I honestly CANNOT say enough about Universal Professional Coatings. But, I will try and do the company justice. Let me start by saying, my first impression was "this is too good to be true". The first quote we received was from our contractor for an ABSURD amount. After hearing that quote we almost decided to do it ourselves. But, I decided to look around and get a few quotes "just in case". Well, needless to say after 5 quotes we went with UPC. And, after receiving his low quote we decided to add on the master bedroom. So, I told our contractor the quote (which was exactly 4 times less than our contractor's) we received from UPC and he was immediately suspicious. My contractor called me about every other day with a new issue he had with the price. Either the painter wasn't going to do enough coats, he was going to go way over his time estimate, or the painter wasn't going to caulk any spots that needed it, etc. Well, my contractors BIGGEST worry was that UPC was not going to do a sufficient job with the prep work. Well, after about 20+ hours spent on just the prep work, UPC absolutely proved my contractor wrong. Every light was covered, every fan blade was covered, the windows were done professionally, all switch plates were covered, floors were blanketed, our fireplace was meticulously protected, so on and so forth. On the 6th day, which would have placed UPC one day earlier than was estimated, I looked at the walls and decided they needed another coat. News which, I don't care who you are, must have REALLY upset UPC, but it was taken with a grain of salt and the next day MORE paint was bought, the walls were coated again, and the job was done to perfection. I would recommend UPC to ANYONE needing any kind of painting done. I know if I ever need anything else painted I will be giving them a call. I also recommended my contractors use UPC :) I told Brian of UPC that we have no problem having people stop by our place to check out his work. Or, feel free to ask for before and after pictures.
Description of Work: My husband and I had a HUGE job that we needed done. I cannot imagine an interior paint job being any more difficult than what we needed. We needed to have our vaulted ceilings painted, as well as our living, dining, kitchen, and hallway as well as any and all trim, doors, baseboards, and molding in said areas . Now, the ceiling alone seemed like a daunting task. It needed to be cleaned, the lights and fans needed to be protected and all the flooring benieth needed to be protected.

The house was pressure-washed, and carefully prepped, caulked and primed before painting was started. All work was done with careful attention to detail; even the house numbers were removed and freshly painted. This was definitely not a "get the work done quickly" job; it was done with competence and experience, with a view to doing high quality work. The painting was flawless, and needed repairs were done skillfully. We were more than pleased with the promptness, thoroughness, neatness and excellence of the entire process. Our house looks like a new house! We would highly recommend this company. As a side note, there was no loud music, nor a single off-color word; and the painter was unfailingly professional, prompt, friendly and courteous.
Description of Work: Our 25-year old two-story house needed extensive prepping, caulking, priming, and painting (the work was many years overdue, so it involved much more than a simple re-paint job). The chimney needed some repair and rust preventive treatment; the roof needed some minor repair work, which the painter discovered and repaired; the gutters needed some repair and painting; and some tree branches had to be trimmed away from the house in order to have clear access for painting. We needed a little indoor painting of closet doors as well. The company also agreed to do some handyman work, which was outside of the original painting contract, and the cost for those jobs was separate. Those jobs included repair of our washer which was not draining after the rinse cycle; and a complex re-routing and replacement of some damaged dryer ductwork. This was done with ingenuity, in a way that saved us a fair amount of money because it avoided an invasive tearing apart of our ceiling to get at the ductwork (which is what had been recommended to us by another company). The varied and inventive handyman talents we benefited from were a great bonus!
