was quality, the information timely and Todd was professional and courteous. I would use them again

It mostly okay. He replaced the leaking and a little while later I found another one leaking and he didn't catch that one leaking. They got here pretty quick.

The provider was prompt and repaired two damaged sprinkler heads. It cost an additional $20.

This was part of a group coupon; I have to say I half expected a bait & switch, but the guy was great, everything that needed fixing had an upcharge of $5-10. Would definitely recommend to others

Went ok. I asked questions about the dryness of lawn on several spots, gave suggestions and possible cost.

We contracted with this company in June after reading the reviews on this site. After the first week, we complained the lawn was very uneven. We were ensured that the lawn would even out we just needed to give it a few weeks. My yard is very small and their large machines did not fit in all the areas of my fenced in yard so they mowed the grass with a weed trimmer the first few weeks. We had a hard cut of our back bushes the first week. The company also used a weed trimmer to do this. Edging, weeding and pruning did happen the first week. After that the lawn maintenance just went downhill. Many weeks passed with no weeding and no pruning done. Even trimming around my fence did not get done on a weekly basis. Just my lawn was mowed every week which was still very uneven. I guess I should have complained to the company more but did send an email and a few phone calls to Shari but lawn work did not improve. We cancelled on August 28 but since you have to give 30 days notice we still had to have them come out. Since then it has been the worst. Absolutely nothing was done except mowing and edging of the front yard. On September 17, I sent an email to Shari expressing my absolute disgust with my last cut and asked them to not return to my property. I will admit I forgot to move the trash cans from my side yard so they did not cut it but my wife was home so they could have knocked for her to move them or if they pushed the door hard enough it would have opened. I received no response to my email, not even an apology and this morning I received my final bill which includes a bill for this week which I'm not even having them come out for. After such horrible service and only half a yard cut last week, I shouldn't even be charge for last week let alone this week. I have a second ornamental fence that cuts my one side yard in half and the front side is used for my dogs. When they first started coming out, they would cut the front half and then walk around the back yard to cut the second half. In July, they started to just take apart my side fence to get their equipment back there and never replaced it. The whole point of this fence is to keep the dogs contained to one part of the yard for their safety. Then in August they broke the guard off my gate door which was also installed to keep the dogs in the fence. They never told anyone; my wife found it when she went to walk the dogs. I included this in my last email but still nothing from the company but my final bill. Once I figure out how to post pictures, I will post what my yard looked like last Thursday, minutes after they left. UPDATE after company response: I hired this company after moving from PA and yes we really needed the help as we moved in. They were more than happy to assist with our needs even after discussing that it may be temporary and they came out to provide an estimate. They should not have accepted the job if our yard was too small for their equipment. We cancelled the service not because the "growing" season was over but our growing displeasure of the service. I was well aware of the 30 day cancellation policy. In response to the blocked gate... I guess knocking on the door to ask us to move the trash can was too inconvenient. We were home that day. The pictures taken were not only from the backyard. All of the flower beds were never touched and were not due to the blocked gate. Forgive me if I am mistaken, but I thought our contract included lawn maintenance, hedge trimming and weeding. I just don't understand how a company feels that they are always right and customers just like to complain. It seems like every negative review on AL is responded to with excuses and no acknowledgment of fault or apology. I am not typically someone who even writes reviews let alone bad ones. I just hope that you take the opportunity to learn from our displeasure and improve your service.

Technician very friendly and helpful, answering my qeustions. Had a controller that was easier for me to read and installed it. Set it for me and showed me how to use it. Very satisfied with this company and would recommend it.

They were on-time for appointment, than immediately went to work. They described clearly what they found included the aforementioned "leak." While they were quick and efficient, i feel they were also effective.

The service technician was on time, called to let me know he had arrived, and was given access to the garage where our sprinkler timer was. He quickly identified that our timer box was no longer working (it was really old), and quoted me the price of replacing it with a new one. The work was done in just an hour, and now we have a gorgeous Rain Bird timer box with its own built in surge protector. which he programmed for each zone and left us the instruction manual.

The provider came to do annual maintenance per a special on Angie's List. I hadn't used the system since the previous summer when the system became locked on one zone. This was about a month after Active did the same service last year. Half way through the maintenance the technician told me that I needed to replace my indexing valve and he didn't have one on the truck. He promised they would give me an estimate for the part and labor and then finish the maintenance after the repair. The technician left the system wide open rather than shut off the water valve going to it and I was surprised weeks later with a water bill for $271. It turns out the broken sprinkler heads were spitting water over portions of the yard in the middle of the night. Once I shut the valve off myself the problem ended. Rather than take responsibility they ran through their script of excuses. How were they to know I didn't have a unrelated leak? I can show the water usage before and after their attempt at service, but they aren't interested. They want to do $180 repair and then re-evaluate whether there are other problems. They didn't even offer me free labor on the repair. In fact, they tried to make it my fault because I didn't immediately approve their charging me another $180. As a consumer who was looking for Active to solve my problems I wasn't expecting a bigger problem. If they tinker with a system and not finish the work they should have shut off the water before getting in the truck and making the next stop. After buying the deal it took more than two weeks for a visit so it's obvious they are too overworked to pay attention to detail or care if they make mistakes. They get an A rating on here because sprinkler system repairs are generally straightforward, but if you have an unusual problem they won't be prepared for it. If they cause a problem it's your problem, not theirs.
