This company is horrible. The guy they sent was completely lost, admitted that the 50/50/50 sale is on one carpet, one floor only. All others are regular price. Refused to measure until he got a sense as to whether I was in the ball park on money. He had the price lists wadded up in a notebook. Slovenly and disorganized. I would never do business with them, even if they were cheaper.

NEVER, and I mean NEVER use Empire for your flooring needs. This was my experience: The sales person was given a floor plan and a view of my entryway that has curved corners which would affect the quarter round molding. They sent out two installers, neither of whom spoke a word of English, and they did a LOUSY and INCOMPETENT job. Their idea of putting molding in an inside curve was cutting straight, unbendable wood quarter-round molding into one inch pieces at angles and glueing them together rather than using flexible molding. It looked like a small child did this work!! They also left many large areas of glue or caulk smeared on much of the flooring. When I brought this to the attention of customer service, they told me where to find cleaner as if it was my responsibility. At the same time I told them of my dissatisfaction with the corner moldings. From that point, people were scheduled to come assess, some came and couldn?t see the problem (?!?), others never showed, others said they would report the problem. Many, many phone calls, emails, and certified letters were made and sent. After six weeks, they finally ordered the flexible molding, and six weeks after that they came to fix it as if they were doing me a big favor. They wanted me to tell them how good it looked. I lost time and money at work because of the hours spent trying to get my floor done correctly. NEVER, EVER use this company.

We already started we wanted wood floors. He brought to us just 4 samples of wood floors( i would think there would be more) We listen and went to measure the 3 rooms. I heard him say the room were bigger than they seem. Anyway, he came back and we told him the wood we wanted for our two regular size rooms and one master that is not that big. He started that if we installed during the week was cheaper than weekend.We told him it was fine. Somehow the price started at over $8000 and suddenly if we pick weekday would go down to about $5800. We were naive( not anymore) and said sure. He called and wanted to push for the next tuesday to install. I was like wow. slow down. Too pushy. We said we would think about it and suddenly a coupon for $200 off came out. Thank god the credit didnt go thru cause it was too expensive( we found out later). Once the credit failed, he didnt speak a word to us and packed up and left. A few days later we get a call saying they found another bank to finance us. We said we didnt asked for this. We thought it was over. Seems they kept running my husband's credit and affected our score. The salesman then call me and ask me when can he pass to sign the contract. I told him there was no contract, we didnt ask for another financing. He was angry and upset. My husband got another call and he told them we never agreed to a search for credit and to stop. We will not use your company.

I hired after seeing their AD on television. They came and showed up on time. It was projected to be a two day job, but they completed it in one day. They were willing to stay late on the first day and get it completed. I appreciated that. Three men completed the work. They worked very hard and were professional. They cleaned up well after the job was complete. After my neighbor came over to see the work that they did, she used them for a job as well. I had gotten estimates from other companies and their price good.

The installers were professional and on time. The only dissatisfaction was with Empire Central. It was difficult to reschedule an appointment. Also, as Empire works COD, I paid for a service before it was able to happen due to water damage in a sub floor. However, when the installation was rescheduled, I was again asked for money. The installer had to call the main office to verify payment. I am very happy with my carpet, however, Empire needs to work on their telephone service.

On the scheduled installation date a company rep called to cancel the installation due to defective carpet. Rescheduled and new date the installers did not look professional at all not to mention they didn't have not one item from my original order. Everything was going wrong. There were to many RED flags.I got out while I could.

I scheduled an estimate and I was ready to get this job going and finish this never ending renovation. The area I needed carpeting on is 150 sq ft. It's a small stair case landing and a closet. I figured it would not cost more than $300 to complete that small area, and that was stretching it a bit. I couldn't believe it when the sales person told me it would cost $720!! My mom just had a pretty large room done for $400. The sales person said that they had a sale going on and that would bring the price down to $575. I was still shocked at that price. She said she would call her manager to see if he could do better. The final price was $450. That's still ridiculous for 150 sq ft! I said NO WAY! I found several other local companies here on Angie's list with great reviews and very fair prices. I'll be calling them Monday.

I am a savvy consumer and wanted to see what Empire had to offer based on their TV ads touting low prices. The salesman was great, but only on the job 3 weeks. He spent a lot of time showing me samples and measuring. Then he came up with a price that was out of sight. He called his boss and they offered a discount if I signed right away. I don't do business that way. I shop around for the best deal and it was NOT Empire...even with the and quot;discountsand quot;. I don't like the way they do business and the pressure tactics they use. They give you a high price and hope you haven't shopped around.. I received a call from Empire (not the salesman) a week later and told them I don't like to be pressured. There's a sucker born every minute...but it isn't me!

Description of Work: I blame myself...I went with empire because I was not patient enough to get other estimates and I was influenced by their salesperson whom I shared a professional occupation with (albeit retired). The installation was timely and professional, I have no quams with them but I walked away afterwards and felt like I paid FAR to much for what I got. Okay, I did not buy top of the line but I certainly know I got ripped off for what I paid. Approx 780 sq ft! Give me a break...Rest assured to the salesperson I dealt with I blame myself but will tell our breathren about my experience. Bottom line TO MUCH MONEY!

Today (8/30/2012) Empire Today is supposed to install the floor. We did not hear from them yesterday as to when they are coming to do this and here it is 9 AM, no installers, and no phone call. Not a good way to start out! This morning we also realized that by adding flooring, on top of existing flooring, will make it difficult to remove a dishwasher should we need repair or purchase a new one. I hope the installers have an idea about how to handle this!!! Right now I am not impressed with Empire Today and am beginning to be very sorry we hired them.
Description of Work: This is our first experience with Empire Today. Thinking that it is a nation wide company, they would be good. The salesperson came out quickly. Apparently there is only one salesperson who comes out to our area of Florida. He was knowledgeable about his product and advised us that the best way to proceed would be to put a laminate floor on top of our existing tile floor as the expense of removing the tile would mot be cost effective. We also asked about redoing our living room floor with the same laminate and found that it would not be cost effective to do that. He did not know how to install tile on top of tile until someone from his company called and explained that to him. Understandable, he is a salesman not an installer.

The sales person was prompt. Thats where the positives end. The sales person made some measurements then proceeded to write up an extremely high quotation for hardwood laminate flooring and also for carpet. The hardwood flooring quote for a small 1 bedroom condo was over $5,000 and the carpet quote was around $2,000. He said he could give me a discount if I was willing to sign a contract right then. I told him no, I would be getting multiple quotes before deciding. He also could not answer any questions I asked about the cleaning and care of the hardwood laminate flooring.

Estimator showed up right on time and brought many samples of different carpet types and padding types. Estimate as to square feet was accurate. Estimates was given for the carpet and pad that we wanted and price was below what we had expected. Installation was scheduled per our convenience. Installers called early that morning to let us know approximately when they would be there and as requested called us again 10 minutes before arrival.Job they did was very efficient and professional. They quickly removed all old carpet and pad and replaced a lot of the bad tack strip. They thoroughly cleaned the floor and then installed the new pad and carpet. The carpet we picked had a pattern in it and required some seaming since rooms were larger that 12 feet. Carpet went in quick, but many hours were spent on the seams. They really did a great job here. Even though the carpet had a pattern and pile height varied, you could not find the seams. Even when I pointed out where they were to my wife, she couldn't see them. Based on my experience, I would highly recomend Empire.

We had such a bad experience with them, which is why we joined Angie's List to find a good one. They are a nationwide company. They have their website, and they have a commercial on TV with the phone numbers. There is a little jingle with the phone number that gets stuck in one's head forever. They sent us a salesman out, and he had samples and everything. Everything went fine. We ordered a certain color of bamboo. Initially, the guys came out when they said they would. They ordered it. It came when they said. It just was wrong. From that point onwards, everything was bad. When it came, the installers pulled out a piece and said that was the wood. My mother said that it was the wrong color. It was completely different than what we ordered, so we called the salesman. He came back and looked at it. He matched it on his board. It was the right number, but the colors were completely different. He hemmed in hard and round and round. He said he will call their manager and that they will see what they could do about it. They just left us hanging. They never returned any phone calls to tell us what was going on. I had to keep calling them, and he would tell us he would have the manager call us. The manager would never ever call us after the one time that he did call early in the morning. I asked for the callback in an hour when my mother is there and that was the last we ever heard of him. I finally called customer service to complain, and they said it was already listed that we are giving us a refund. No one told us about that. We were sitting here waiting to see what was going to happen, and they without a word just refunded the money. They never told us they were refunding or anything which is what we wanted, but we never got any phone calls from them. The salesman said his manager was trying to go and see what was up at the factory and everything. We tell everybody we see not to use Empire. We will not use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We ordered a certain color of bamboo for hardwood flooring installation from Empire Today of Chicago in October. The bamboo that came was completely wrong. The problem wasn't rectified, and they gave us a refund after a lot of calling and waiting on our part.

The salesperson was nice however just trying to make the sale trying to offer other products I wasnt interested in. Gave too much pitch for the company before showing me the product. Overall I would always have a couple of estimates. They first quoted me a price that was almost $1700 over what I had recieved from another company for the same quality carpet, but since they match he had to come down to the lower price to get my business.
Description of Work: I had three bedrooms, loft area and stairs carpeted. They met the lowest cost of the other quotes I had. They installed the next day and did it fast and efficiantly. They were very good at not marking up the walls and baseboards.

We called Empire Today based on their numerous TV ads that tout how you get so much for your money and because they come to your home (keep in mind, many other places do too). We also had 2 other carpet companies coming out the next day to give us estimates as well. They sent Joy out to help us. All was fine at first. She arrived precisely at the designated appointment time. After showing us a bunch of samples, we picked what we liked and she priced it out. That's when the "Joy" left the room. After giving us prices (which we had nothing to compare them to), she said she only needed a deposit of $50 to hold these prices because they were only good TODAY. When my husband replied that we can't make any decisions until we get the other estimates, she immediately copped an attitude, grabbed her estimate sheet, and started packing up her samples. She also stated (which I still can't believe) something along the lines of 'if price is your concern, then Empire is not for you'. Here's the kicker, when the other estimates came in, it turns out that Empire's prices were fair and the quality seemed good. However, based on how she treated us, and the high pressure of having to order on the spot...we would NEVER order from them. But if you decide to call them, be prepared for the high pressure, and be sure to get other estimates first and have them come out last.

Some good points: Estimator came on a Saturday on time. Convenient because they bring the samples to you. The installers moved the furniture out and back in place. Negatives: The installers did not arrive until after 2pm on the scheduled day. They could not give a me a precise time and I took the whole day off to wait. Turned out it was the third installation of the day for them. They ended up working until after 8pm which I did not expect. After 2 1/2 half years, I don't think the carpet is holding up very well.

They men that installed the carpet were very good, and they did an excellent job. I would highly recommend them to others, as well as use them again in the future.
