Mike, your company Mike's Custom Electric Service, Inc. (which to date you have never provided me a copy of your electrician license I requested twice) was hired by me to change out light fixtures in my office. We walked the entire perimeter of my office, outside and inside to determine the scope of the work and based on that you quoted me close to $5,000.00 . I had purchased the light fixtures already and was unsure of how they would look. You advised that you would change only the 6 hallway lights and would wait for my approval. Despite your stating this with my employees present, your staff changed the office lights everywhere with lights that were never approved by me, and which you never waited for me to give the OK. Then you were upset that I did not like them and tried to get me to pay the $2400 for your mistake. You kept complaining about having to drive around town to get the fixture I wanted which was a simple HALO light that is sold everywhere including Home Depot. Tired of hearing you complain, I actually went ahead and bought them for you from amazon and got them delivered the following day by 5 AM. When I asked you to come in the next day to finish the job since I had clients coming in and it was supposed to be a 2-3 day project, you refused. You stated it was Friday and preferred to send your workers elsewhere. I had to wait 4 more days for your workers to then come on Monday and disrupt my office and clients that were scheduled. You said you completed the job and not only left huge amounts of debris and dust everywhere without so merely as sweeping or vacuuming, but worse, the job was so sloppy. You not only tore through my sheetrock in the ceiling, requiring me to hire and pay a second person to come and repair what you did, you left the majority of the lights loose, and dangling. One even fell down and almost hit me on the head. Moreover, the colors are mismatched having left some lights white, some lights yellow. When I sent you the picture of not only this light that fell but all the others that were done incorrectly and not secure to the ceiling, your response was that you were going to show me what was going on. Shouldnt this be addressed at the time you are actually installing the lights? If there is an issue and the light is not going to come out as planned specially if you are charging close to $5,000, shouldnt the customer be told so that they can make a decision if they want to continue or choose another option? And the work outside of changing floodlights was never even started, yet you claimed the work was complete and the outside was merely troubleshooting to see what lights were out. I already knew what lights were out when I hired you. I even repeatedly asked for a copy of your license and insurance and you downright refused to provide it. That alone is cause for concern when you cant even produce your license when asked. All in all, Mike's Custom Electric Service, Inc was the worst decision I made to change the lights at my office. I ended up paying not only for the lights I had to buy myself on Amazon, which were part of his quote, but had to hire another person to come and repair all the sheetrock and the lights that were left loose and dangling, costing me another $600 dollars. I would never recommend Mike Thomas nor his company Mike's Custom Electric Service, Inc. to do any electrical work period.

I had him run a wire from one side of the house to the other and install a 100 amp subpanel (2nd electrical panel inside the house). Because I have no attic, he would have to run in through the existing pipe. This is a difficult job but he is talented and said he would do it. Everything went fine except he showed up to the job and installed a 60 amp breaker instead of a 100 amp breaker. He promised to come back with the right size breaker and still has failed to do so. He hasn’t finished a single one of the six jobs that I’ve hired him to do. In conclusion, I would not hire Mike again to do a job…at any price! Dealing with him is just too frustrating.
Description of Work: He installed a subpanel.

He failed to finish the job by not putting the plastic cover over the wiring. He told me when everything was done he'd come back and finish that. After three prior experience, I decided I would hold $300 back until he came back to put the cover on. It would've taken him maybe ten minutes to come back and complete the job and get his $300. I got the number of one of his workers (whom he had fired) but I hired him to come back and put the cover back on the box.
Description of Work: His job was to install a pool light.

This was a big job. The bathroom was totally gutted. (Walls, floors, pipes, etc). He ran new electric in the ceiling which is only 10" from the room He didn't show up in time to put the metal cover over one of the junction boxes where the wiring was. Now I have exposed wires in my attic. He promised he'd come back and promised he'd be able to access it. He never came back and there is no access to it. Again, he didn't finish the job and I think I have a fire hazard in the attic.
Description of Work: This was a master bathroom remodel.

He put in the wrong size breaker, it was smaller than required because there wasn't enough room in the breaker box becase in 1998 instead of putting the main breaker on this inside he put it on the outside because it was easier than running the line on the inside. That's legal but he didn't leave any room in the panel for expansion therefore no room for the proper breaker for the standby generator. I asked him to relocate the main breaker on the inside and he refuses to do so.
Description of Work: Installed a 30KW 150 amp standby generator.

It didn't go too well. I had a lot of contractors because things have to be done in order. I hired him because he was the low bid. He was the most difficult contractor to work with. He hired his own help to do the work and they were not qualified. He was expanding his business and he would leave the job with no one there to supervise. And again, he didn't finish the job. The second big problem on this job was that I told him exactly where the outlet had to be for the oven and even put an X on the wall. His worker thought he knew better and ignored it and put it in the wrong spot. Mike yelled and screamed (including at me) and refused to move the outlet. I had to have the carpeneter do it.

In 98 I hired Mike to bury my service line. He came out to do the work and he had to dig a hole 36” deep. Instead of getting a small machine, he went to the local rental company. He dug a massive trench in my yard, cracked and damaged my slab while digging the hole and made a mess of my yard. He finished the work but I had to get after him to pay to redo the slab. He made such a mess of the yard, he also promised he would resod the part of the yard that he tore up and never did. He admitted the guy he hired was on heroin at the time.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. THEY ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK WHEN FINISHED IS NOT THAT GOOD. OTHER COMPANIES DON'T CHARGE AS MUCH AND DO A BETTER JOB.
Description of Work: THEY PUT UP A NEW ELECTRIC FENCE AROUND OUR YARD.
