Description of Work: Fixed underground wires that had been cut and replace a rotor on one of the sprinkler heads.

Description of Work: The company emailed me a very low estimate. They never came out to see the propery. Everything was estimated based on an aerial view of the property that they found on the internet. There estimate said they did not include spraying for weeds or pest in the yard. When I asked why not and how much more would it cost? They said it was because my lawn had too many weeds and needed new sod. I had just sodded the entire lawn 2 weeks earlier. I told them that they must be looking at someone elses lawn. They then said that their estimate would include weed killer for free. I obviously did not hire this unproffesional company.

Description of Work: Checked over the sprinkler system. Found a couple of sprinkler heads that weren't working and I had him replace them.

Description of Work: I originally purchased the sprinkler tune-up package from Active at a outstaning price of $35.00. The representative was friendly, responsive and educated me on how to properly set my sprinklers to conserve water but went the extra mile and replaced a few of my heads that had been damaged by my lawn crew. At that time I was using a large commercial company for my lawn maintenance and was having to constantly call them to get service completed properly and to repair damage their workman did to my lawn. It was then I asked Active if they provided lawn maintenance and requested a quote. I was delighted when Active's quote was considerably lower than the commercial company I was using, so I gave them a try. They have done a wonderful job, my lawn and shrubs now look like they are professionally maintained. I have only had to meet with my service crew once to explain what I liked and they have been dedicated and focused on providing the services as discussed. The administrative staff is also top knotch, they respond to request almost immediately and their invoices are always accurate and arrive on time. This is a great little company that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a sprinkler/lawn maintenance company whose pride in workmanship shows in your lawn. But best of all, I haven't found any company that can match their prices for the quality of work they deliver. I am a very happy Active customer!

Description of Work: I bought the deal of the day and it more than lived up to my expectations. The owner evaluated my sprinkler system and made adjustments. For $20 he replaced a few damaged sprinkler heads. I called them back and had them move a few sprinkers. Very nice, reasonably priced and the work was great.

Description of Work: Never adjusted heads. Turned on 1 zone. Said I needed a part that was sticking, but never got back to me. Said I needed a new valve, but then noticed a shutoff was closed. Not professional at all but very courteous.

Description of Work: The technician arrived an hour before scheduled time. He did not have on a name tag, nor did he introduce himself by name, He did have a shirt on with the company logo. I thought it very unprofessional of him not to introduce himself by name. I showed him where all the sprinklers were in addition to the controls for each section [3 sections] plus a soaker system around the perimeter of the house. He turned all the sections on - individually - however - he did not adjust nor clean any of the sprinker heads. When I asked him to turn on the soaker system and clean it - he advised that he didn't have time to do that as it would take more than an hour. He installed one sprinkler head [ at my request ] at a location I had capped off. This took him about 15 minutes. In view of the fact that I had recently had a new control box installed for the 3 sections and wired for a timer system - I inquired as to what the cost would be to install a timer - - he gave me a '"ball park" figure but gave me no written estimate. I did receive an estimate via email from the office the next day. I was extremely disappointed with the service as "Angie's List" indicated that all sprinkler heads would be cleaned and adjusted to ensure proper coverage, as did the on line site of Active Lawn Care and Landscaping. My conclusion: I wasted $35.00 for a service that Angie's List claims is a $90.00 value - when Active Lawn Care and Landscaping offers the same service for much less on their web site. The only interest Active Lawn Care and Landscaping has is to visit your property and sell you a "bill of goods". Had I not been watching the technician's every move - only God knows what he might have done to "disrupt" a sprinker. I will definitely not use Active Lawn Care and Landscaping and have lost some faith in "Angie's List"! Buyer Beware!

Description of Work: I was very pleased with this service. Randy from Active Lawn Service initially came out to my home on July 26, 2012 to inspect the problems with my old irrigation system. He cited some problems I was already aware of and discovered some new ones. For instance, my irrigation system would come on when it was raining; Randy discovered the rain gauge needed to be adjusted and solved this problem. He also discovered some broken sprinkler heads that I was not aware of. (A year earlier, I had another service come out for irrigation repair; they charged me more but missed the problems Randy discovered.) I will definitely call upon Active Lawn for any future irrigation system improvements.

Description of Work: It is a gimmick to get their foot in your yard and then trying to nail you with more expensive work. I was told I needed to replace heads and nozzles when I just needed the nozzles cleaned. My neighbor did it for a bottle of Crown Royal ($17 at BJ's). I paid for a lesson in not to trust Angie's list. That is why I cancelling my membership today.

Description of Work: Technician came to house, did full tune-up of irrigation system, advised as to changes needed because of screen enclosre install, provided estimate for work recommended, and took the time necessary to answer all my questions. Prompt, thorough, pleasant, and professional. Could not have wished for more. Angie's List deal was very reasonable and estimate for recommended work was also reasonable even though I chose to do that work myself.

Description of Work: They came and performed a full sprinkler check and tune-up as advertised. They cleaned the sprinkler heads, got them pointed in the right direction and adjusted the flow so we weren't watering the street anymore. While they were here, we asked them to cap a head we no longer needed. They quickly did and also repaired a separate head that another company had installed incorrectly at no additional charge. Technician was prompt, professional and polite. He even offered to reprogram the system for us as it needed to be reset after he had worked on it. We will definitely use them again!

Description of Work: It was the day after Hurricane Isaac. I had an appointment at 900. They contacted us at 800 and explained due to the mess Isaac left in some of their other customers areas that they were not sure if they were able to keep their appointment. we thank them for calling and they stated they would contact with us to reschdule. A couple hours latter they called and stated that they could like to come out. When they arrived at the home they looked at our sprinkler system and explained what kind we had. ( just bought a foreclosure and did not have any info about the house.) They were VERY nice and professional. We had some dead spots in the lawn and they explained why we had those. They took there time and answered all our silly questions. After they were done, They promptly emailed me a estimate to repair my sprinkler system.

Description of Work: They did did a very good job on my sprinkler tune-up. They went over everything with me step by step so I wouldn't have any problems in the future. I will definitely call them every year to make sure it works well. I even thought I needed a new head for one of the zones, but the manager doing the tune- up said he could sell me a new one for $30.00 but he really didn't think it needed it. Just A great over all job!

Description of Work: For the price the advice and service was fine. A cancelled appointment was rescheduled. The service itself was just not all I expected it to be. But as I said the price was just $35 and this covered a cursory inspection of the system.

Description of Work: Price includes the original service call. Active replaced one of my large sprinkler heads and check everything through the property. They are super courteous and just good people. I will only use these folks from now on
