Best Miami Roofers

Description of Work: I wrote a review of the work done by this roofer and praised him. Then I began having leaks that were supposed to be fixed and I began looking at the work. He used what he called a superior covering paint (this was not a new roof but an updated and repair of the full roof) and caulk that was not wide enough to ensure the full coverage of patches done on the rooftop. Also there were dozens of bubble but the crew only "repaired" the largest ones. They did this by cutting them open and then just painting over it with this special paint with thin patches to cover. As well, the man painting the roof was an older portly man, very nice but he couldn't get down on his hands and knees to look for the major leak I had and so it continued to leak after the work and got worse. Not only was the work a huge and expensive disappointment but the owner Kenny Samuels was very hyper and very aggressive, always talking about roof maintenance and how he would take care of that and then pressing to let him paint my house as well. IN December 2015, he dropped by without calling and wanted to inspect the roof. He beat on my gate and yelled my name out real loud and then, because the gate was unlocked, he came into my courtyard and banged on the door with his fist. I told him I was on deadline with two big projects and told him I couldn't take the time out now to walk the roof. I also told him I had a leak worse than before where he was supposed to have patched it and he told me recent storms had everyone complaining about leaking roofs. He wanted to do maintenance on the roof but I did not have time NOR DID I WANT HIM TO DO IT. So he stood on a ladder by my front door and looked at the area needing repair and gave me a quote of $2500 WITHOUT EVEN GOING ONTO THE ROOF. I told him to bring a much better person to do the work and once we saw what it entailed we would discuss the price. He brought an excellent roofer, the one I wish I had used in the first place, because this man uses proper and Grade A+ materials and does the best work with great pride. He has had to re-patch almost my entire roof and showed me where the first crew had failed to even do things properly and he has taught me a lot about roofing. I appreciate this as I'm a single woman and we often get taken by these guys. |So at first, I was thrilled just to have what seemed like a new roof but was actually a repaired one. As well, over the duration of the work, the price kept going higher, more supplies were required so the original quote kept going up until I simply said I have no more money. I regret using this roofer and I'm sorry I wrote him a glowing recommendation. I even recommended him to a neighbor who used him once and said never again and a woman on another nearby street also complained through the grapevine we have in our neighborhood about this same roofer, felt taken, cheated, and that he was too aggressive. I'm also disappointed in a wood worker I bid on for $149. The man came, he was very nice, but he became so busy by the promotion of Angie's, that he simply didn't have time to do my little $149 job which would have taken an hour at most. But the drive to my house in Miami was too far for him, he said. So I still have a credit for that but I would like a confirmation of the credit as I am near to applying it to something else. But this roofer K&S or it has several names.......he gives Angie's List a bad name. I know you can only go on recommendations and I gave him a good one but I'm taking it back. The guy is a thief and skimps on materials to put more money in his pocket. Maggie Steber
