Our 5-year-old KitchenAid refrigerator has a problem with the bottom freezer drawer that keeps freezing over and causing the ice maker to quit working. Apparently, this is a common problem with this particular model refrigerator for which KitchenAid has never issued a recall, (this despite the number of online user forum complaints involving the very same issue). There are a number of recommended fixes online, one of which we had done within a year of purchasing the unit by an authorized repair technician that involved removing the rear panel of the freezer and replacing a drain line. Unfortunately, this only solved the problem temporarily, as the freezer compartment started frosting over within less than a year of the repair. After living with having to defrost the refrigerator every 6 months or so to provide temporary relief of the problem, we decided to try having the refrigerator serviced and hopefully repaired once and for all. We contacted Miami Shores Appliance Repair, wanting to use someone local to our city to do the work. I contacted them twice by phone trying to explain the problem and wanting to know if their technicians were familiar enough with the issue to make the necessary repairs, I was hung up on, not once, but twice by a very rude and unresponsive dispatcher, who, I have to assume was more concerned in billing the automatic diagnostic fee than answering the question. Definitely a company I would steer clear of.
