We did…it’s awful And now we are the mean people and my dogs all of a sudden are to blame for the PET TURF! We spent 19k on this job…and they act as if they knew nothing and it’s a favor to me to even come out and look!

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MONSTERGRASS. Terrible service and communication! I made a 30% deposit. 11 months later they NEVER applied for permits or began this job. After countless calls and texts to Fernando Crespo following up for status updates, the man had the audacity to yell at me. When I requested a refund, he flat out said “NO REFUND”. They have had my deposit since December 2021 and I have nothing. Fernando refused to give me the contact information to the corporate office. He claims to be the only person I can talk to.

We initially had turf installed in our yard and warned the installers not to cover up the rainwater drain spouts diverting rainwater away from our house. Despite that, they paved over the drain covers and promised it would not cause a problem. Needless to say, it definitely was a problem and caused significant erosion of the sand / soil beneath the turf. After many phone calls and e-mails, they reluctantly came back to cut a hole for the drain spouts and leveled the turf. However, they did not reinforce the areas around the fence despite our warnings that the sand would again easily erode away from under the fence and the damage at this point is significant. The erosion is such now that there is a 6-inch divot in the ground and causing damage to our neighbors yard. In addition, the large retaining nails to keep the turf in place are exposed and a hazard to our children playing in the yard. We have e-mailed and called Monstergrass numerous times and have been brushed off every time with false promises to address the problem. At this point, I will likely have to call another company and pay them for the repairs. Their lack of follow-through and integrity should give any potential customer pause.

*** READ TO THE END AND CHECK OUT PICTURES I POSTED*** I hired Monster Grass about two years ago to install turf in two different sections of my house and as of this past June 8th I was still having to deal with them coming back attempting to fix issues they had created during the original installation. Hiring them was by far the worst decision I made regarding a home improvement project. From the first call all the way to the date I gave them payment for the deposit on the first section of the yard, we had no issues. They showed hungriness and urgency to close the deal and were very attentive to my calls and correspondence, then problems started. Responses to my calls, emails and texts got to a holt. Then the installation date for the first section came and a little past noon that same day I got a call telling me the work was completed and if they could pass by the following morning to collect the balance on the job. I was truly pleased and surprised since everything seemed to have gone very smoothly, until I got home. The seams between the sections of turf were extremely noticeable and obvious, the perimeter against the fence and deck was sunken in, among other issues. All in all, I could see that no attention to detail and very little effort was put on to what they had done. After waiting sometime to get an update on when my repairs were going to happen I decided to move forward with the second section of my yard. I figured there would be an incentive for them to come back to do this new area and fix the issues on the other side. This time around I stayed home to supervise, since there is no accountable supervision or work detail at Monster Grass, starting from the owner and the three different "forman / supervisors" that were sent to my home. None of them were respected and had very little knowledge regarding the work they were set to execute, they relayed and blamed everything on their own installers. Besides that they measured this second area wrong and they were short on material, which I had to wait weeks for them to come back to finish it, once the area was completed I was happy with it and I made the mistake of paying them in full without asking them to complete the repairs on the first section. Then, during the following months they attempted to repair the area, several attempts were made, some made no difference, some made it worst (see pictures) no real urgency or interest was shown to the point that the owner would blame it on me, telling his employee I was not the average client and I was demanding excellence, making it sound as though he was doing me a favor by continuing to come to my house in order to do repairs. What they don't get is, I paid what they asked me in full, but for a brand new and professionally installed artificial turf, not for a patched and repaired job since day one, so having to come back over and over to fix the same issues they created consequence of their lack of professionalism, craftsmanship and supervision, is not a favor to me, they should be appreciative they were given the chance to make it right several times. Then on their latest attempt to complete the job this past June 8th, which included tearing up the area of the yard that was good in order to get color matching turf to replace an area of the other side that they had messed up, and then reinstall a different shade of the same turf over the complete area that originally was good. This was my second worst decision on this project, I shouldn't had allowed it, now I have both areas messed up and they disappeared. I've been trying to reach out to them via phone and email and nothing. I have called the owner direct several times and I got notified that he has blocked my number not to get my calls, a clear sign they don't care and have no interest in completing the job properly. This situation forced me to do some research and learning on my own. I contacted others in the trade as well as the turf manufacturer in California, not to my surprise, it had a disappointing outcome. The turf manufacturer reviewed my pictures (SEE PICTURES POSTED) and acknowledged the issues are installation related and they are voided by the warranty. They suggested to reach out back to the installer and have them fix the issues. WARNING, during my research I learned about three ex-Monster Grass clients that had similar issues, going as far as seeking legal action against Monster Grass. Do your homework and educate yourself on the basic knowledge about what you are trying to achieve so you can better detect whether the company you are about to hire is as unprofessional and dishonest such as this one and what all they care about is the next job not the job they already got money for and have to finish it promptly and professionally. Best of luck!
