Chimney Keeper

Company came to my home, informed me they couldn't do the work b/c my chimney was in too poor of condition. Getting a refund on the deal.

The big deal turned out alright. There was nothing special. I think they rushed throught the chimney sweep just to get a bigger job of repairing. I had to ask them to go back and do some more cleaning. It seemed like they were more interested in giving the estimate for a bigger job. The job was expected. They were nice and courteous. I wouldn't recommend them or not recommend them.

I used a Angie's List deal for this, so I'm not sure what the normal price would be. They showed up on time, and did a good job. There were a couple things that I needed to have repaired and they let me know what those were in detail and how much it would cost, but no high pressure sales, just when I was ready.

Everything went fine with the cleaning but the inspection provided many areas that will need further repairs. They are coming back to install a chimney cap and we will go from there.

We've lived in our home for 15 years without ever using the fireplace--have now decided to give it a try. Called this company for an inspection and cleaning. They sent 3 people, did the inspection, and said the fireplace was fine--and no cleaning needed. Did find a place where the roofers had left an unsealed area, and sealed that for us. Instead of the quoted $150 price, they charged us 95. And they provided us with tips on the grating and the flue too. Very nice--we will use them again--including for dryer vent cleaning.

I expected the chimney to be cleaned more thoroughly. I also expected a written estimate of any repairs that my chimney needed.

They were booked for almost 2 weeks and I wish I could have gotten in sooner. They did say one price then changed it up on me, and I had to bring up an old email of the price they quoted me in the first place.

Couldn't set an appt because he never called me back.

Experience was good, the only negative was that it took about a month to get contacted and set up an appointment. Nick and his partner were excellent. Courteous, professional, and timely.

From the moment I contacted Chimney Keepers to take advantage of the Big Deal, the atmosphere was one of courtesy and cooperation. The planner/phone contact was unbelievably pleasant, and accommodated me kindly when I called back with more questions. As for the actual visit to our home, everything went as planned. An advance telephone call was placed to us so we knew when to expect them. The workers were pleasant and professional. One of the owners was on-site to supervise the work and advised us about the fire walls and floor. While we enjoyed having them here, our conversations remained at a minimum, and everyone was just great to work with. Special care was given to leaving no debris and dirt behind. With the depths of fall coming, I can recommend Chimney Keepers unequivocally as the go-to company for fireplace/chimney cleaning needs.

They arrived on time and were here about 30-45 minutes. see above for what they did. I almost fell over when he told me how much $5000 to replace the internal parts of the chimney. He said he could not do the cleaning because the chimney was nt safe. He said he would only charge me $75 and I WOULD GET a refund. I called them ( chimney Keepers) for the refund and they said they have to wait for ANGIE S LIST to refund me the $24. and so here I sit waiting for a refund almost a full month out . I had to call them several TIMES because they said there was a problem with their mailman. I expected to receive a check that was not signed. I already called someone at Angie's list and submitted a review as well as a complaint and now I get an email asking me for the very same thing. Re thinking my subscription to Angie's list at this point if all this is gonna be is finger pointing. Angieslist collects the fee and then splits the proceeds with chimney keeper. I finally received a refund check from chimney keeper but Angie's list did absolutely nothing to get a refund for me except send me empty emails that say I have to wait for the provider.

The service worked out very well. They cleaned both the inside and outside of the chimney. They were quick to respond and they explained everything prior to doing it.

The service was good. They were prompt and did the service I asked them to. I had no complaints.

They were on time, very courteous, very neat, and no indication that they were even there was the case after the left. I mean there was no dirt and it was good.

Professional, courteous, explained details of what he planned to do and what he actually did. Cleaned up work area.

My wife handled most of the interactions: in the end, she felt the work was done competently and honestly, but she felt that it required an absurd amount of effort on her part to see it all through. Granted, it was probably their busiest season (beginning of winter) and then the holidays came along, but it was almost two full months from start to finish on what probably didn't amount to more than one full-day's work. We consider ourselves tolerant, quite aware of the possibility of extenuating circumstances in person's lives that may demand time away from work. Given that the job was eventually done well, and their reputation is quite good, we'll assume that it was just poor expectations management on their part.

Arrived as scheduled. Did a fine job cleaning the fireplace. Gave me a report showing all his findings and recommendations for maintenance.

On time, fast, and knowledgeable.
