I like doing business with a family run and operated business. They usually take pride in their work and their reputation. This was a big expense and one not to be taken lightly. I originally met with a few window companies. They all seemed competent. They all had good reputations. When I met with Johnathan I got the feeling that it wasn't just another job. He valued his company and his product and I ultimately decided on his company. I don't think you can learn much about a company when everything goes right. That is what you expect. Its when things go wrong and what is done to rectify the problem that speaks to the value of the company. To be brief when speaking about and ordering my windows I met with 2 different people and somewhere in the conversations I mentioned that I wanted white windows. Well somehow several months later when the windows arrived they were bronze. Obviously a big mistake. I thought I was going to have a nightmare returning them and getting what I had wanted. I made 1 phone call to Jonathan and although it wasn't easy to swallow the white windows. He did it with grace and dignity and reordered my white windows. I would use this company again however I assume these windows will last 20 years or so and don't think they do anything else. I can say that I my new windows are white, the house is quieter, cooler and this was a great experience. Mistakes do happen along the way and this confusion was partly my fault. Job well done guys, thank you.

Overall, we had an excellent experience with ASP. Michael was helpful from the very start and very responsive throughout the project. We had a difficult tenant to take care of and they went the extra mile to keep him happy. The installation itself was challenging in this 1960's highrise condominium, but between the head installer and Michael, they managed to get us through this project without any major headaches or problems. As an experienced residential property manager, investor and real estate broker, I highly recommend ASP.
Description of Work: Installation of new hurricane impact windows in a one bedroom condominium in South Beach. This included a large sliding glass door and bedroom windows. Obtaining the necessary approvals and permit from the City of Miami Beach and the condominium association, removal of the existing windows and frames, installation of the new impact windows and sliders, meeting the guidelines of the condominium association, coordinating the work with the tenant and property manager (me), clearing the final inspections.

I am writing this as it happens. It is now 10:15 AM on the appointed day of installation. The appointed time of installation was 10:AM. N called us at 9:50AM to tell us that they would be unable to install our windows today . THAT IS 10 MINUTES BEFORE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HERE! The original installation was to be the end of May. Full disclosure - the first one we had to change when our tenant had to cut his vacation. I called H,the salesman, and gave more than a month's notice of this. Then it was the 6th of June. Then it was the 13th of June. Then the 18th. Now, today, is the day - the 18th. I had called on Friday to confirm that today (Monday the 18th) was indeed the day and was told that they would be here before 10 today. I expressed to N at 9:50AM how monumentally (words fail me) upset we were. We had been responsible in our payments (they somehow lost the record of our first payment and we had to go to the bank to have the bank fax them proof that we had paid...I should have taken a cue from that) and expected no less from them. I had, on every appointed day, told N and the salesman, H, that one of the reasons (apart from common courtesy and good business practice) that these dates were so important was that six of these windows were in my tenant's house and we have to pay for the days that he has to be out of the house. So now he (the tenant) made his arrangements and is out of the house, we're paying for his inconvenience and , with 10 minutes before they were to begin work, N calls to say they won't be here today either!. Now, I talked to N at 9:50AM today as I said.... She said she'd call back within 15 minutes to confirm that they will be here tomorrow. I asked her to please do that so we at least wouldn't have to wait around here all day. It's 10:35AM and no call. At 11AM I'll call.........more to come. At 11:15 I called N because she hadn't called me back. She assured me (once again) that the job would be done tomorrow ( "they'll be there before 10"). I asked to speak to the owner, Jonathan, who, to his credit, did take the call right then. I basically asked Jonathan if this was any way to run a business. He said that there had been some scheduling problems and "transitions" and that unfortunately we were caught in the middle of this (full disclosure - I have paraphrased here). Don't we clients always LOVE to hear these very lame excuses when a company -THAT WAS MORE THAN HAPPY TO MAKE PROMISES AND TAKE OUR MONEY WHEN THEY SOLD US THE JOB- doesn't come through..... He said that he did care about the reputation of his company . He said he would be sure to satisfy me and, of course, apologized. I told him my report would be honest so it was up to him how it would turn out......I'll write more after the job tomorrow. I couldn't write the day after the job because there was so much to clean and I had to do it before our tenant returned. Keeping in mind that H, the salesman , assured me that the crew draped everything with plastic to keep dust to a minimum - one of the things that we based our choice of this company on . Well , you guessed it, - nothing was draped - not even the TV - not even after I pointed this out to one of the crew members and he said that they were going to do that after the first window. They did use a vacuum cleaner. Four guys came to do the job. Two started on the two windows in the main house while the other two prepared to do the the other six in the cottage (a 'mother -in - law' quarters, common in this part of town). The windows in the main house presented a problem because our house was built in 1939 and nothing is standard or up to standard. They got those windows in and proceeded to the cottage. They managed to get all the windows installed in the one day. I was grateful for this since, as I said, we were paying to have our tenant out of there. All of these windows had tiled window sills. This is also common in older houses. I used to install phones and have seen this many times myself. Full disclosure...our window sills were wider than usual by about 4" (the width of a tile) but we had actually had H, the salesman, look specifically at this feature and he had said that it would not present a problem. All went fairly smoothly until the end of the day. Since the previous windows were awning, they had a crank at one corner of the window. One tile on each window sill had to be removed (broken out) to get the window out. I had bought the replacement tiles and in 4 of the windows the tile had been replaced on the windowsill. Two of the windowsills were missing that replacement tile even though the tile was sitting next to the open tile hole on the window sill. Twice during the day I had reminded M (one of the crew) that those two tiles hadn't been replaced. He said it would get done. The end of the day comes and R (one of the crew) comes to get the last big installment - 2000 plus $'s. As I'm doing the final walk through, I see that those two tiles still haven't been installed on the windowsill. I ask about this. R says that 'someone' will be by to install them tomorrow.....TWO FOUR INCH TILES. He says that it was the job of the "other crew" (keep in mind that there are only 4 guys all together and someone had replaced the tiles in the other 4 windowsills) to install these two tiles! My mama didn't raise any fools either. I told R that I will give the check to the guys who come to install those tiles tomorrow because then the job will be complete. He says that the guy coming to install the two tiles tomorrow is from the "other crew" ( remember...there are only four guys all together).....so I can't give the check to him .. Truthfully,, I didn't get it at first............ The "other crew" he kept talking about referred to the fact that only two of the guys were regular employee's of ASP (R and M). The other two were subcontracted to help these first two guys. Apparently they had divided the labor by windows. The two contracted guys were supposed to be responsible for some of the windows and the regular ASP guys (R and M) were responsible for some of the windows.. So when the subcontracted guys had to leave and didn't put in those last two tiles, the regular ASP guys didn't think it was their job to do it. As a customer I have little interest in this division of labor problem. I just want the job done in a timely manner by employees of the company I hired. When I wouldn't give them the check the game changed. They couldn't leave without the check and I wasn't about to give it to them until the job was complete. R actually called the other two subcontracted guys to come back and put in the TWO 4" TILES. Repeating over and over (and over) that it was the "other crew" who's job it was to do that. They sat in the driveway for an hour and a half waiting for the other two guys to come back to put in these two tiles. This extended my day (I couldn't lock up the house until they were gone). In the end, after waiting in the driveway for an hour and a half (and realizing , I guess, that they really were not going to get the check until the job was complete) they put in the tiles themselves (further extending my day). The "other crew" did come back but R and M had already installed the tiles. TURNS OUT THAT, INSTEAD OF SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF, THEIR TIME WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER SPENT INSPECTING THE WORK BECAUSE THE NEXT DAY, THE JOB DID NOT PASS CITY BUILDING INSPECTION. SCREWS WERE MISSING IN THE WINDOWS. I called Jonathan immediately. He said that R and M were working close and would be able to come and put the screws in. The inspector couldn't wait for them. R and M came back and put in the missing screws (all the time talking about how this is the fault of the - you guessed it - "other crew". We were lucky, the city inspector was able to come back the same day. THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO KNOW THAT CUSTOMERS AREN'T INTERESTED IN DOZENS OF LAME EXCUSES FOR NOT DOING THE JOB THEY'VE BEEN HIRED TO DO. WE AREN'T INTERESTED IN TRANSITIONS AND DRAMA AND NEW EMPLOYEES OR 'TROUBLE' WITH INSPECTIONS ON OTHER JOBS THAT PREVENT YOU FROM HONORING APPOINTMENTS (3 TIMES - ONE OF THEM 10 MIN BEFORE START TIME). NOR IS IT THE CUSTOMERS JOB TO OVERSEE THE WORK AND MAKE SURE EMPLOYEES FINISH THEIR TASKS OR KNOW ABOUT THE "OTHER CREW" PROBLEMS. PROFESSIONAL TRADESPEOPLE MAKE SURE THE JOB IS DONE BEFORE THEY LEAVE AND DO NOT MAKE THE CUSTOMER FORCE THEM INTO COMPLETING THE WORK. ULTIMATELY THESE JOBS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ASP NO MATTER WHO THEY HIRE........ KNOW WHY?????......... BECAUSE THAT'S THE COMPANY WE HIRED TO DO THE WORK. ................... THIS WAS AMATEUR HOUR ALL AROUND. I PUT A "C" GRADE FOR PRICE BECAUSE THEY CHARGED ABOUT THE SAME AS OTHER COMPANIES WOULD TO DO THE SAME WORK.......... I GOT ESTIMATES FROM OTHER COMPANIES (WISH I'D PICKED ONE OF THEM). OTHERWISE IT'S ALL "F"S FROM ME. I'VE USED INITIALS FOR THE EMPLOYEES INVOLVED IN THIS (EXCEPT FOR THE OWNER, WHOM I FEEL BEARS ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE GOINGS ON IN HIS OWN COMPANY). EMPLOYEE'S ARE ONLY AS GOOD OR AS BAD AS AN OWNERS SUPERVISION ALLOWS THEM TO BE. ALL WE, AS CUSTOMERS, WANT, IS A JOB THAT STARTS ON TIME, IS HANDLED IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER, ENDS ON TIME AND WILL PASS INSPECTION THE FIRST TIME.....REALLY SIMPLE.

Dear member, We appreciate your feedback about your experience with our company. I'd like to personally express my sincerest apologies for your unfortunate experience with us. I understand how frustrating any remodeling project can be and that frustration is always intensified when things don't go as smoothly as we'd like. As a company that owes all of it's previous success to it's reputation for professionalism, superior service, and exceeding our customer's expectations, I would like to address some of your comments and discontent with our service. There was indeed some unfortunate hick ups in the scheduling of the installation due to a sudden significant increase in business that had our installation crews over whelmed with installations. This was the main cause for the delay on your installation date. As a domino affect, to address this sudden increase in business we were in the process of evaluating new crews for permanent employment with our company which is why there was a 2nd crew on your installation job. They were not sub-contracted. They were hired by our company and were being evaluated for permanent employment. Rigo was the supervisor as you already know and he was there to monitor their performance as well as ensure a speedy installation as you stated that you needed this installation completed as soon as possible. I would like to point out that an installation of this size will normally take 1 crew 2-3 days and we loaded up in order to complete the installation in one day for your convenience. I would like to stress that this does not normally happen and it is unfortunate that you were inconvenienced. That being said, inspections don't always go perfectly. What can be also pointed out is how responsive we were to the failed inspection that Rigo was able to return to the job site on the same day and had the failed inspection changed to a pass inspection on the same day. I agree that this job did not go as smoothly as to our standards and I take full responsibility for any inconvenience we caused you. With that being said, I'd like to point out that through out this process we were constantly in contact with you and we responded immediately to your requests. We never allowed the project to become idle and we were not finished until you were completely satisfied. Again, I appreciate your comments and to have the opportunity to explain our side of the story. I can assure you that our company thrives off of costumer satisfaction as you can see from the our 20+ positive reviews. I hope that you will understand that although we strive for perfection and have an great track record, mistakes do happen but we will always come back until we get it right with you. We are a company of honesty, integrity, and professionalism.

Jonathan, the company president, was the sales person. He explained features clearly and was not at all pushy. I sat through a 90 minute presentation by a DIFFERENT company who quoted a price three times higher for the same product . Obviously I went with Jonathan's company. The windows are great. If I had enough money to do the rest of my house, I'd definitely go with this company again.

I can sum it up in one word --- "AWESOME". I was in the market for Storm Shutters, Impact Windows and Doors for the upcoming Hurricane Season. I was also looking to save myself some money on my Home Owners Insurance. I was referred to American Storm Protection by a friend. I called to schedule an appointment for a sales rep to come out and inspect my property for an estimate. My called was answered promptly and courteously. It was very easy to make an appointment. On the day of the appointment they arrived on time. They were very friendly and professional. They were very patient by taking the time to explained the estimate to me in detail. They also were able to negotiate a price that would fit my budget. We then scheduled an appointment to have the work preformed. They arrived on time and promptly performed the work as we agreed upon. When they were finished they cleaned my property thoroughly as if they were never there. The best part was their were no surprises. The work was preformed exactly to the amount that we agreed. No hidden costs, charges or fees. I would definitely recommend American Storm Protection to everyone. Thank you your company is "AWESOME"

Jonathan - the owner of ASP was the most professional of all of the company reps we interviewed and obtained cost estimates from. He brought samples and clearly understood what we wanted. The work crews were punctual and worked quickly and professionaly. We did encounter some difficulties due to the original shoddy construction of my house - but the ASP crews were able to overcome these problems and in the process win the praise of the Sunrise Building Dept (no small feat if you have ever dealt with Sunrise). I was very pleased with all of the staff and crews and I would strongly recommend this company to anyone who wants to deal with friendly and competent professionals at competitive price points.

The workmanship was excellent and timely. The owner, Mr Rodriguez was very courteous, helpful and accommodating. He promptly returned my calls. His team was pleasant and professional. They cut no corners and took pride in their work. I am fully satisfied with the beautiful windows that were installed by this family owned and operated business. The windows took about four to six weeks from signing of contract to installation. They pulled the permits and once they got started they completed the job in 4 days. The finished product was beautiful and they did excellent stucco work even patching all the small holes around the windows that were there from my previous shutters. I only hope we don't have any hurricanes! I would highly recommend American Storm Protection.

The entire process went as smooth as can be. The owner, Jonathan came out to my home to give me an estimate. He was truly educated on all of the products available. He made the decision quite easy to go with his company and use the products recommended. The installation was immaculate. The install team covered up to minimize dust and at the end they cleaned up after themselves nicely. The inspector that came out informed me that they always do a good job. There were no hick-ups what so ever, and the workmanship is top notch. I can clearly see the difference in my electric bills since the upgrade and was also able to get some discounts on my insurance. I would recommend ASP to everyone.

I must say, my over all experience with American Storm Protection, exceeded my expectations, as much they absolutely provide me, and my house hold extraordinary customer service. Thus, the time and effort that was taken, the explanation of their fine product line, the estimated time that it would take to complete and manage the project, and the permits involved were clearly, and generously stated. Everything flowed from beginning to end, as management, and all the laborers involved preformed, worked, and operated like a team. From the consultation point, to the sales agreement, and all the way to the finished installation, I was extremely happy, and satisfied. Since then, I'm always getting complements about my front door, and knowing how I was treated, and appreciated by this company makes it all the more fabulous. Especially, coming from today's detached world where simple customer service is a missing, this experience set the standard for me. These days the only thing I expect when dealing with any company is extraordinary customer service.
Description of Work: My wife and I were driving one day through Miami Shores, and noticed this lovely house that was completely renovated inside and out. Consequently, we noticed the difference on what a new, and freshly covered paint scheme had done to this house, as well as the new curb appeal make-over through out the property. Though, what captivated both of us most, was how the new windows, exterior doors, and front door added substance, character, and charm to this house. The house was transformed, thus I loved it so much, I wrote down the contact information from the installer's sign outside the curb to the house. As we drove off, and around the curb I instantaneously called the installers, American Storm Protection, and made an appointment with them to come over, and check my recently purchased home. They responded quickly, and came over that same day. Further more, we had an installation contract to replace the front door of my house with a beautiful stain glass hurricane impact resistant door, also we requested to replace the rear door off the dining room with a custom made French style glass door, which was also impact resistant. Additionally, service was to be done on a window with a fortified hurricane shutter that was off the garage.

Jonathan I would like to commend you and your company for a job well done and your outstanding customer relations. Our residence was not your "standard job", as it is an older structure, and we were impressed by your comprehensive knowledge of the job; anything that was needed (bucking, stucco, etc.) was completed and there were no surprises. It is also heartening to know that there are still companies who stand by their words; in your case ..."We are not happy till the customer is happy." which you proved many times. I would also like to thank you for your timely response to our calls; a welcome change to the all too common practice of waiting hours or days for a call to be returned. Sincerely, Joe Harper

I"m pleased to recommend American Storm Protection. Working directly with Jonathan Rodriguez, president of American Storm Protection made our transition as homeowners of new storm impact resistant doors and windows a pleasure. Their services and creativity are top- notch, and we have been very pleased with the work they've done for us. As new homeowners of a home with many windows, it was a challenge to find someone with the qualifications to successfully install windows and doors to our satisfaction. We immediately started to do our homework on the different kinds of storm resistant doors and windows out in the market. Also, we called several companies to come out to our home and give us written estimates of the cost to install windows and doors. But it was without any hesitation that we immediately knew that American Storm Protection was the company for us. Our house was quite a challenge with sixteen windows and two doors that needed to be replaced. We decided to install Florida's Best Aluminum frame with grey glass and white frame except the front door. Our front door is truly our pride and joy because it is a speciality door, which has an Art Deco look. Lazaro (the man that installed the door) made sure the door was meticulously installed with precision and care. Also, the other workers made sure the windows and door was installed correctly and that all stucco work and caulking was completed. It was easy to discuss any changes that we had with Jonathan and he made sure that we were pleased as customers. In addition, Jonathan Rodriguez was in communication with us throughout the installation process and provided us with last minute information about any changes. This family company took every measure possible to provide us with peace of mind during the installation process. I recommend American Storm Protection without reservation and would hire them again if given the opportunity. They went beyond our expectations and were able to meet our standards. If you have any further questions with regard to their qualifications, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Description of Work: American Storm Protection installed all new Low-e, vinyl impact windows and doors and they are beautiful!! My home is much more quiet!! They did a FANTASTIC job. This is a family run business and everyone in the family is involved. Rigo the installer keeps a watchful eye on all of his workers and makes sure everything is done EXACTLY right. They clean up every night and show up when promised. If I had a question, it was answered. I had 3 sets of french doors installed. Oscar did the touch up painting and any plastering. I am thrilled with the windows and doors. I would say this improvement has added much value to my property. As for the inspections....passed with flying colors. In fact, the Fire Dept said they thought they were the best looking windows they had seen!! Thanks American Storm Protection.

American Storm Protection Corp The guy's name was Jason and he was really really nice. I met him at the house, he gotten to the house about 15 minutes before I did. He had already measured out the house, done the architectural like grid drawing and stuff. He was great ! Low pressure and didn't try to us to get anything that we didn't need. We had just moved in so we are not sure what we are going to do yet.

I need to take the time to congratulate your company on a very impressive job in replacing my old windows. My wife and i had chosen you out of a magazine and you were the only quote we got because we did not think it was necessary to look for a better deal. I sign contract that same day. Now i have work in some areas of construction in the past and i know that nothing is edge in stone, or expected any where near what was contracted, but outside some miscommunication which was taken care off in a professional manner, we are very satisfied with the quality of work and professionalism. We thank you and you can be sure we will referred your company to my co-workers and friends.
Description of Work: I had them install energy efficient vinyl frame impact windows for all of my windows. I also had my front door replaced with an elegant fiberglass impact door.

They were prompt, professional, and comprehensive. However, the salesperson was a little too aggressive for me, and it turned me off. I decided to go with another company for various reasons.

Even though we do not have any records of us visiting you, we want you to know that a high pressures sales approach really is not our style. We apologize that you feel our salesperson was too aggressive.

I was not entirely satisfied with them. I’m not sure if it’s their fault or not. They couldn’t seem to satisfy the inspector. The inspectors came one after another and kept telling them that they hadn’t done it right. Finally they got something out which they thought satisfied the inspectors but it was pretty bad. They had trouble interpreting what the inspector wanted them to do. They were willing to do it but somehow didn’t have the experience with that kind of a system. They couldn’t seem to get the job done. They were willing and they seemed to be hard working. It’s just that somehow or another they had trouble figuring out what to do to satisfy the inspectors. I don’t have anything to compare their work to. I thought their price was good. They were the lowest price that I got. They were responsive and they did their best. I would not use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used American Storm Protection Corp for my windows. I last used their services about seven or eight months ago. They put in new windows for us in one part of the house.

Unfortunately, we handled your project during a time when The City of Miami Beach Building Department changed their inspection procedures. In the past, they would only require two inspection which were the buck inspection and final inspection. They then changed it and added two more inspections. The two new inspections are zoning and fire. Zoning required the windows to match the existing windows. In order to do that, we needed to apply muntins which we tried to avoid because you did not want that look. You preferred the full view. That caused one major delay. But the fire inspection was our biggest issue. Due to the fact that your existing windows are sit so low from the ground, they required us to install safety bars. We did our best in completing this project without having to add a large additional cost to you. The building department records will show that a different inspector inspected your job three times. Each inspector wanted different safety bars. We first installed round tubes that the first inspector requested. Then a second inspector came out and said it needed to be done with 1x4 wood. Finally, another inspector came out and said he wanted to see 1x4 aluminum tubes. All of these things they requested from us even though they told told us that they know homeowners remove these bars once it passes inspection because it looks so hideous. We handles a project in your same building before yours and we passed inspection the first time around. We did not need any grids nor any safety bars. We apologize for the frustration. We also went through major frustrations and incurred much higher costs. Any other contractor would have added a large change order to this project. We avoid change orders as much as possible because we know how much it can disappoint our clients and it can reflect even worse feedback. It was a learning experience and we have not gone through any other issues like these in Miami Beach nor any other building department. If this matter comes about again, we will be ready. That is a promise.

From start to final code approval took 4 months. Fast and I'm very satisfied.
Description of Work: I had ALL my windows changed over to low uv impact windows. I had my double entry door changed to an absolutely beautiful glass impact doors. I even changed my family room sliding glass door changed. And YES it was expensive but my house will be ready for the next and all other hurricane seasons. Never another worry. American Storm asked and listened to my concerns and answered all those concerns! Install lasted 1 day longer than planned due to holidays. Not a big deal. Their installer was informed and very capable. It was a fairly easy process.

The overall experience took awhile, but they did an outstanding job on it. I get comments all the time from people walking by the house on how nice it looks. They fixed alot of damaged windows and gave it a much more professional look. The only thing I had to do was the painting. I would use them again. They weren't the most expensive but they weren't the cheapest either. It's what I had expected to pay. They were very professional, and they always cleaned up after themselves.
Description of Work: They replaced the windows all over my house; I think it was around 21 windows.

I contacted Jonathan through another referal service that wasn't very good. Most wouldn't call or didn't seem trustworthy. Jonathan arrived to the appointment on time and was very thourough with his presentation. He listened to my concerns sold me on his excellent products that he provides. Better than I even expected. Not only did i recieve great windows but I also felt more educated on hurricane protection after he left. I felt so confident in his abilities that I hired American Storm Protection even though they were not the cheapest! They were held up a little by the building department but kept me in the loop all the time. His crew came in, worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves. They were done in 2 weeks with inspections and all. I definately recomend American Storm Protection, not only for the excellent work that they did on my home but also for the knowledge that they posess about their craft.
Description of Work: Changed all of my windows, re-sized 2 window openings to acomodate 2 french doors, and changed my front door. Installed new vinyl hurricane shutters for all of my windows and everything looks fabulous!
