I have been wanting to spice up the look of my living room for a while now, it used to look kind of dull. About two weeks ago I was at club Provocateur, a new, upscale night club in South Beach. I immediately noticed the beautiful tin ceilings, which along with the faux finishes of the walls gave the club a really distinguished look. Since the club just opened, I figured that someone of the staff had to know who did the work. After a while I worked my way to the club manager who gave me Monty Smith's phone number. The next day I called Monty, told him about what I wanted and a day later he came to my place for a free estimate. His manners were pleasant, the price he quoted me was very reasonable, so I listened to my gut feeling and gave him the job. Another two days later, as agreed, he came with his equipment and quickly got to work starting to move the furniture out of the way and prepare the area. Shortly afterwards he started to apply the foundation. The paint was already mixed, apparently he created it himself. I guess it was easy for him since I told him that I wanted exactly the same color as the one I saw at the club. Once the base was dry the hard part started. He used several types of brushes and paints in order to get the 3D effect I wanted. Monty is not just a painter he truly is an artist. It took him quite a while to finish the wall, so he had to come back the following day. However I am very greatful he took this seriously, the end result is awesome! Depending from which angle you are looking at the wall, it gets a different structure. It looks really alive and has a lot of depth, Monty took time to explain all of this to me. Once he was done pointing out all the details of his artwork, he quickly wrapped everything up, moved back the furniture and gone he was. I was also amazed by the how clean he worked, there was no dripping and no mess for me to clean up at all. A day later Monty called me back making sure everything was ok, and that is when I promised him to take out a few minutes to write this well deserved referal and upload the pictures taken. I hope my step by step description is not too lengthy.
Description of Work: Monty Smith applied faux finish paint to a large wall in my living room. I had a quite precise idea of what I wanted it to look like. I wanted the same 3-dimensional depth and optical effects that I had seen at club Provocateur in South Beach. He more than lived up to my expectations. The wall looks awesome, and completely changed the whole atmosphere in my living room. He did a great job!
