Response from City Roofing & Construction Inc
You, the customer are the reason we strive each and every day to provide the best service in the roofing industry. The roofing process can be a major undertaking especially if it’s their first time and most people will go through it an average of one to two times in their lifetime. We try to make our customers experience as hassle free and as pleasant as possible. We strive to build relationships with our customers that last for a lifetime. Part of our company philosophy is to take care of the customer and the rest will take care of itself. We are here to provide a solution to your problems. You are not an inconvenience but our purpose. You are not dependent on us, we are dependent on you. In this particular case we had a deadline to finish the job by April 7th. During the permit processing, we were aware of the requirement by City of Miami Beach which requested a copy of the Mr. [removed member name] insurance policy. This is done to determine the dwellings insured value. Under the Florida Mitigation Code, any property with an insure value above $300,000 must comply with the Mitigation requirements which results in costly retrofits to the roof. He had all the right to question the procedure as he had previously acquired work permits for previous work without this particular request. We understand building departments are there or the safety of its citizens but sometimes they can require additional information making things difficult and out of our control. Because his property insured value did in fact exceed $300,000, additional work was required by Miami Beach. We were able to bypass this requirement because we are in fact general contractors and provided a bid for the work and a letter proving that the cost of this project would exceed 15% of the reroof job. All this paperwork pushed our install date by 1 day but at the end of the day we were still on time to make our deadline. Long story short, we got noticed of the review the day before the install and decided to part ways with Mr [removed member name] and his project. He was notified of our decision via email and we return Mr. [removed member name] his deposit minus permit fees. In addition, we proceeded to complete the change of contractor and give Mr. [removed member name] instructions on how to avoid going through the entire permit process all over again and pay twice for permit application since permits are good for a period of 6 months. We enclosed the permit, engineering calculations, hold harmless form and letter of withdrawal and we parted ways. We wish Mr. [removed member name] all the best on his roofing project.
