He came to my house to see what needed to be done, walked me through the various choices, and then provided me a written quote the next day. Were it not for price, I would have chosen him to do the work I needed.

+ 0 moreI had an excellent experience with Longman Electric. I found Longman on Angie's list and called due to their ratings and proximity. I called on day 1, spoke to them and they had an electrician at my door at 8am on day 2. The electrician that came, Armando, was polite, professional, responsive, and spoke both English and Spanish. Armando checked each of the 15 fixtures and he was able to repair and get working almost all of them. In the end he had to purchase only 2 new fixtures for me, and several specialty bulbs. But, by fixing the fixtures I had, he saved me money. I often have problems with service providers in South Florida, but Longman Electric stands out as a first class operation. I have another electrical project coming up and plan to use them again. I rate their service as "outstanding".
Description of Work: We have a large home with a lot of light fixtures. Several had stopped working. I wanted an electrician to come by and check the fixtures that were not working - I already knew it was not the bulbs. I asked that they repair those that could be repaired and replace those that could not be repaired. I think I had about 15 fixtures that I was having problems with. I also had some fluorescent bulbs at a high ceiling that needed to be replaced.

+ -1 moreI e-mailed the owner Michael Longman from Longman Electric to meet me at my property to quote a job. Mr. Longman responded right away but politely inquired a couple of times as to exactly what I needed a quote on (I suppose in an attempt to save a trip to my property). I made his job easy by attaching and e-mailing a property inspection report with color photos and descriptions, etc. He then identified what the problem was and told me he would quote me on that job (even though I was hoping he could meet me at the property and go over it so I get more insight as to what the repair entailed and why it would cost what it would). I never heard back. That was February 15. Guess he saved himself a trip and a quote but lost a ready, willing and able customer. I ended up paying another electrician $2,400 to do the job. Opportunity knocks I suppose you just have to know when to open the door.

He ran an electric connection by my request for the sprinkler system, and repaired 2 GFI in the exterior of the house. Armando was the electrician, very polite, attentive and clean. I can only say good things.

+ 0 moreI recommend these guys. This is the second time we've used them, the first time was to install two ceiling fans and fix an outlet. The electricians that came were nice, cared about doing a good job, were careful, and cleaned up afterwards. We;ve had the lights for a week and they seem to work as advertised. I would use them again but have just one complaint--it took a lot of follow up to get Mike (the guy that came out for estimate) to finalize an estimate and lineup the electricians. It finally got done when I told them that although I wanted to use them, they had to tell me if they were just too busy so I could go out and find another company. That got things rolling but it shouldn't get to that.
Description of Work: Two guys, Jose and another guy whose name I forget, installed a security light in the side yard, a flood light in the back yard and an exterior outlet. This required them to run wiring in the attic.

+ 0 moreAs a new member, this was my first time using a provider through Angie's List. Michael was very responsive. He answered his phone each time I called to finalize arrangements for the repair. He even answered emails I sent through Angie's List. It was a relief not to feel that I had to chase after someone in order to get a job done. I first contacted Longman Electric on a Friday, and the job was done the following Friday. The electrician arrived on time, did a great job, and for a fair price. Judging from this experience, I am very much looking forward to using Angie's List for any future work I need to have done!

+ -1 moreThe work was fine and professionally done, and the price was reasonable, it was just very difficult to get somebody to come out and give an estimate and do the work. The guy giving the estimate was late because he took another job up in Ft. Lauderdale at the same time he was supposed to be at my place. That was after being very late a time before, leaving to the then-homeowner leaving because, in his words, "he couldn't sit around all day waiting". Then, it took a long time for Longman to get around to doing the work, which was very stressful because without the work done, the purchase couldn't close. The only time they seemed to pay attention to me was after they sent me the invoice - they called a couple days later asking when I was going to pay.
Description of Work: Longman replaced a stretch of cloth wiring so that the house could pass 4-point inspection, get insured, and our purchase could close. They also grounded some wires in the fuse box that were not properly grounded.

+ 0 moreOverall, on this and a prior occasion, Longman Electric was very professional and affordable, He showed up at the agreed upon time, worked efficiently and clearly knew what he was doing. He did not try and do any unnecessary work and was gracious about coming out to the property a second time to address follow up electrical issues. Longman was referred by my plumber.
Description of Work: Longman performed routine electric services (lighting, panel inspection and outlet replacement) in connection with home sale survey. Follow up questions by relocation company necessitated a second visit and a few follow up repairs.

Description of Work: Local established firm came within 48 hours of call. Electrician installed 2 outdoor ceiling fans, activated a dead GFID outlet, and troubleshot a balking pool light. One of the 'new' outdoor fans failed to run. Electrician opened up switch box at base of fan and found it had been connected incorrectly at the factory. A quick repair and the fan ran without problem.

+ 0 moreI actually had longman electric to my condo on two occasions. They helped me install lights for my kitchen the first time and the foyer the next time. The foyer lights were really tricky because they were very high up. The guys did a great job. I've saved their number in my cell phone and would definitely call them again if I have any lighting projects. They were also prompt and friendly.

+ 0 moreOverall a great job. Very detailed. Very professional job. On areas for improvement -They probably should have checked that all the recessed lights were the same. Their supplier enclosed one of the lights with a different finish than the others. Carlos had to go to the store to purchase one light. I alos should have checked that the light in the fan I had purchased was dimmable. The fan had fluorescent bulbs which were not dimmable. Carlos purchased two bulbs for us on his trip to replace the recessed light.
Description of Work: We are remodeling our kitchen and we needed to 1-replace track lights with recessed lights, (8 lights), 2- install two pendant lights, 3-remove old kitchen fan and install a new one more centered in the middle of the kitchen, 4-add dimmers to the recessed lights, pendant lights and fan. Our ceiling is slanted going from some 9 feet to 14 feet so it required some extra work. We looked in Angies list for recommendations and picked three companies to come in and give estimates. Michael Longman was the first to come and visit us. He was on time and we discussed what we wanted to do. He was very helpful with ideas including going with 4 " lights instead of 6" which is what we had. Also discussed the pendant type lights and where to locate them as well as the ceiling fan. We discussed types of bulbs and decided to go with regular incandescent vs LED. Latter where outside our budget. After the other companies came by, we selected Longman electric based on the discussion we had and price. They were not the cheapest- they were in the middle but close to the higher bid. He sent in his estimate via email the following day after his visit. We purchased the pendant lights and he purchased the recessed eye ball lights and IC/ air tight top hats. He told us the type so that we could look at the lights in the store before installation. We picked a date for the installation and two of his electricians ( Carlos Pelaez, and Jose ) came in for the work pretty much on time. They proceeded with the work continuously must of the day. They discussed the exact locations of the lights double checking the measurements before cutting. They also recommended, based on their experience, the locations of the recessed lights which were a little different than where we originally wanted them. After the discussion, we realized they were right. They also recommended the pendant lights to be lower than what we wanted and they were also right. Both Carlos and Jose were very helpful. They stayed late to finish the job working till pm. They arrived at 9 am, so it was a long day. Before leaving they cleaned up the entire kitchen and double checked that all the lights were working. We are very happy with the work and their professionalism. If you can, ask for Carlos and Jose, they were excellent- great work.

The owner came out and went over what I wanted to do. He was really helpful in picking out ways to accomplish that. I was very satisfied with the results. The work turned out excellent and I was very happy with it. I thought that the price was fair and they were very professional. They obviously didn't want to do a sloppy job and were very good about it. They were really interested in making the final result look good which I really appreciate.
Description of Work: I used Longman Electric last month. They installed ceiling lights in my living room.

+ -1 moreI think it was a little more expensive than I expected, but they were very prompt and professional. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them. They were worth the money.
Description of Work: My septic system had a lift station and pump that was not functioning. First it needed troubleshooting to see if the pump was bad, or if there was even power to the pump. A gentleman from Longman Electric came out the next day and first established that there was no power to my pump. He then was able to determine that the pump was functioning and I had him go ahead and correctly install the proper electrical lines and in ground box to the system.

Description of Work: Solved our problem with a quick return phone call and saved us at least $75 service charge. Told him the problem we were having and he suggested we try one simple thing before he came over to check it out...it worked! Another contractor may have known what the problem was but would have come here anyway, done the quick fix and charged us for a service call. Very pleasant and knowledgeable...would definitely call again should the need arise. Highly recommend!!!

Unfortunately it was the part with the AC, the TV, the kitchen appliances, and the office from which our work from home is done. I checked Angie's List the next day and decided on Longman Electric as they were listed nearby. They were extremely busy but promised to get there later that day. Mike finished a job in Broward and drove to Miami in rush hour traffic, in the Florida heat, and apologized that we had to wait. Very professional! I was expecting a serious wiring problem as our house is old and we have had problems in the past. He checked the AC to make sure that wasn't the cause, double checked the outside fuse box to the pool, and diagnosed the problem as two faulty interior breakers. He replaced them immediately for a price of $204, far less then I was expecting. We have had no problem since. As far as I'm concerned, Mike is our electric guy!
