 + 1 moreCalled L W Boyd Tree Service spoke with Mr. John Boyd explained what I need Mr. Boyd listened and assisted me with suggestions he was very professional and knew exactly what I was talking about. I wanted two specific trees and had been looking for several months they were Lignum Vitae they have a beautiful blue flower and are very slow growing. Mr. Boyd was able to locate two in 100 gallon containers I also needed three large Oak trees which he advised would not be a problem he also put in 100 Clusia hedge 15 gallon containers for the perimeter of my property. In addition to the landscaping he also provided tree service removed two 35 foot Royal Palms two Dead Christmas Palms and 4 Silver Button Wood Trees he stump gridding on all the removed trees and spread the mulch. In addition he also pruned and shaped 4 large Oak trees. There was a deadline that I told him I needed to meet and he assured me all would be completed by 9/6/14. Well he had everything completed and his team of workers were very professional and courteous. If you are looking for any Tree service or Landscape service you cannot go wrong with LW Boyd this is a very reputable company. I myself used his services several years ago and will come back again!!!

 + -1 moreThis company was a complete nightmare to work with! John was highly unprofessional, aggressive and erratic. He demanded to be paid before the trees were removed and dams fed to be paid in cash. I explained to John that he would be paid once the job was completed as agreed which would include the tree removal, stump grinding and hauling all of the debris by company check. Clearly, it states on Angie's list that he accepts both checks and credit cards. He started yelling and threatening my wife and I and created a scene in the neighborhood demanding to be paid before the job was completed and making demanded to be paid in cash only. He was highly aggressive and horrible. Do yourself a favor and never ever contact this man who runs quite the angry circus. He later continued to harass us demanding not to be paid by check and only p be paid by cash. He didn't grind the stump and he left a bunch of debris on our property. since we only had a company check or company credit card to pay him with as we had preciously agreed we had no cash on us. He continued to scream and scare all the neighbors and said he would be back in the morning because he would not accept our company check or credit card (highly unprofessional and not fair and consistent with his advertisements or our agreement). He came back in the morning and refused to issued a paid receipt to us ... We paid him in cash as he demanded and then after receiving the cash he drove erratically all over our lawn in anger ruining our landscaping, spreading junk and debris and drive over two shovels, rakes and equipment we had outside. He broke all of our equipment and shovels and rakes by driving over it all and destroyed our front lawn. This man is clearly mentally ill and should NOT be on Angie's list as he is unprofessional and a danger to home owners and their property. Beware of this man and his company. DO NOT hire them ans save yourself the huge hassle and Mikey mouse circus. We have decided to have our attorney deal with him because he discriminated against us and although he is to be fair and consistent with each and every customer he was not by demanding a certain form of payment and we are reporting him to the BBB as well. In addition, he ruined our equipment and damaged our property which our attorney will handle. This company should not be on Angie's list.

 + -1 moreI have a 1 acre lot with numerous tall (40+ ft) ficus and black olive trees, and 15 foot ficus hedges, and assorted palms. A 3 man crew was here for 3 1/2 days, although with rain delays I estimate the project was about 2 full days of work. Prompt, courteous and reasonably priced. Would definitely use again.
Description of Work: Tree trimming in preparation for hurricane season. Dead tree removal.

 + -1 moreThey responded immediately to my call for a quote They came and gave me a written quote detailing the work. I called them and asked them to do the work. They came that week and performed the work. They removed one large tree and ground the stump without any limbs falling on my neighbors house. They trimmed back one very large tree. They dug up and replanted a 15' Christmas Palm for me. They arrived on time. They had sufficient men here to do all the work. They were careful about not damaging anything else. They had to cut part of the deck to grind the stump and they did that very thoughtfully and well. They completed the work on time They went beyond the call by placing supports for the tree that was replanted. They cleaned up everything. ALL WAS DONE IN VERY WORKMANLIKE MANNER. I would recommend them to anyone.

 + -1 moreAfter requesting an estimate via Angie's List we received a call the same afternoon and got a visit plus estimate about a half hour later. It seemed like a fair price and none of the other tree services we contacted got back to us, we agreed to have him remove the tree. This was kind of urgent since the already leaning tree had started to move even closer towards the house and we didn't want to go through more rain and wind with it being in that shape. L.W.Boyd showed up the next day as promised and took care of the tree while we were not home. By the time we got in, everything was completely cleaned up. They did an excellent job and we would definitely recommend them and hire them again.

 + -1 moreJohn is reliable, dependable, professional, and a heckofa nice guy. His crew was friendly and courteous. When I first called for an estimate, he called me 10 minutes before the appointment to let me know he was on the way, but might be a few minutes late. He wasn't. I asked 2 other companies on Angies list for estimates: one was a day late, the other never showed. After utilities had marked my yard, the paint locator lines looked like spider webs; there were gas, electric and cable lines everywhere. Boyd dealt with that, and I now have a clear yard and a secure fence. The other estimate was $2000. I was hesitant to go with Boyd, since their estimate was so low I thought something might be wrong. Glad I hired them, great job, right on time, great price. I don't know how they stay in business!
Description of Work: Removed 6 Areca palms, around 10 large stumps many of which were entangled in a chain link fence. Had to remove some pieces of fence to accomplish the work. Trimmed very large and overgrown Black Olive tree and removed another large palm.

 + -1 moreI called this company around 10 am on a Wednesday to get an estimate for removal of a tree stump in my backyard. To my pleasant surprise, I was told someone could stop by my house in a few hours. To my even greater surprise, the same gentleman called me back soon after not only to say he had already stopped by the house, but that if I wanted the stump could be removed that very moment! And, the price he quoted seemed very fair. I gave the go-ahead and by the time I got home from work, the stump was gone. His workers also did a great job cleaning up the mess. All in all an awesome experience, and I would gladly do business with this company again.

They also gave me a free estimate on some additional work that I didn't actually want to do at that time so I will use them when I need that done. They were quite competitive on their pricing. We found a big variation of prices.

I had several estimates, they were the lowest and John was the only contractor that offered to place the tree cuttings in the front so I could save a few hundred dollars. I don't mind having the pile in front of the house to save some hard earned money.
Description of Work: Cut down & stump grinding of Caribbean Almond tree, cut down & stump grinding of mamoncillo (soap berry) tree, grinding of old ficus & coconut tree stumps;all four in front of house. Trunk & stump grinding of two sour sop trees in side of house. Large mango & avocado trees pruning, removal of three big roots in back of house. They also removed three small citrus trees. All was placed in front of house for county pickup.

 + -1 moreFirst, John Boyd answered the phone, agreed to a time, and showed up on time. In Miami-Dade county, that is a huge plus. Second, Mr. Boyd and his crew called ahead to let me know they were on their way and again, showed up on time, Huge Plus No. 2. Finally, Mr. Boyd explained to his crew exactly what we had agreed to and they did just that. The trees have never looked better. The crew was respectful of property and neighbor's property. Excellent service, excellent job. I could have paid a few dollars less, but, based on other reviews and timeliness of call backs, I would probably still be waiting for the other guys to show up.

Description of Work: I had giant roots in the backyard they were ready to take over the deck. It was difficult to walk around. They came in with a great machine they shaved the roots down completely. It was a big job. They also trimmed trees and fertilized other trees.

 + -1 moreThese guys are great. Several days of bad weather delayed the process but they came out, was light rain and still did an awesome job. Two stumps to be ground, one was an extremely hard wood and they brought out the remote control monster even though it was raining. It was a very tight squeeze to fit the machine past the house and fence but they did it. Absolutely no evidence of the trees left. A very good job and a good price.

He was prompt and left us a written estimate. He followed up with us to see if we had any questions and was eager to do the work. We agreed on a very fair price and his team came in, did the work quickly and cleaned up all the debris. We are very pleased and would highly recommend them.
