Calypso Pool Co

Pool and Spa Service, Pool Sales Construction and Installation, Excavating,

About us

Calypso is a family owned business established in 1980 by Carlos Gonzalez, at that time a mere 23 year old with a vision that quality, beauty, and affordability must go hand in hand. He didn’t just want to get the customer in the door at any price at the expense of quality. His goal has always been to use top quality so our pools can stand the test of time. That is how we have grown steadily. The majority of our business comes by referrals from happy customers. Carlos was joined in 1981 by his half-brother Nilo Sierra. Nilo brings not only his expertise, but the dedication of being hands on with every pool, every step of the way. His customers will be the first to tell that he is very fair-minded and takes a lot of pride in his projects. Nilo is known to supervise the supervisors. He is always available to our customers.

We came across Calypso Pools after long search for reliable service provider, read many reviews to determine which company would fit our expectations. We knew that some barriers could arise along the project which really did, but with permits from the City, around 70 days to get final approval to start digging. Calypso was there for all times to solve all City requirements. They start to build our pool on July 1st with all involved workers very well synchronized and believe me, after 33 DAYS ONLY, everything was done in a perfect way, I could not be better pleased with the results and professionalism from Calypso, even my neighbors couldn’t believe that a beautiful pool was done in a short time. I strongly recommend Calypso by their hard work and great support from A to Z, high quality and above all honesty to deliver RESULTS. Our family are so happy, thank you Calypso.

We talked to other people, I think they looked knowledgeable. They also do not sub contract. All of the contract goes through them. When we were looking for people to do the job they all sub contacted. With them the crew does everything they do not sub contact. The price was more or less the same as the other. They did not over price, and they gave me information. I think the other person did do in relation to how long I can do the pool base with the limits with the other houses. There was someone else that they could go almost to the other houses, and Calypso pool told me no that was not correct. They answered any questions I had and they went to the county. The whole process of the pool. They put the metal inside, they did the pipes, and concrete. Its a long process. They did everything.

It went amazing.. I had heard of horror stories in the pool industry so I was nervous of the undertaking. I met with Eddy and after our 1st meeting ( lasted about 1 hr) he made me feel comfortable and he definitely sounded like he knew what he was talking about. I pondered the pool for a week or so and I gave him the job. He promised me 4-6 weeks from the moment his 1st machine hit the ground... pool started Dec 28 and was finished Jan 25th! less then four weeks. final inspection was a few days later but the pool was complete the 25th. Great Company Great People!

2 hours before our appointment, I decided to call to speak to the sale person, Gladys. When she answered the phone, I told her that we had an appointment but before we went to make the trip out there, I had a few questions. I asked her, "What is the objective of this meeting?" She answered in a very condescending tone, "To get an estimate for a pool." I explained that I understand that, but I wanted to know a little more. I also asked why they don't come to your house. She said, "Why do I need to come to your house when I have a survey?" I also understand that she has a survey but every other pool company had come to our house. We have a unique home, where we did a very high end remodel last year and I simply would prefer to work with someone that comes to our house and sees the home, gets a good feel for it and our lifestyle. I told her that I didn't want to go there because I had a very busy day so I would call her at our appointment time and we could discuss the pool. At no point during this conversation, from the very first moment on, was this person polite, welcoming... nice... I called her at 2pm sharp. She answered, again, with a very abrasive tone. I told her, we have an appointment for 2pm. She said, "ok..." Then remained silent. After a couple of seconds, I said what's the next step. She responds by saying, "I don't know, you tell me". At that point, I had had enough. I wasn't going to do business with this person. Just plain rude and I could tell, just a difficult person. So I told her I'd heard enough, thanked her, said goodbye and hung up. I left it alone and thought we were moving on. A few minutes later, she sends me a text telling me to go to their website that if I want a modern pool, I'll see some there and that they value their time, which is why they set 2 hours aside to meet with me today. I responded by telling her that I feel she was very abrasive and I wasn't interested in doing business with her. That I'm aware of the use of a survey, but I prefer to work with someone who wants to see my home and give me their ideas based on that, instead of just some measurements on a survey. I wished her good luck and tried to end the conversation. She responds again, "sorry you feel that way but when you start a conversation with an abrasive tone, that sets the tone." I tried to get rid of her again by telling her that we are not interested in doing business because I don't like how she spoke to me and that was it. I wished her good luck again. She responded again telling me that I was the one who had the abrasive tone and that they don't want this kind of relationship anyway. I then asked her to please leave me alone but at this point I was upset. I told my wife that I wasn't going to base my opinion of an entire company on my interaction with one of the sales reps. I called the company and asked to speak to the owner, to basically give them another chance. I left a message and shortly thereafter, this lady calls me back. Again, very aggressive. You called to complain to my husband. We are the owners of this company. I asked her, YOU are the owner of this company? She confirmed it. I said, ok, then we have nothing else to talk about. I wasn't going to base my opinion of the company on my experience with a sales rep who may have gotten out of bed on the wrong side in the morning. After all, anyone can have a bad day. But since she is telling me that it's her company, I guess we were done. As I was saying that, I'm not sure she heard any of it because she was practically screaming at me and talking over everything I was saying until the moment I hung up the phone. My wife was in the office with me and she could hear her from where she was without even being on speaker phone. It was just a crazy experience. I don't know if this Gladys lady is really the owner of this company, but she certainly cost them a client.
