The advice I received on size of storage containers was wrong. They were short by half. I had to arrange another day of POD containers delivery, packing and storage. | |They were to pack up 3 mattress sets, 3 flat tv's, and a few lamps. Grossly overpriced for the quality of service. My king mattress was put into 2 boxes that were not sealed. We had to repackage and seal the box. | |They put my items into POD containers anyway they could shove them in. Not taking care of items that should not be turned or have heavy items on top of them. Nothing was tied down to the containers, so the items would not shift. | |The group that showed up on the 2nd day of packing were unprofessional, they did not speak enough English so we could understand each other. The plastic wrap they used on the furniture was black and sticky. Now with the heat in the containers who knows what will happen. | |The office was very friendly, but did not understand my requests. It took several calls before they understood but still there were problems. 12/14 - to update my service. I finally was able to unpack what they had packed. Of the many pieces they handled I asked for special care of 2-3 antique pieces. They used box tape on the back of hand-made wall units, they did not protect the back, they did not use blankets only brown paper and box tape. 2 of my rocking patio chairs were askew and had to be adjusted. When the containers were unloaded we couldn't open 2 of them as the contents had shifted and blocked the doors. This was due to how they were packed (or not packed). Nothing was tied down or packed to prevent the contents from moving. Never use them.

It was a terrible experience. They sent guys who did not speak English to my home. I am not bi-lingual, so this was a big problem. The workers did not understand questions we had, did not follow directions we had for unloading our things. They were nice guys, but they ended up doing a terrible job. The company overcharges, and does not do what they say they will do. They rent their trucks from U-Haul - they don't use their own trucks. They charge for locks. They damaged several things, and would not accept any responsibility for it. They charged me for men that did not come - When the final bill came they charged me for six men when there were only five on the job. They don't use their own warehouse, so if you want things delivered first thing in the morning, they will charge you extra to load the day before, and then charge you to have a "security company" watch their truck at night. I would not let this company move my trash. I have moved at least 12 times using professional moving companies. This company is, BY FAR, the worst I have ever dealt with.

Everything went great.

First person I spoke to left the company before my move date. For several phone calls thereafter I spoke to different people who seemed to think my account was to be handled by someone else. This finally cleared after a few days & I had a single contact person who was often not in but gave me his cell #. But he answered the cell only about 25% of the time - sometimes calling back quickly, sometimes not quickly. He came back to my house for pre-move review and,as we firmed up the task list, I got the impression that the guy who left the company had underbid the job - the price turning out to be higher than I expected but still a good value (I think) for the services performed. Services were performed well by an experienced crew who seemed to have been with the company for many years. Only hitch I remember was that the crew could not finish until my contact person arrived to do a final check out. After the truck was fully loaded I asked when he was going to arrive & was told "in a few minutes" which, when I asked, could mean as long as 20 minutes. About 50 minutes later I told them I had to leave for my appointment but could be back in less than an hour. They asked me to wait for him which I did for another 15 minutes or so. We went over all the papers including a detailed list of each box they had numbered as it went on their truck and there was another small upward price adjustment. I looked for the same guy to come at the delivery but this time it "was unnecessary" for him to be there. I agreed that it was unecessary (just as I felt it had been unnecessary at the pick up) and, upon looking back, I feel his primary mission was to get $ back into the contract that apparantly had been missed by the first rep. As stated above though I felt I had a well handled move at a reasonable price, picked up on time and delivered on time, and this mattered far more than the continuing communication difficulties described above.

This is an "A" company. The coordinator, Andy Garcia, was professional and called to confirm everything. The driver, Mike, was very knowledgeable. I had no damage on anything. They arrived at the time they said they would.

Andy was great in getting the job estimated, scheduled and set up. The moving crew was prompt, friendly, professional and careful with the furniture. Tom's has done large and small moving jobs for me and I've been very pleased with their work.
