If you are looking for something to plant that's not the usual stock most other places have, try Exotic Palms. We met the folks there (Steve Stern and his wife, I can't remember her name) at a plant show in Wilton Manors, FL and bought so many unusual and beautiful specimens. His palm trees are unique and exotic, lots of fascinating varieties to choose from and at the show, we discovered he has Talipot Palm trees, something we've been looking to have for a while since seeing one at the New River in Fort Lauderdale. So we drove down to his place near Homestead and bought one. Steve and his wife are very friendly and very knowledgeable about palm trees and horticulture in general. They have an interesting property with some green houses, not the most well kept but it is filled with all kinds of amazing palm trees. Me being a horticulture fan, I was in heaven! Steve and his team helped us load this 7' tall talipot palm tree in our truck, along with a few smaller must haves, and we are so thrilled to have it planted and growing in our yard. All in all, I have some 10 different palm species from this place. Some are quite expensive yet they have big twice-annual sales which helps. I'll be returning again to see what new and interesting things they have to offer!
