They showed up and began doing the work. I was extremely outspoken about a drainage pipe I installed two year prior. I showed them where it was so they would not dig and break it. One of the trees was going in about 6 inches from where the pipe was buried. When I came outside, the hole and tree were already dug and put in. I made the statement "you didn't cut my drainage pipe did you? John (owner) sounded offended and said "I've been doing this for 18 years..." and then trailed off... Everything went fine that day, all of the trees were put in satisfactorily. I then had a sprinkler system team come in. I showed them the pipe too and when I stepped up on the fence to show them where the pipe came out (so they could follow it back to the house and know where it was) I saw pieces of the pipe on the other side of the fence. Of course I was very suspicious - no one had dug back there since I put the pipe in. So I started digging around the tree and pipe - the dirt was very loose thanks to John 2 weeks earlier. The bottom line is that I uncovered the pipe and the peices of pipe I found on the other side of the fence fit like a puzzle in the smashed pipe next to the tree. Since there was some heavy rain storms on their way, I fixed the break right then and there using a flexible pipe I had. I then called Deb (Johns wife) to let her know what I found. She said there was no way her guys would have done that but she would talk to her husband. She called me back the foloowing day and said her husband (John) said they did not do that. I explained to her again that NO ONE has dug in my yard since I put the pipe in. And that the peices of broken pipe were lying on the other side of the fence (just so you know there is absolutely no way for the pieces to have broke and fallin then washed out the end - because they were well above where the end of the pipe flows into the ditch) and these pieces fit like a puzzle into the broken/buried pipe. She said she would get back with me. She never did. I then learned about Angies List. I emailed John and told him I was getting ready to rate their work on Angies and that it would not be positive. He called me the next day to talk to me about it. I explained to both he and his wife that I didn't want anything from them. The pipe was fixed and all was good. I wanted them to take responsibility for their crew but they would not. What motivation could I possibly have to lie about this. The sprinkler system crew saw that the pipe was busted and they saw the pieces on the other side of the fence. Someone from Casey's busted the knowingly busted the pipe, attempted to hide the fact regardless of the consequences I would have to put up with later when the drain no longer worked. They simply just filled the busted pipe back in with dirt and threw the pieces on the other side of the fence.
Description of Work: Casey's was to plant 8 trees in my back yard in all.
